This was called an Expansion game back in the day and it was much better that today’s weak DLC

Idk man, all FromSoftware DLCs are called DLCs and are some of the best content in any game ever. Unless we're just defining DLC as just extra costumes, weapons etc and everything story-wise or extra maps or bigger worlds as "expansions".

yeah spider man 2.0 came out recently

It definitely reminds me of saints row 4. In that it is basically an expansion pack that utilizes the same engine, map, etc. But, does enough to warrant being its own thing. I haven't looked into this particular game but, I know that sr4 was originally SUPPOSED to be an expansion pack but, ended up being so much larger than they expected, so they put it out as its own thing.

Wasn't SR4 supposed to stay a DLC, but the reason they forced it into a full game was because either Volition/Deep Silver was about to go bankrupt, so they made it a full game instead?

Kind of, yeah. This is about the content we used to get in a proper expansion. I have seen DLC about that size so it definitely could have been one. But "Standalone Expansions" are a thing, and this feels kinda like that. The problem was mostly with the price tag I believe. This game was 80% Spider Man 1, so it still costing 80% of a full release was definitely way too expensive and I believe that's why people have issues with this. If the game had released costing 30 bucks or so, that would have been way less of a problem

It was a standalone expansion, like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Maybe it was a bit expensive given the short length, but in fairness, the price of video games is ridiculous these days, and it was sold cheaper than a full-length release. And the Spider-Man games, in general, are a little on the short side compared to other games. Also, anyone else think the tone of the ending was a little off? Like Miles OBLITERATED his best friend, and then we cut to four weeks later, and he's strutting around with his headphones on, listening to his tunes?

I enjoyed this over the first game. Not sure why it wasn’t longer or had a dlc over time. I really like Miles fighting style over Peters.

It was a spin-off it could probably get a sequel.

I got a copy of Miles Morales Ultimate Launch Edition for PS5 that came with a digital copy of the first game. Ironically, that would make the first game DLC for Miles Morales in this case.

I honestly think the big reason it wasn’t a smaller dlc and it became a slightly bigger game is so it could be a launch title for PS5 rather than reselling the remaster with the dlc included

It was definitely an expansion to the first game, kind of like AC Mirage is to Valhalla. Either way, if you enjoyed the first one, it’s a great excuse to jump back in.

Just finished the title in anticipation for Spider-Man 2, and overall I’d say it was a pretty solid expansion for the ps4 game.

Yes. It's really fun but yes. The thing that feels funny about it to most is if your older and remember DLC from the 2000s this was basically what it used to be. GTA 4 lost and damned and ballot of gay Tonny were HUGE but still DLC.

It's a standalone DLC, an expansion to say properly. Playstation had done this like Lost Legacy. It would've been price $60/70 if it's a full game. They made it a "stand alone" to price it higher than what DLC can be price.

So? We've seen similar games like Star Wars: TIE Fighter, Homeworld: Cataclysm, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, and Batman: Arkham Origins, and believe me, they all ended up equal if not better than the preceding "main installments". One may even argue that the true sequel is an overhauled, bigger expansion pack, as almost all sequels are. In short, face it, expansion pack in all but name it may be, it's still a great yet later somber game.

I mean, yes. DLC however didn't used to necessarily connotate a bad thing. You used to call big additions like this expansion packs. My first real exposure to the concept was half-life opposing force. Sizable enough addition to the game, usually with enough differences as well to almost feel like a sequel, but just usually not quite enough content or differences to really justify calling it that. As such, it's an expansion of the original game That's exactly what this felt like and there's nothing wrong with that

Yes it's a big dlc. That's why I waited for the sale before getting it.

It feels so insulting to the devs that some refer to shorter games as "just dlc" They wouldve poured their heart into making a streamlined and focued story, the game was incredible, and shouldnt be reduced to add-on content

I don't have much sympathy when you can beat the game in an afternoon and they still charged $50 at launch. At most it should've been $30 for how short it was.

Can you do a review the game - "Spider Man: The Sinister Six" DOS 1996 ?

Never had a PS4, and got the Miles Morales ultimate edition on PS5 that included the complete edition of the first game. So, I don't really care. I got both games for the price of one.

The thing is DLC is a extremely general umbrella terms. When compared how most DLC are I can see why people see it as insulting to say "It's just DLC", but when you compare it similar Game Expansions, such as Xenoblade 2/3 or the current Monster Hunter games, I don't see how this justifies being a $50 game over a huge $30 expansion. Something emphasizing this even more is that the "Ultimate Edition" is $70 and comes with the original game which at the time was also currently $50. This kinda came across as Sony themselves also seeing this title as just a $20 add-on for the first game.

it's a dlc a bit like the infamous one that came out in boxed version too

I see it as a smaller stand alone game that was a test for the development team to figure out how to make Miles unique from Peter. When I play the Miles Morales game I noticed differences in how he swings and his hand to hand combat compared to Peter.

To me, it felt like a stand-alone sequel. It would've been perfect had the antagonists not been so horrible. Simon and Roxxon had zero motivation throughout the story, and even less screen time to justify their existence as antagonists. Phin is even worse, as Miles puts it. "You want me to feel bad because you nearly killed me?". Her actions doesn't justify her motives, especially when she acts like Miles is her enemy for no reason. Especially when Simon pretty much says "Hey, I'm the bad guy." and she continues to go all out on Miles. Kingpin falls within this category, he felt forced into the story and him immediately attacking Mile's people made no sense. How did he know they were his people to begin with? While the story was on the shorter side, and the skill/gadgets system felt grinder.. The game did an incredible job over all.

I really hate that argument. Just because the game is shorter and reuses map assets doesn't mean it's DLC. Arguably, the Miles Morales game is a spinoff, if not a sequel. You know what's actually glorified DLC? EA's sports games over the past several years.

It’s what a DLC should be and so is The Lost Legacy.

I always thought it was and it’s the only reason why I hated it was expensive, BUT I still love playing it 😂 it made me like miles more now I can’t wait to play more spider man 2

I've always LOVED Miles ever since Spider-Verse and this version of him from Insomniac is just fantastic as well!

Makes me think of Undead Nightmare or Festival of Blood.

To be honest miles morales is supposed to a dlc look at the arkham games. The Harley Quinn expansion is a dlc which is much cheaper than the stand alone game and has a shorter experience. This was something like that. If you have seen arkham knight dlcs then cat woman has her own story and same is with Harley Quinn. They honestly could've put it in a dlc but since corporation want to charge full price they will put it as a stand alone. I have no problem with dlcs if done right but charging almost full price is not justified for the shorter story.

Except none of the expansion packs in the Arkham series come close to the length and effort of the Miles Morales game. You just stupidly assume every sequel should change the wheel from the original.

I actually played this game before the original Spider-Man, and while I think they both hold up really well, I think the original is a better all-around game. I do like shorter experiences, but the story was just not that engaging for me in Miles's game. My biggest pet peeve was that whenever I got the finisher prompt to appear in the final battle, a cutscene would play where Miles gets absolutely beat up by her 😓

Miles Morales story was quite weak for me. As soon as the character who is the tinkerer enters the story you could instantly tell they will be the villain and yet they try to hold off the reveal for far too long and act like a bomb dropped. It definitely felt like dlc to me, if Witcher could do blood and wine and hearts of stone as dlc, they could've done this as dlc.

Please, do Spider 2!!

Its wierd though. There was more to do in this game than Spider-man 2. I beat Mile Morales 100% in 37 hours. Whereas Spider-man 2 only took 22 hours for a platinum.

This is a proper expansion/ midquel. RE3 Remake for example is still considered a glorified DLC for me. Too many cuts to be a proper sequel, and devoid of enough inclusions to be considered a worthy expansion

It’s a good game and may not be longer than its predecessor. It’s still a good spin-off game, and they were preparing him in the upcoming sequel that just came out recently.

What made this game feel DLC the most for me was moving Miles to Harlem, so they could reuse the map. While the story gave a good enough excuse (although the "character is running for a political office" is a cliche trope at this point), if you know the comics Miles is supposed to be living and working from Brooklyn. (It's kind of like moving Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel from New Jersey to New York.) It would have been nice if they therefore had added Brooklyn to the map. Video's about Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, inFamous: First Light and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy would also be interesting.

I'm not a big fan of Miles Morales mainly because I'm just not usually a big fan of passing of the torch characters. Having said that I do like him in these new games but yeah the miles game is essentially glorified DLC.

Miles is a lot better now. His introduction in the Ultimate universe was terrible. Spiderverse did a great job rebooting his character. He never even met Peter in the ultimate comics.

I felt ripped off for $50 and i only got 7 hours of mediocre game and story out of it. that 7 hours is 100%ing the game no less.

A game feauturing the progressive, black Spiderman is worth every asking price, no matter the amount of actual content.

If anything Spiderman 2 is glorified dlc.
