A cheap 49mm lens holder and a x2 diopter lens cures the focus issue, plus you can stack a cpl filter too. Skin tones look too pink too, how do we cure the pinkness ive only got the ipad too

@@Cameraflyer- As you deal with a fixed focus lens, you can't have both. Those have a minimum focus distance with which you have to deal with, in one way or the other.

@@Cameraflyer- GoPro's have a different minimal focus distance. Go below that and you get an unsharp foreground with a sharp background too. Which cameras focus distance fits you and your needs better is a different story.

Great review! I was looking for it and it's good to know your honest opinion after using it for a while. I have a go3, I love it but it fell so many times that today I had to leave it for repair, good thing I got and insurance for it 😅. For this reason, I'm looking for a robust camera, do you think the Ace Pro would still be a good option? I really like the insta360 app, free frame, etc. so I'm not sure if I should switch to another brand. Also, do you think the focusing issue could be solved with a DJI mic 2 wireless connected? If not would you recommend the Action 4 or another camera? Thanks in advance!

Any wireless mic may improve the system but you'd still need to pay attention to distance. Pity because the Ace Pro is so good from every other perspective. Can't recommend the GP12 from my experience. People like the DJI Osmo Action 4, but I've never used one. Still love my G) 3!

Ace Pro screen can't be seen when you are wearing polarised sunglasses. Really surprised more people haven't mentioned that! Makes it very tricky to use in direct sunlight!

This is not so surprising when you consider that the screen has an anti-reflection coating. These usually work with polarization. But yes, many users overlook this. And it also depends on the kind of polarization the sunglasses have. On some the effect ist not as strong as on others.

Nice update, apparently Insta have something coming out very soon for the close focus issue in the form of an accessory kit to fix this.

I love the Go3, it though is a pain to download the clips if you only have a mobile device. For Ace Pro now I guess you can have a bluetooth mic that could resolve the issue with the focal length. I don’t like vlogging and with the phone I never know where I should look 😂😂😂 Cool review! Have a great day

Hi there - and thanks. Bluetooth mics never have audio that's great, but it is convenient for sure. I used a wifi wireless mic with my Ace Pro in Teamlab borderless and it was great - just need to be further away from your subject than you necessarily might think because of this minimum focus distance thing. Also seems worse in bright light from what I can tell. And lol about phone vlogging - I hear you!

Easy to fix with a diopter filter. And filters are useful to take along anyway (polarizer, ND, especially). Just b/c out of the box there's an adjustment to be made doesn't mean you have to rethink the whole kit. The on-board denoise (AI) is worth it.

@@TheTechPacker It is a workaround and shifts the depth of field. Yes, though the strength of the diopter will set the degree. With fixed aperture and fixed focal length cameras, the options are few. The one R/RS wide angle had the same design choice. I see what you’re saying about vlogging, but action cams have always been a compromise for that use case.

Relieved to find you haven't put the X cameras on your naughty step as I've just invested in an X4! Face shooting is no problem for me as I prefer to keep mine firmly off-camera. 😉

Try the DJI Pocket 3. You'll love it for up close vlogging. Flow is very good, but you can't see the screen and it's much bulkier and the set-up is harder than the pocket 3.

The phone for the Flow is the screen. V easy to see. Set up is easy - been using it for months. And the Pocket 3 creator combo is completely unavailable in NZ

Good that I do not have to use only one brand and can buy the best product for the application. ... You wanna vlog selfi style with a small setup ... DJI Pocket series exist ...

Yes - I have an original Pocket - prefer the Insta360 Flow with my phone

And this is why the DJI Osmo Action 4 is my go to.

Fair enough - never used one.

Man complains about soft focus on action camera whilst having most of his face out of focus on studio camera 😂 Have Go2 and X2 plus One R 1". Still use all of them and was really tempted by X4 and Ace Pro but I'm holding out, especially after seeing what Jeven Dovey and iphonedo had to say about their shady practices. The DJI Pocket 3 is the best all rounder anyways providing it's not wet.

Like I say, insta360 have always been decent in my dealings with them. Just highlighting what I’ve found and showing the footage.

This is my favorite style of video that you make. So I met a guy a few months back with a DJI Pocket 2. I moved. The DJI Pocket 2 guy and I got on the elevator and we live in the same floor. He was holding an X3. I have 15th floor BFF. :-) Great stuff!!!

@@TheTechPacker We have mixed use community commercial, residential and retail. There are only just so many buildings to live in (12-15).

Full on one of the shadiest companies in the camera industry and what a kick in the pants they gave us 2.7 in 2024 on the Go 3. I love you are coming around on the ACE Pro. Good on ya mate!

​@@TheTechPackerit has a focus issue and they are trying to hide it. I think up close this camera fails and your footy shows that...it needs a diaptor to work up close. I think there a few other issues with the camera but your examples show the big one for sure.

Overdoing the background blur filter on this one. Very distracting.
