Looking at the replays, I'm glad no one went down and no horse pile up. Initially it didn't look that serious, but the fact that no one got hurt is a huge win.

How can Moss say "the best horse won"?? The horse to the right was clearly ready to overtake maximum security. Who knows what would have happened after that, but to say the best horse won is bull shit!

I agree. A jockey could easily be killed in a pile up, and given the amount of money put into these horses, it could have gotten ugly really quick. Not only loss of a horse but stud fees and such after successful seasons amount to big dollars. That is why they have rules and regulations, it is not a free for all.

If this was track and field and a runner had exited their lane like this horse did, they would potentially have been DQ'ed regardless of impeding another runner. Watching the video, it was clearly interference.

MS held the field back at his desire, almost the whole race. Then in the stretch when the horses were finally free and able to go around the 7. There was the 7's ass again, right in front of them. Completely knocked those 2 horses out (1-18) too much of a loss of momentum that could never be regained in pure slop. 7 played that race cheap and he deserved DQ.

Bodiexpress was also taken out of the race in addition to #18. It was the jockey on 18 who was 58 year old Jon Court who filed the first objection. He's an experienced vet and was very pissed off his #18 horse was taken out by Max Security. Randy Moss should never say Max Security was the best horse because several horses(the 1, 18, 20 and 21) all were slowed or taken out of the race and all 4 of them might have passed Max Sec if not taken out. And Moss should know that once a horse is bumped they often run scared and are afraid to try to pass anyone

Ireland, UK, South Africa, Hong Kong, cancel and reschedule races for the safety of their riders and horses. They don't run this many horses on a track with turns. They use a straight track. Churchill Downs has more horse deaths and injuries than Santa Anita, but they chose to humiliate a jockey and a horse before the world for safety rules!!! Max behaved the best of all the horses, and the rider did a fantastic job staying focused to the finish line. Flavian Prat on Country House lied. I didn’t notice that MS changed leads... I shall go back and review the slo mo, ... yet again. I would have to agree that thankfully there wasn’t a clicking of heels that would have brought one or several down in a pile up.. The decision to disqualify Maximum Security was terrible and unprofessional on behalf off the Horse Racing Federation of the USA....First off all, there was no objection in the race but rather a stewards inquiry. This inquiry was way too long for such a simple reason to be used as the basis of the disqualification, SUSPECT. Secondly, the leading horse owns the ground, since this horse, based on fare reasoning is allowed to drift within a specified limit, simply put, there are no lanes in horse racing. Thirdly, no direct and/or significant contact was made by Maximum Security unto another horse or horses despite the harsh weather conditions on the track...at the top of the home turn with mud galore, well then there should have been other steward inquires as well. Fourthly, money makes money....an opportunity opened up and the Horse Race Federation saved a lot of MONEY because of this disqualification....And this is how the cookie crumbled...!!!

Joel Sterling that’s a different thing no one knows what happened, it could be the track itself. In the 1920’s some of the best horses went lame with horrendous tracks that never even got a lost shoe in a race. The racing conditions aren’t the problem nor the weather. Hell American Pharoah won the Preakness in much worse conditions than this than the Belmont.

Merenie Crosby because the rules state that they have to be. Jockey’s are expected to control these horses at all times because of how dangerous the races are. Even if a horse spooks over something like MS did he the jockey could not control him enough to nearly cause a fatal accident. The owner should have seen problems with the crowd and horses spooking all day and thought ahead. The stewards know this and the only way to penalize them is to dq them, especially since it is fair to the ones who were affected.

It’s a different bump, MS actually almost tangled his legs with the one horse, and caused the jockey to pull up at the peak of the race, at that time you’re asking the horse to go all out, pulling back causes him to lose momentum. Not including the fact that it could have caused a fatal pile up on the track.

Looking at the replay over and over again, you can clearly see that only the 1 horse and the 18 horse were affected by the "interference" of the 7 horse (Maximum Security). BUT, one horse benefited by the "check-up" of the 1 and the 18. That's the 20 horse. And the name of that horse? Country House. You can't make this call. By DQ'ing Max, you actually give the race to the horse which benefited by the slight check-up of the other two horses. A good no call would have been the right call, especially considering it was obvious that Max was the best horse in the field. Also, Randy Moss (lol) insisted that the "drift" was all the horse's fault. But, then, later suggests that the stewards were sending a message due to the danger of the situation. What?? You can't send messages to horses. Ridiculous. Maximum Security is the winner. I'm hoping this is overturned on appeal.

In Australia, the rider of the winner would have received a hefty holiday, particularly if it occurred in a Group 1 race .. in taking its running, Max Security did so as the other horse was travelling so well that his forelegs were landing almost level with the back of the leaders barrell. The jockey on Max made NO effort to straighten his mount and the 1 saddlecloth had to ease, no chance in the wet to pick up again . But in the US, an offender doesnt get relegated to behind the protester, they simply get disqualified! There is no doubt that Max interfered significantly and the jockey kept riding the same way .. clear cut!

@@jayritchie851 What happened 99% of the race was totally and completely irrelevant since there was no foul. We will never know which horse would have won the race if there was no illegal obstruction by #7. Maybe you have psychic power but I do not. You are just totally and completely guessing that #7 would have won with or without the foul. You clearly do not know and do not have any proof that #7 is the fastest horse out there last Saturday. That still did not change the fact #7 committed a foul and be disqualified. Jockeys force other horses wide all the time. If they just run wide and don't cut in front of the other horse that is racing. Years ago a filly won the Derby and went on to the Preakness. Horses deliberately forced her wide all race and she lost. WOW practically ran into MS hind end moving out behind him. He was extremely close. Other horses in the race pulled over on other horses too including CH earlier. Its a shame this happened. The jockey did all he could do but horses spook at things to us would be stupid. They think there is a monster coming to get them.
