Organized chaos. These guys are all on a level that most others cannot touch. Truly unappreciated musicians

Claypool rules. Larry is one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
Bassist, singer and spiritual leader of one of the cult bands of the first half of the 90s, Primus, Leslie Edward Claypool, is best known as one of the apostles of slapping (a playing technique aimed at producing percussive sounds on an originally unsuitable instrument). A protean musician and deeply gifted artist, he made his debut in 1984. After being passed over as Metallica's bassist ( because it would have been too good), Claypool formed a band with Todd Huth, which they called Primate before changing the name to Primus. Joined by Larry Lalonde and Tim Alexander, the band began to make a name for themselves with their inimitable style of psychedelic rock, jazz, heavy metal and funk, all in an artistic universe that was both brilliant and quirky!,Like the artists ;Buckethead or Jaco Pastorius( Weather Report)!! Great reaction !!! Glad that someone introduced you to Les Claypool and Primus🔥
My Name is Mud and Jerry Was Race Car Driver! And Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers!
Larry Lalonde is an incredible guitar player. He's a big zappa fan too
Aye someone else requested Primus!
I first fell in love with Primus in college. I’m now 52 so they’ve been around for a while!
Nice one… they’re heyday was in the early 90s. Very hard to categorise. My local record shop in the 90s had a section called U.S Funk/Metal Here you’d find Primus, Jane’s Addiction, RedHot Chili Peppers, Living Color, Faith No More, Infectious Grooves, Fishbone etc. Gorgeous stuff!

Fishbone's next on my list to pile onto Rory 😄 Shh - don't tell him! 😁
Slapping that bass!!! Outrageous fire!🔥🔥
Great trio of musicians
Know them or not, you were watching 3 of the best musicians on the planet. Many can't comprehend their music. Nobody as of yet has been able to reproduce this kind of technical prowess, with the exception of Primus themselves. Thanks for posting!
Primus! 🤘 Great reaction 😄 That bass is ridiculous 🔥
Nobody better than Claypool on bass
Its our duty, as primus fans, to hit up every reaction video person stream and donate enough to get this band out reacted on. Ill give you 100 bucks and send you the dvd if you react to the WHOLE "hallucinogenics" concert sir.
Primus....❤❤❤❤
Keep diving, bro!! So much more equally awesome Primus to uncover!! Hahaha
Yeah.I remember seeing them at a concert. In a football stadium. And I was on the higher up levels. And I was dosed on LSD and I could see. The. Bass. Vibrate the entire stadium. It was amazing.
More Primus dude. They are so great.
Definitely check out more Primus! Incredible bass playing by Les Claypool.
I know Primus now for about 3 years and it’s my favourite band by far
You went into Primus Land and it is Fun!🎉
Just found your channel. Great reaction…and don’t worry about going back for a second (or third) listen when you catch something. It’s your reaction video…we’re here to watch you react.
Fuck, Yeah !!
The Bass God. 3 of the best musicians out there. Pronounced 'Prime us'. Giddy up and take the ride.
If you listen to the studio version you can hear Tom Waits in it as Tommy the cat.
The best version of Tommy the Cat is still on Primus' very first live release "Suck On This" where you can hear every word.
Tom Waits (who I know you're getting into) was guest vocalist on the album version. Les Claypool has been his studio bassist for awhile!
Larry Lalonde, the guitarist, said his two greatest influences were Frank Zappa and Jerry Garcia
Les (the bassist) auditioned for Metallica and James Hetfield said Les was too good for them and he should do his own thing. 1986ish

It was a wind up.
SAY IT BABY!!
You can’t listen to primus or any of the musicians that play with les without smiling les and bucket head priceless
Les Claypool (bass) and "Larry" LaLonde aka "Ler" LaLonde (guitar) have been playing together since 1989. There have been several drummers since the band was formed in 1984. Not sure who's on drums in this performance. I won't give a long history lesson here; anyone can look up the details online. Maybe - after a bit of a break - you could give Primus/Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweakers/Woodstock '94 a go. Live performances of Primus are the best. P.S. Les Claypool and Sean Ono Lennon have released two albums together, calling the band The Claypool Lennon Delirium. The first, Monolith of Phobos, was released in 2016, The second, South of Reality, was released in 2019. A case of "truth is stranger than fiction." - !

Jay Lane on drums here
The person who made me want to learn bass guitar 🎸❤
Yo Rory! Glad you're going down the Primus Rabbit hole. It is a fun one! They're quircky for sure, but so god damn good! The Les Claypool / Geddy Lee comparison is on point. In fact, in terms of musicianship, all 3 in Primus are on par with the guys from Rush. Tim Alexander, the drummer, has such tasty grooves! SUPER underrated. He is the reason I fell in love with this band. Listen to their first 2 albums, "Frizzle Fry" and "Sailing the seas of cheese". Peak Primus right there. Also, if you played Tony Hawk's pro skater on PS1 back in the day, you may have heard their song "Jerry was a race car driver", it was on the soundtrack.
Yep… and Rush took Primus on tour with after their debut album release
Oh, he is definitely saying words. Look up the lyrics...they're half the fun! And, I'd say, yes, they are Zappa-esque. 🙃
Yes!!!! Knew you would love this! I've been waiting for you to get around to this. This is a band of fantastic musicians who have a hilarious sense of humor. They did the theme for South Park. Les Claypool, the bass player, is the best I've ever seen. Fun fact: He auditioned for Metallica years ago and was basically told he was to good to play with them! If you watch the original video of this song, you will understand what he's saying...plus it's a great video. I also HIGHLY recommend Primus' original video of Wynona's Big Brown Beaver.
Les Claypool is spirit unto him self mate, everything he does is another level!!!!
thing is most people have heard Primus but don't realise it, they done the Southpark theme tune
He play that bass like it needs a license.
Winonas Big Brown Beaver.
The music intro to the show South Park right? Crazy music and vocals very different. Thank You Rory for sharing. 😊💓🤘✌️
Les Claypool… an icon amongst bass man…
The "missing link" between Zappa and Primus is Tom Waits.

Tom Waits is on the original version of this song and has collaborated with Primus/Les Claypool on numerous occasions. Waits also opened for Zappa back in the day. There you go.
Yes! I figured you would get around to Primus, they have been my favorite band for many , many years. Like me they are from the bay area, so I've seen them a ridiculous amount of times, some of my best memories. Seen all of Les Claypool's side projects also, and the good thing is, they have a sense of humor. Great reaction Rory, dive into some more of their stuff, you will dig it!
Take a trip Sailing The Seas of Cheese. This will also blow all ya'll away, The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Southbound Pachyderm | Live at House of Blues Peace/JT
To me it is something Zappish with Les Claypool. Check also The Claypool Lennon Delirium.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Southbound Pachyderm | Live at House of Blues
The crowd was huge because they all know one important secret that all Primus fans know: Primus Sucks!! 🤘🏻 I've seen them live 6 times, and they are always better than the last time you see them. It doesn't seen physically possible, but they always get better every time.
That bass though, wow
saw them on tour with RUSH, love all their hits but never delved further... they aight :p
Phuck me, the pits at those primus shows were mayhem × 100!
Now you have to review Primus’ song “Winona’s Big Brown Beaver” too 😂
This rabbithole you must go down The full album deal you do
Listen to the studio version, it features Tom Waits.
its 1991 this song was released
You’re gonna wanna do Wynonna’s Big Brown Beaver, by Primus next… it’s a staple for them
Check out the Album version Tom Waits does vocals of Tommy the Cat
Claypool and Victor….best bass players alive
Les is the bass. When you said Geddy it reminded me that Les played a Rush song (Anthem) on "Two Minutes to Late Night" with Danny from Tool and the singer from Coheed. It's pretty epic!
Try Jerry was a racing driver
Now listen to the Southpark theme tune and see if you notice something.
My favorite bands/artists are Frank Zappa, Primus, Tool, Rush and System of a Down.
Rory if you like this craziness u gotta check out the Cardiacs they are mental mate....do a reaction to their videos "TARRED AND FEATHERED " and "RES" ahhh man you'll be blown away pal.
Primus is killer man you should check out the other songs from this concert like GroundHogs day Bonaroo 2011

The Bass is "Les Claypool" (whome was turned down from Metallica because he was "too good") His whole "matra" was making the bass the center of the universe.....and in my opinion he succeded. Geddy Lee is good but I think Les is better. Larry Lalonde is the guitarist and he is absolutely incredible.....he was taught by Joe Satriani....the best guitarist alive. And lets not forget Tim Alexander on drums....he kills it so much. Primus is what I think of when I think "Superband" Havent heard anyone come even close to their unique sound and sync
lol preemus
Someone can confirm this but I believe Les Claypool audition to play bass for Metallica and they said he was too good

Excerpted from an article By Liz Scarlett( Metal Hammer ) last updated September 20, 2022: "...there's a reason why they didn't pick me (Les). I didn't fit and they saw that. I had my own thing going and it was a wise move on their part. ...Claypool was asked by Kerrang! whether the rumours were true that when he auditioned, Metallica frontman James Hetfield rejected him on the basis of the bassist being too talented for the role, stating "Man, you're much too talented. Go do something wonderfully weird on your own." In response, (Les) said, "He definitely did not say that. He said that later on in an interview, which was very kind of him. I think they thought I was a freak. They were very nice...and, of course, I knew Kirk [Hammett, guitar] from high school. "But I think that James thought I was some sort of thug. Put it this way, I definitely didn't look the part." As for what Metallica would have sounded like with the funk-infused style of Claypool's, he imagines "Well, however it would have sounded, I would have only lasted for a month or two before they kicked me out. They've got enough chefs in the kitchen in that band - they don't need a guy like me."
The studio version has Tom Waits on vocals!
Find some videos of Les Claypool and Buckethead.... too much talent on one stage.
Les Claypool is the GOAT
Sorry late to the party but a suggestion for you pull up the lyrics before you watch any Primus videos because Les sings so fast....the lyrics are pretty funny it's a big part of who they are...😊
Pronounced Pr -eye - mus
Les Claypool is god!
We love primus and yes they suck.
Welcome to Primus! Primus sucks!
Primus SUCKS! I freakin love these guys. While I think it's fair to say that they're creatively in the same ballpark as Zappa, Primus truly created their own genre. There really isn't another band that compares to the way they play or write songs.
PRIMUS SUCKS 👍🤘❤🔥
Can tell right away not Tim on drums does not sound right at all
Primus sucks.
Primus Sucks
Primus sucks
There are some other good videos from that Bonnaroo 2011 concert online as well. I really like "Groundhog Day" which is from my favorite album of them ("Frizzle Fry").
