    I wish I could take a class! I live on the side of the globe! I adore Washi Ningyo! I have been making 'flat" ningyo using regular origami papers.

    Keep in contact with Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California where I teach. It is hard to teach a beginner workshop by zoom but we plan to have a video or zoom class in the future. It's a work in progress. Google their website.

    Is the kimono paper same just washi paper or is it a different type of paper material

  • @rochellelum9390

    Same as washi paper. But you can use any paper to make kimono. Trial by error when using other non Japanese washi paper.

    I doubt you'll ever see this but is the thinner paper for the skin called something other than washi paper? The hair and clothing paper seems to have a different texture, less thin. How would you word it to order the thin white skin paper?

    You can use a pencil and 2 spools of thread. The pencil should be able to go through the hole on top of the spool. If there are other slots on tip, cover them with a flat piece of cardboard. You only want to use the center holes.

    Hi, what kind of paper do you use on the head?

  • @rochellelum9390

    @rochellelum9390

    3 ай бұрын

    It's a kind of mulberry paper from Japan. But you can try using square coffee filter that is thin or tissue paper but becareful it can tear easily because it does not have long or strong fibers.

    You can use a pencil and 2 spools of thread, making sure pencil can go through center of spool. The hair tool I use no longer is made. Measurements are in cm, use tweezer, scissor and Elmar white glue not school glue. Japanese Paper or paper with long fiber. Not origami paper. For face you can use square coffee filter or if careful white wrapping tissue paper.

    I had a time limit of about 15 mins to show entire process. It usually takes a beginner 3 to 4 hrs to make doll. Please contact Jcccnc if you are interested in zoom class. Beginner classes won't be until next year. 2023
