Was the Yale logo stolen from the Jews? A prank call to Yale University

Ойын-сауық

After it was announced that Yale University was removing the word "Israeli" from it's menu, we realized that our only chance against Americans is through guilt. So we called Yale to protest cultural appropriation - This time, ours.

Fun fact: "Israeli Cuscus" (Ptitim in Hebrew) is not the same dish as Moroccan Cuscus, it's an Israeli invention from the 1950's that is sort of a mix between rice and pasta. In Israel, it is sometimes called "Ben Gurion rice" because David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel had personally directed the company 'Osem'(the same company that makes Bamba) to create it since there was a large food shortage at the time, and ever since then it is one of the most loved Israeli dishes, served alongside Schnitzel and ketchup😋

In my predominantly Jewish high school (back in 1975) a friend applied to Harvard, Yale and U of Chicago. He received an automatic rejection from Harvard. A few weeks later he received an acceptance to Yale. We all laughed about it because we knew Harvard rejected him because they had met their quota of new Jewish students, but obviously Yale had not. There have always been quotas to the ivy league schools for all minorities, including Jews.

If it is true that they removed "Hebrew" or "Jewish" from a cafeteria dish name based on students protest, then the students should then petition the school to remove the Hebrew from the logo. That is the woke, victim, marginalized, DEI, bleeding heart way these days.

One of their best old-timey Lampoon stunts was in 1921 or 1923 when they stole part of the Old Yale Senior Fence upon which the Captains of the Football team would pose for their team picture and had their elderly janitor, Robert "Lampoon" Steward pose in his kilt on it for a photo in their gameday magazine program. Another was around 1925 when they kidnapped their bulldog mascot (usually named "Handsome Dan (with a Roman numeral after it as each offspring dog kept the name) and photographed it licking the foot of the bronze John Harvard statue in front of University Hall (after putting dogfood on it).

Yale students did prank Harvard football fans about a decade ago by posing as a fictitious "cheer spirit squad" and handed out selected colored cards for the fans to hold up as a card stunt at the appropriate time telling them it was going to say "Go Harvard" or something to that effect but it really said "WE SUCK!" and the Yale fans were rolling in their seats in laughter. Then a few years later some Harvard students posing as Yale student tour guides showed a bunch of prospective high school students around with their parents showing where most students get murdered and never ceasing pointing out "gothic architecture".... and the group did not even batt an eyelash!!! Both pranks are on youtube.

It was a bit too far to push this on such a pleasant person. And thats not the right meaning either. Dont shame the secretary in the comments. Gd does not allow us to embarass others nor to gossip about them. These are two commandments in the Torah/Bible.

Can anyone please tell me who it was that "interviewed" me for my application to Yale University in Spring 1988? He was a psychologist in Rhode Island, and he wrote his dissertation on the use of "rhetoric", specifically, in the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche. We spoke for about 2 hours in a diner somewhere on the RI mainland. I was suffering from an inexplicable headcold. We agreed that Kierkegaard was rather challenging. Altogether I was somewhat unfazed.

I recall I first had the notion of applying to Yale, after receiving good news on my SAT scores, after hearing about God and Man at Yale, by William F. Buckley, on Firing Line. It may have been his harpsichord playing. Or his celestial navigation. Or that he preferred grapefruit juice to orange with vodka. Ot just the vocabulary. Or our shared tendency to, physically, lean to the right.
