I live in California although I’m finally moving out of this state soon, for many reasons. But 800K is nothing for a house. I think the median house price in San Francisco is 1.5 to 2 million, plus or minus. There was a “cheap” house a few years back on a very small lot, maybe 2K square feet or something. The house was a tear down and I think it might’ve even been condemned. But the property sold for over a half million. It went up for sale one day and it was gone on fewer than 24 hours.

My wife doesn’t like it that I watch and read so much true crime. She thinks that it might teach me how to “commit the perfect murder.” Well, like I told her, “Sure. I suppose I might learn a few tricks that might make it less likely I’ll be caught. But more than that, look at me. I’m the perfect male specimen! I’m way too good looking to kill anyone!” (Naturally this would be a joke although part of it is true, but not the too-good-looking part. But I always argue that reading true crime makes you LESS likely to commit a murder. Why? It’s because you realize “the perfect murder doesn’t exist.” It is a fallacy.)

I would say the two things are not directly related. I certainly know goodhearted people who are also physically attractive. Generally speaking, good looking people do have an easier time in life, and they demonstrably earn more money than the rest of us. They have their own problems, to be sure, from the (relatively) minor issue experienced by beautiful young women, whose intellect & abilities may be discounted at work, or the more serious blow to self esteem when illness and aging inevitably damage beauty.

  • @rebekah7635

@@Tina06019 "beautiful young women, whose intellect & abilities may be discounted at work" There are women who are vicious to good-looking younger women. Including moms trying to put their daughters in dangerous situations. My mom did that. If you read Demi Moore's memoir her mother was even worse and basically arranged for her to be raped. My older brother was also conventionally attractive and our mother would harass him by doing things like waking him up at 2AM so he wouldn't make it to school on time. She bullied him into dropping out of HS, tried that with me also. I mean - people can be vile, vile, vile to their own children if they are jealous of them or think they will out-achieve them. Our mom lives alone in a decaying house, had an amputation surgery because she can't take care of herself. She complains that we don't visit her to her co-workers. If only they knew what a monster she was.
