Washing clothes without electricity! Lehman's washer and wringer set
Have you ever needed to do laundry and didn't have any power?! No?...well us either! But we have a sweet "off the grid" laundry setup from the country/Amish store in Ohio called "Lehmans" in the event that we do!
The soap used is an all natural variety from our local store

Sono super appasionato di lavatrici ma questa non l'avevo ancora vista! BELLISSIMA 👍
40 yrs ago when we were newlyweds and poor college students, I used the bathtub and a clean toilet plunger. I would get blisters wringing out the socks and sheets. I sure appreciate that I don't have to do that anymore. This would have been awesome and the wringer would have saved my hands.

Sometimes when I'm too lazy to go to the laundromat I wash a small load in the bathtub and I hardly squeeze the water out and just hang them over the bathtub and leave a heater on.

I bought a cheap washing board and did my laundry in the tub when I was a poor college student. Decades later I retired the washing board to serving as back porch decoration, and Hurricane Katrina smashed it. I thanked it for its service as I placed it in the burn pile with the remnants of all the fallen trees. Which was super ironic because we didn't have electricity for a month after Katrina and I was washing clothes in the nearby creek and actually needed that washing board for the first time in 20 years lol
I have done quite a bit of research on hand washing clothes, different ways and ideas...I think that is the best set up!!! Alot of ppl like it/use it!
The first I thought this wasn't going to stay rated G. That Lehman's looks like the best thing there is.
And also you can put a bucket under the spout to catch the water and use it to chain off something wash off a patio chair , your patios, If it's clean soap you can put it in your plants... 😄👍❤️
I have the rack to hang them just like yours and use the wonderwash crank. Also brought myself a Gentlewasher that cost me 300.00 dollars that crank but it was a birthday gift to me. I'm 62 and hands hurt from years of washing clothes crafts knitting crocheting etc. All learned by grandma. Oldest of 7 girls and 2 boys. Had to do everything at early age. To say all this I can not afford that beautiful peace of equipment your working with. Enjoy

Mz K Hard - I'm 62 as well. And 2nd oldest of 7 girls and 2 boys haha. I checked out that Gentlewasher and didn't care that it just spins in circles. I'd rather have something that actually agitates the clothes.
I always use dish gloves because my hands get blisters and it's easier to strain the water out
We used one of these washers back in the 1970's when we first built our off grid log cabin. Loads of CLOTH diapers were washed in it over the years and we had strong arms to show for all of our effort.

Better off buying a portable washer and portable dryer for way less.
I don't miss these days as children this was our chore and to put every piece of clothes through the wringer was job. Then mom bought a washer that could spin the clothes it's self, boy that was heaven. I guess that's why I wanted no part of farm life anymore.

I really like that it would probably give me a good workout and then I’d hang my clothes outside on a clothesline because that’s what I would use in Yorkshire in Northern England

Where to buy the wringer set?
Wow that beats a washboard and plunger I am definitely getting this setup thank you
This actually looks like fun!
I go to Lehmans and other Amish country places in Ohio since they are only a two hour drive. Lovely anytime of the year. While that is nice it is very expensive so save up your money. A wash tub and a new toilet plunger(drill some holes in the rubber part) does a good job of washing clothes and cheap also.
Perfecto !!!!
I'm considering purchasing one. Are you still using it and have you had any serious issues with it? I'm doing light washes now by hand in a bucket. At 66 I'm going for the minimalist lifestyle as possible, I think our planet is worth it for one. Great demonstration and I was thinking "man this is the guy I want as my camping or off grid buddy." I subscribed in the within the first minute of watching. Have a nice day!
It reminds me of the old ringer washers

For over a thousand dollars it seems they would have something besides wooden legs.

Sir. I want this washing machine. Available on which site. And its price plz. Thanks.
That wringer not for me as my laundry I handwash plunger style in the tub. The wash machine does look like it will do a more predictable agitating washing job. Wonder if it would fit in my tub? Then a seven inch high plastic produce crate which fits across my tub and nicely under the faucet to rinse. I can put other laundry underneath that as either a presoak or light wash. My ninja spinner a pain when it occasionally unbalances but par for the course for that type of machine but would further dry, extracting more water out than it appears with these old fashioned wringers.

How much money do you save washing and drying you clothes this way? I started hang drying a few loads of laundry a day (big family) and save $75 a month on my electricity bill.
@BlueyesBelow
2 жыл бұрын
It was never really about saving money for me as there is only two of us in my household, but more about having an alternate means if needed. It is a fun way to do laundry on a nice day! 😊 You’ll still need to run the water pump (electricity) to fill this, but you would save some electricity on the agitation process. Your time spent manually doing laundry *may* not be well spent, depending on how busy you are. Good luck!

That’s personal preference and obviously depends on how soiled the clothes are, but a few minutes of agitating, draining the dirty water, agitating again with clean water to “rinse” and then wringing everything out. Maybe 15-20 mins total?
