I feel like Darius is a better interior passer than Mitchell but he doesn’t seem to kick out of the paint to the open shooter nearly as well. It seems to me that surrounding Darius with more cutters than shooters appeals to his strength but the team has gone in the direction of more shooters. That being said, if Darius can work on kick-outs in the off-season and the new coach, can bend the offense to capitalize a bit more on his interior passing, I think Darius will shine for this team. If that isn’t going to happen, they should look to trade him (and by all means DON’T try to make Mitchell the primary PG).

The problem with the Cavs is they have way too many 2 guards....without even mentioning DM; who I hope becomes the defacto point(trade DG) the way too many list includes...(1)Strus; who nobody wants to see at the 3, (2) Okoro; who is too small at the 3, (3) Levert; who is a combo guard and not a 3...(4) Sam....That's 4 not including DM! Traffic jam needs to be cleared. Trading Leverts expiring contract and the decision on Okoro..could do that!

GSW had a coach in Mark Jackson who prioritized defense and playing slow. He was fired, then Steve Kerr installed an offense that prioritized more ball movement, man movement so that he could get his shooters open. Then they became a dynasty. They created something unique, played to their advantages. Please stop trying to fit in with someone else's advantage, and in the process you're going to trade away our advantage. When we had 3 seven footers, we had an advantage. We traded it away. Now you want to get even smaller. Cavs media is proving why teams lose perpetually, they are always chasing someone else's style. No one will ever out-Warrior the Warriors...

No need to make any personnel moves, unless a player asks out, then that's a different story. See what you have with a new coach's set of eyes on it first...

Darius hasn't been aggressive on offense in 1.5 years. The pace of competitive basketball ain't for him. He's a player who's suited for avg 20ppg on a non playoff team like Portland, Charlotte, Washington. Trade him asap and let him go play that brand of basketball

You sound like you don't know Darius at all. He just had back to back seasons of 21pts 8ast before this year before breaking his jaw early, then losing his grandmother late in the season. He has improved every year he's been here. Recency bias grips us all at some point. This is a very skilled PG that needs to be coached to the next level, he has elite skill sets of SPEED & SHOOTING, his passing is also next level. It would be stupid (Literally) to trade a 24yr old PG who already had played like an AllStar. The moment you make Garland available they'll be avalanche of teams ready to give you the badge minimum for his talents.

Those defensive ratings are obviously not reliable!! Use the eye tesdt for that one. Teams target DG on that end....end of statement!

JB overall was a really good defensive coach, but the team was not effective and was coached poorly with switch defense. Anytime a screen was set we switched, rather than fighting through the screen. It created mismatches not just for DG, but if Max was on the floor, and Max is a pretty good defender, he’d get switched onto a legit SF, someone like Tatum, and no matter how good he defended, they could pretty easily shoot over him

Teams seek out and expose the weak link. Defensive rating is nonsense and foolish to try to make this point

@@gregrutland6525 you do realize that when a team is facing a team like ours that has two 6’3” or less guards and a 6’5” “small forward” that creating a mismatch isn’t hard to do?

Imo this season was more of an anomaly but he has some very bad habits of dribbling too much and driving in a clogged paing and getting blocked n banged up.He needs to shoot more 3s and midranges

@@MrShollenit's not about creating a mismatch. The OP comment was about defensive rating and the eye test. Stats are just one part of the story. Size does affect DGs game but his effort on that side of the ball is also lackadaisical. And that shows on tape

So many excuses. Dg sucked against the knicks, came into media day was flippant with media, came into preseason was terrible, in the regular season prior to getting hurt he was having his worst year since his rookie season. Using the injury as an excuse ignores he was having a bad year before then.
