Vanny must be the saddest/weirdest character ive seen, which Steelwool really wanting us to care about her and her importance to the plot, but they never really use her

I really assume that they wanted to use vanny more often, but they just scrapped it once again.

It's interesting how fans immediately liked and wanted more Vanny yet Steelwool for whatever reason can't figure out how to incorporate her more. Even the Glitched Attractions fan game seem to do more with Vanny than them 😂

@@krdt1111 we can agree to disagree The trailers already showed what the story could’ve been and it received lots of positive feedback from fans So I see no reason for them to cut it since their audience were already happy with what was shown

Personally, i feel like she should have been the one to give the hints for the dolls instead of the mystic hippo lines. And maybe some extra dialogue to flesh her out more, cause she certainly ain't much from security breach. Maybe like from a old walkie talkie after you remove the mask

they really made this vanny character with lots of content added to her but then scrapped almost everything and left her in the dust

As someone who, unexplainably, became completely obsessed with the bunny lady after SB, the ending of HW2 gave me hope and destroyed my soul. To me it felt like she's either becoming her own character cut off from glitchtrap, or shes just no longer going to be a thing. Plz steelwool I bought hundreds of dollars of vanny merch just make her an actual character with screentime 😭

Notice how Marta Svetek voices both Vanny and Mystic Hippo? I think that Vanny was once supposed to play the role that Mystic Hippo does in the final release

I do think that they cut the Vanny lines to make things more ambiguous. And that Mystic Hippo may actually be Vanny communicating with the player, since Mystic Hippo is all about the Vanny ending.

Vanny isn't really meant to be a villain though. She's more like the main victim, so it kind of makes sense that they wouldn't try to make her too creepy and ominous because she's not actually supposed to be a villain

​@@Spencycle if you look at the impact just from basic games i could say yes, but it is five night at freddy's, especially security breach she was about to be main villain for one or two next games, but she isn;t because the game was rushed, too big in such a short time, they cut many thing including her role, lore as something really immediately visible, from this state we can theorize what happened to the workers (most likely Vanny sent endo to kill them and put their bodies into the worker bots) or she spread mimic's virus into fazbear pizza plex system, i mean by this that we can make high speculation on what was vanny working on, but it;s only ours speculation and only because the game was unfortunately unfinished after SB the whole new fnaf age (story) was unstable, it's something different than cut voice lines from help wanted 2 (maybe vanny not sure 100% imo) i am more on site that steel wool know how much vanny is cool for fnaf's community that they want to give her big role but in different way instead of being manipulated maybe she will be separate bad entity, just to fix her tag ''wasted potencial'' but who knows? we will all see what is going to happen Sorry for that long text but i really want to share it

@@MrFreemanWithBriefcase but vanny existed way back in HW 1, and you can see that she was already possessed by Glitchtrap. So TECHNICALLY, it was Glitchtrap doing all that stuff, not Vanny herself. And yes, Glitchtrap is a long-term villain, so I guess you're right. But I don't think we're going to see much more of Vanny anymore, since HW 2 got rid of him for good (I think, unless they decide to bring him back a fourth time)

I think the "Bring him to me" voice line could be a Roxy one because Roxy directly references Gregory a couple times that I know of

I mentioned in your last video about this topic that Vanny appears in the credits, which makes me think she absolutely got her role reduced, but if this is the case two questions come to mind 1) Where are the voice lines? If she was credited as a voice actress then surely some lines were recorded even if they were then cut. 2) If no lines were ever recorded, then how the hell did that credit make it to release? I remember the credits for Fnaf HW1 also being a bit fucky since they listed the voice actors scrapped from showtime and a couple other mistakes I can't name off the top of my head.

Yeah I'm sure there must be recorded Vanny lines somewhere, but I reckon they're locked away unfortunately

Whatever Steelwool pits out next we need an updated version of Security Breach that includes what we lost if it stays true to the current lore. Vanny and Vanessa as characters need redemption after what the cuts did to them.

I am actually working on maybe remaking all of FNAF Security Breach with the cut content while keeping it "lore accurate". I have been just working on finding what would be in the game but I have a fairly extensive breakdown of all of what would be needed.

I think some of those lines might of been from Mystic Hippo but maybe since they're the same voice actor there could have been a scrapped reveal of Mystic Hippo actually being Vanny.

Vanny seems to be helping the player showing that the princess quest ending of scirity breach is canon

Ever since the first teaser trailer dropped for the game three years ago, Vanny was going to be the biggest thing to go up against as we the players try to escape the Pizzaplex. She and Vanessa had more of a role than a minor task to either help or harm Gregory in anyway. When the game finally released, she was never used at all. I believe SteelWool screwed up majorly and didn't care for her character that much...

They probably cut the lines because Vanny killing Glitchtrap wouldn't make sense. Seeing how the Vanny persona can't exist without him.

i mean, Vanny probably is just a twisted version of Vanessa controlled by Glitchtrap, so her being able to operate on her own (even against him) is a possibility

Vanny speaking would be way more cooler. And the name for the achievement “Remember Jeremy?” Might be the hint that Cassie’s dad aka the Bonnie bully’s name is Jeremy, or one of the victim of Afton might be the name, and The Bonnie Bully aka Cassie’s dad might be related to them.

she's such a cool character and they keep scrapping anything to do with her. this one doesn't even make sense to me. the lines add a lot more context to an ending that basically came out of left field without them. and this time it's not even a time crunch thing, it's a very quick thing to add. honestly i hope they add it in an update or smth, the ending is just so stupid without it imo.

Yes, I noticed how both in RUIN and HW2 her appearances are getting even shorter than her debut in Security Breach.I think it’s because the whole narrative was going to be about William one way or another and vanny was just a puppet. She was never going to be a new villain that’s why the mimic is here to pretend that things are different.

I think she was a temporary antagonist, as in, she was a threat before the big reveal. At least i think so, but she didn't get even this sadly.

at this point, they should just scrap vanny entirely and retcon her.

I'm probably wrong but as Vanny's fading away into the darkness, she make some weird low growly noises. I think its the line "are you having fun yet" but really heavily distorted. I've tried speeding the footage up and raising the pitch, it sounds like the right syllable breaks are present but i'm not 100% on it.

I’ve been watching MatPat’s playthrough of Help Wanted 2 and I recently saw a video from RayToast giving his theory on the game’s story. They both came to different conclusions about the Princess Quest ending which feels very curious and maybe relevant to these cut lines: MatPat’s theory is that the dolls, messages, and Princess Quest storylines are all coming from Vanessa, and that the ending involves our Protag trading his Vanny mask for the evil incarnate of Glitchtrap, then presenting Glitchtrap to Vanny so that she could crush him. In doing so, Glitchtrap is killed (at least within Vanny) and Vanessa is freed from his influence. RayToast’s theory is that the dolls and messages are provided by Glitchtrap as a way to corrupt our Protag and possess his body. At the end of Princess Quest, he trades the Vanny mask he’s been wearing for Glitchtrap’s influence, but then Vanny intercepts and destroys the Glitchtrap that was gonna possess our Protag, sparing him and keeping Vanny (and i guess Cassidy) as the only possessed followers. I think these things that were cut out of the game are very curious in regards to how the story of Vanessa is supposed to play out. During development, Vanny was the one leading the protagonist to obtain the “memories”, Vanny’s hand was the one that appears constantly, and Vanny is the one that demands us to give her Glitchtrap (presumably). But in the final game this was all changed; Vanny no longer leads us in the story, Glitchtrap is the one presenting these memories explicitly, and Vanny makes a last-minute appearance in the story to destroy the infected plush. It almost feels as if Steelwool originally planned a story somewhat close to MatPat’s theory, but then during development changed their minds and reworked the story so that it was closer to RayToast’s theory instead. It feels less like “they cut Vanny for time or budget” and more like “they cut Vanny because her story was changed in development”. I guess an alternate theory here could be that Vanny was still influencing things by speaking through Mystic Hippo. After all, M Hippo and Vanny share the same actress. Maybe “Vanny” was credited in the game because she *does* speak, through Mystic Hippo.

I think the graffiti instructions are still from Vanny, so I think the lines being cut is likely to vague up a game that is very, very direct for a FNAF game as it is. The intention is still the same -- Vanny leaves you graffiti clues in the AR world to find the Glitchtrap memory pieces, you handover the 'Vanny' mask to obtain Glitchtrap, and Vanny ends his control over her by destroying the virus. So as much as it would've been nice to get some of these lines, I think it was a directness based call to cut them.

I hope in the next title, if she fits in the story there trying to tell, she’s more of a main antagonist

I think it's more forgiveable in this game at least. Her role isn't big but, it feels like she's being set up to be an antagonist again somehow? So this game feels like it really shouldn't be her 'big moment' in the spotlight.

Maybe her lines were re done for the mystic hippo and that’s why they’re not in the files of the game? Sometimes when the mystic hippo is approached she says “can you hear me?” Which would be strange for a robot that reads cards, so maybe vanny speaks through the mystic hippo

It might not make the most sense with lines like “she needs you” which speaks of vanny, but maybe vanny is saying these things to make it look like it’s the mystic hippo talking so it doesn’t set off any red flags

I've noticed that pretty much all games and series are overshadowed by the fans. You see fanart, comics, gifs and stories of a side character or a background character. You get interested and when you check the actual game and their dialogue is 3 lines and a cameo. Or fans write really cool backstories and interactions between two characters. They add quirks or fun hobbies, explore their personalities and make them likable and fun. Yet the actual games and shows are so watered down and never even try to show them that much. Like Vanny. Having Vanessa reappear after Vanny has stalked for a while and be frustrated she can't find Gregory so she checks the footage, she sees Gregory "player" look and be shocked then run. And she notices the cameras shut down every time this thing "appears" only noticing the shadow once. It has rabbit ears "Aha, it IS an- Wait. Those ears. No. No he's. Is he? No. Doesn't look quite right. But then what is it?". Teasing at Bonnie at the same time. Near the ending before Afton, Vanessa survived but catches Gregory and through a cutscene she notices she has a knife, and she knows where the Vanny mask is hidden without knowing herself how she knows that down there. Coming to the realization she's Vanny and thus, manipulated. So easily could've had an awesome struggle between Vanessa and Vanny. First finding out there's a second person, then finding they're chasing Gregory, they can hack the Pizzaplex, that they're a murderer and finally they they're Vanny. So much conflict and development. This is the kind of anticipation my imagination expect when teasers and demos come out and everyone speculates. Then the game comes out and nothing. Watered down completely.

Vanny is probably the most wasted character in all of gaming. Her "story" was retconned like 5 times she only appeared in one scene in security breach and now her "story" is over. Ugh

So it sucks that vanny/Vanessa has taken such a cutting. But on a side note I want to know what the Bonny mask actually changes if anything because at the min I can’t see anything different in the ending if you get it or not and it also dosnt seem to change anything in the hub world, so what’s the point what dose it trigger? As they said they don’t have any DLC planned (I don’t believe them, making a DLC for HW2 is just printing money as all the framework is already built) that should mean that the Bonny mask should do something inside of the main HW2 game but as I said I haven’t seen any change but I haven’t played it myself (and don’t plan to I love the lore of these games not their gameplay😅) so it’s not like I can go check all the nooks and crannies even if I did own a VR headset I don’t have that much spare money or space, I really doubt it’s just an Easter egg.

If we had a nickel for every time that Vanny's role was significantly cut down, we'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's wierd that it happened twice...

Removing Vanny from the games entirely wouldn't even change much

The ONLY voice line that would've even been slightly cool to hear would be "Bring him to me." Everything else is super hand-holdly and leaves no room for the player to figure out anything on their own, especially the ones surrounding taking off the mask. If you have played Ruin, or at least watched it, you know what the inhibitors are for, and the poster is already a really good hint that you have a mask on. Let's also remember that Steel Wool doesn't make the story, Scott does, so your criticism of these lines not being in the game should be directed at him.

i think her "role" as is, is fine, although i do understand people that are upset because they want more vanny. i agree that they should include more vanny content, although i dont think the cut content from HW2 wouldve been all that good of vanny content anyway, and probably wouldve changed the atmosphere and experience of HW2 in a negative way i think the issue is still that people are upset that SB was bad, but putting SB content in other games to give what was lost isnt really a solution. i understand that logistically they cant really go and fix up SB, from a company perspective, even if i'd want them to remake the game "but properly this time" it wouldnt do them good and would likely not have a good result anyway not to say that i think vanny has to stay in SB and cant be used again/more, but if she gets reused she should probably be the actual focus of a game and not just kinda there being vague on the sideline again

Same here. I think it’s fine for what it was. And the added stuff probably wasn’t going to do much anyway. I think they had their chance in SB with her tbh. And I think the only way she could truly come back i if someone else is likely wearing the mask. Which I think Cassie could be a good candidate for ngl.

I guess we won't know till the next game. But it's cool to think about it like that. Good questions on if it's just Vanny or Vanessa. Im not really too of it myself. Even with what ive already said. But ig we'll see for sure haha.

I love how they build her up like the big bad, and to be honest she could have saved the franchise, But like. She never shows up, Her story is meaningless in the end and its such a waste

To be fair i kinda prefer the elusive final boss as opposed to the boss who "always comes back". Least when we do finally beat vanny it will feel final whereas afton just couldnt stay down to the point where it got annoying imo
