@@vq_mercs2751only two incorrect challenges for whether the shuttle has landed out or not. Doesn’t cover cases where the racquet did not touch the net, or the shuttle didn’t actually the ground before hitting

What I see from all the vids are thes umpires are arrogant as hell. BWF should need a camera review system when the umpire is not confident for a call.

I've said it before and i still stand by it. Badminton umpires are the absolute worst.

these umpires are just terrible for the sport. hiring old aged umpires that has reduced eyesight is so stupid.

At pro level speeds it’s really hard to track the shuttle from the umpire’s seating position. However it’s a shame that the umpire’s calls can’t be challenged, and the choice to have mostly old umpires is also questionable.

They should get high speed cameras and players can also challenge umpire calls. If the umpire stuffs more than 3 calls per match, he gets replaced. 3 replacements in 1 year and you're fired from Superseries forever. There needs to be a way to keep umpires honest and competent.

The last game shown, it’s clear that the net did not move an inch. Then empire is confirmed blind.

Even if the umpire is at fault, the player needs to be honest and maintain sportsmanship. Just give the point back by letting them score.

The wet floor is so dangerous, players should make a stand, don't matter if its your opponent floor, stop playing and force the referee to change their mind.

Everyone who playing badminton knows that we definitely won’t hit the net when we lobbing. Literally.

A person should have experience playing badminton before appointed as an umpire. This is because most(not all of them) of the call is ridiculous and shows that they never play badminton. Tai Tzu Ying clear in front of the net is perfect. Yet called fault by the umpire. How? Why? I'm speechless. Hope they find ways to fix this. I can't imagine how devastated the player feel when they are treated like that.

That call should be accurate. Net moved horizontally. Her racket tip probably touched the net. If the bird hit the net usually the top white parat moves but not this caase.

It's incredibly dissapointing to have witness these events so often. BWF is a joke of a sporting organization.

Umpires just feel like they're almighty when whatever they say goes. No accountability whatsoever nor humility required. Makes umpires have ego because they need not explain themselves or be responsible for mistakes. Absolutely disgusting for the sport. And even more disgusting is that they aren't even trying to do anything about it, implying that BWF is completely approving of such behavior and culture in the sport.

Akand vs CYF group qualifier match in WTF 2022 , CYF hit the shuttle twice, akane spotted it but the blind umpire dint..which cost akane the match

Some umpires love to imagine what happened. They only make a call based on what they want to believe...

There should be a rule where u can review your point if you think the umpires decision is wrong

So many bad umpires out there that it motivates me to become a just one.

It's a shame most of the initial rounds don't even have hawk eye. So no chance of being able to challenge a bad call. Badminton officials need a better system in place for both players who on occasion flout the rules and for officials officiating at tournaments. End of the day they are prone to error too. I don't think they have any intention behind any bad calls

Are the Umpires penalized after it has proven they called the wrong decisions? Or they get away with it easily? Players that challenges umpire decisions gets heated by the umpire even more cause they feel embarrassed whey their decision is being challenged by the player.

Denmark Challenge 2019, the vittinghus vs ye and gemke calls and umpiring are very clear examples of how biased officials can be. Just watch the vittinghus vs bing hong ye match haha

Why an organizer get an old line judges where there vision in unparallel to younger ones... I've seen two miss calls given by an old line judges. IRS (Instant Review System) is not only given to in and out calls just like in volleyball where touches and double hits have made. Badminton is one of the fastest sport where review is very useful for fairness.

If these video caught all the bad calls, how come it can't do it at scene?

Why are the players not making their own line calls? If there is a disagreement then umpire can overrule - his decision being final

Badminton is great. Most umpires are not up to the task. Some of them are even ill tempered pricks. There is no common standard regarding players and umpires. And the unfair and condescending players never get punished, but the umpires tend to boss around the humble and fair players. Sometimes it‘s really hard to watch when hard working players are betrayed by umpires, who cannot judge a situation properly, or are just cowards.

The first one is not controversial, it's just factually wrong. That's not a controverse. Now, to be fair to humans, we don't have nearly as many frames per second in our eyes as we need to see the shuttles properly at those speed, our brain creates images between the frames we do actually see, so everyone's perception of reality is slightly different, and at those speeds, mistakes happen often. So there should be video confirmation at high level matches, we have the technology for it...

I'd be more than willing to overturn an incorrect decision if there was technology in place to review. There are a lot of people in the comment section who are quick to pass judgement behind the safety of a keyboard, but who have likely never actually sat in the chair themselves. It's all lovely when you can judge an umpire with the beauty of hindsight, and having seen multiple slow motion reviews, but it is very different when you get one look at it at a very fast speed and need to make a quick decision. Does that excuse all mistakes? No. Should the service judge also help to ensure mistakes are not missed? Yes. We are human at the end of the day...not robots.

All BWF umpire is useless, unfair and cannot do the job right.
