@Thomas Sanlanderer, the reason for "fully modular" power supplies being "fully modular" is because if you want to change your cable set you can. High end builds will often change out their cable sets for proper length as well as color coordinate the build. Personally, I LOVE fully modular supplies, even if I'm using fully enclosed PCs. Once I went modular, I'll never go back. LOL

there's also dual PSU setups where the only thing you want on the ATX connection is the control signal from the mobo, for an always on PSU, first bleed of a custom watercooling loop, or if you want to run a loop on a second PSU for whatever reason. Some SoC's can be run from the 4 pin cpu supplementary power connector and you still need to be able to jump the PSU to make it work.

They're also great for repairs. I had my supply die on me a while back and I was able to swap it for a new one without undoing all my cable management.

@@chdn Just make sure it's 1:1...don't use a eVGA 1000W Gold in place of a silver, or even a 850W Gold in place of a 1000W Gold...They aren't the same. Almost got burned on that. Same goes for the cables, don't swap the cables around either.

@@WreckDiver99 yeah that's a good call out. I did check the compatibility of my cables before replacing. It's a shame the industry cant standardize on modular cables.

@@chdn They can't even within their own supplies. I had an eVGA 1000W go bad in my old Core i7. I didn't think it was the PS so I said "Well, time to build that AMD Ryzen 5". Did a budget build...Old PS, Memory, Graphics card....didn't work. FFS, it was the PS that died, no the i7 MB or Processor. OK...off the MicroCenter for a new PS...First thing I said "Well, at least I can just swap the supply", the guy said "NOPE...Wiring isn't the same, you'll blow your system". I was "WAIT, they are both eVGA supplies"...he said "yes, and they aren't pinned out the same and they just change it at the device end. Glad he said something, and yes, verified that it wasn't the same. Close call there!

If your looking for more inexpensive laser safety goggles, Uvex/Honeywell have made a lot of them that turn up as industrial surplus, often unused in original packaging. There are a number of fitting styles, but some fit well over glasses, and they have the OD protection ratings for the bands they're designed printed on the frame.

Wow. At that price I would expect an absolutely silent power supply and steppers. For the price it's crazy loud.

I have a very similar machine, the Ecubmaker ToyDIY. The biggest difference is that the ToyDIY has due color printing. I don't think they offer a rotary option.

I can recommend some class IV laser protective goggles, but those are made and sold in Saint Petersburg, so it won't be easy to get those nowdays. I have a couple and they are great at filtering even 15W lasers to nothing. Look for LLS-NoIR, if you can find those - get em. The next best thing is Thorlabs laser safety goggles. Those are very expensive, but are good too. Don't buy cheap goggles. Anything below €200 is most likely rated for up to 200-300mW and won't protect your eyes against this thing. You'll need very high optical density and this stuff ain't cheap. The thing about 1.5W laser is that even a reflection from a very black object is more than enough to make you irreversibly blind in a couple of seconds. Direct exposure won't just make you blind, it will literally burn you.

You know why there fully modular power supply's with every cable being able to disconnect it's because people want different colored cables and you can get custom length.

I have been looking into the Snapmaker line for the last while and recently decided not to purchase one of the 350 versions. Reasoning was the 3d printing was too locked in and proprietary in the hardware design. Don't much care for the laser engraving. And the cnc design is way too cheaply designed with the servo lead screws and inherent backlash. And overall the noise level of the psu fan and stepper motor drivers, not much excuse for a bench top machine to still be using outdated motor drivers.

Ya no thanks! I don't agree to any of that! I own the printer and don't agree to share any of my information especially since they aren't responsible for my data, they can just F' off! Sorry Thomas but that's a bad, bad product. Open source is the way to go and not this proprietary stuff. Nice product but needs open source software and the ability for the end user to opt out to use the product they purchased an own. It's not their device.
