I was just wondering why this story never came up in mid '80s or even early '90s. Like someone said, as soon as Barry crowned Osupa as "Oba Orin", all hell was let loose about who created Fuji or not. Barry (RIP) had called himself Fuji creator in his albums before all this mess started, and not even Kollington or Wasiu raised an objection until now.

Chief Dr. Sikiru Ayide Barrister is the Fuji originator and creator. Fuji is quite different from Were. But unfortunately K1 couldn't established and popularized Talazo his brand of music, he renamed it as Fuji. Shame on K1!

I was thinking the same thing. I sang Were in my town during Ramadan and becoming a Musician was the last thing on my mind. Were is totally different from Fuji, and Were is not a brand of music anyway. There are a lot of kids in many parts of Nigeria that are still doing Ajiwere every year. If Were is so great as a Music brand, someone should claim the Kingship of Were.

Kudos to K1 for his composition on the originated of Fuji music, let's leave sentiment and enjoy good music

There is no doubting the fact that Sikiru Ayinde Barrister turned Were to Fuji. Kollington tried but Wasiu was the next turning point. All the rest are just followers. Meanwhile the most repect goes to Adewale Ayuba because you'll never hear him involved in this kind of controversy

Wasiu is very ungratefull. Barrister picked him from the gutter and made him. Now he has the nerve to talk down on him. He himself knows the fact. All these people did were and it is completely different from Fuji music created by the king himself, Baba baba gbogbo won Sikirun Ayinde Barrister. Kollington himself acknowledged barrister started before him stating barrister invited him to come and sing fuji. He forget to say Barrister was already singing before inviting him.

Well We'll see. I don't believe Barrister created Fuji Music..He might be one of the forerunners but without any doubt though, Barrister was a great musicican and no one can take that away from him May his soul rest in peace!

@omoitire No doubt, Wasiu is better than Abass (that's debatable depending on some people's Fuji style preference), we shouldn't even be comparing them; but my point still remains. Obesere has no reason to have a headache regarding Wasiu, it's actually the opposite. Obesere suppose to regard Wasiu as is senior not his mate, but he currently regards him as his Imunle (mate, covenant.) literally means they 'drink the earth.' together. He is claiming that he can only respect Barry and Kola.
