The issue with it was was that from what I remember it spawned randomly on the map, sometimes way closer to one side of the battlefield than the other, where one side could just drive over to it in full cover and cap it.

I mean they just have to set up a parameter in which are the cap can arrive, maybe even have it descend first to give time to prepare Maybe even favor the losing team? Would definetely help to make the game mode more fun, I mean there has been no new game mode since years. After many years of playing, I would like to do more than just capping 1-3 points every game.

This video just made me more begrudged with the game. When I started playing WT I genuinely felt like there were developers actively trying to improve maps and gamemodes. It doesn't feel that way anymore.

I left years ago, around the time they finally released the long-awaited World War mode and it was just another Capture the Point mode. I doubt anything has changed since then, and I don't think you should hold out hope of that ever changing.

The best game I had one time was when our while team was spamming "Attack the D point!" for the entire duration of the match. We were steamrolling everyone on the opposing team with little to no casualties on our side. The motivational power of the D point cannot be underestimated here. We won because we believed on ATTACK THE D POINT!

I still do remember the time when I was in person to attack the D point, in a Sherman, with artillery balsting all over me and my teammates, rushing in there and clearing out the Jerries, claiming the point, and securing the final victory, those were good times.

Can’t you just use “Thank you” if someone repairs you?

omg this triggered my memory. I remember getting so frustrated at my team's reluctance to capture the D point.

Funny thing is, the AI tanks I encountered in tank arcade matches prior to their removal were nowhere near as problematic as described in this video; they rarely ever fired, and even then had horrible accuracy that would make an Imperial Storm Trooper look like the world's best sniper by comparison. I actually wish they would bring them back, as they were an easy source of XP & SL farming.

I think you've got a good thing going here on this channel! I'm definitely glad that I found another quality War Thunder youtuber. The D point was actually a part of air arcade, idk if it is there still, but there was a gamemode where you had to land on 4 different airfields and by landing on them you could capture them. One of these points were the D point

Defend the D point for your welcome is a great idea! I have been using it in game for quite a while now and even say it in discord to my other friends who play war thunder as a means of saying your welcome.

Protect the D point, Attack the D point. Is all I heard when I read the title.

Who could've though that the D point would actually make a comeback in the new April fools event!

I like your idea of adding a different meaning behind defend the D point!

My personal definition of the "D point" is the enemy's spawn. So basically, when ordering to "attack the D point", you're ordering to attack the enemy's spawn and spawnkill them, which is comedic in itself.

Also, The D point exists in Air AB as a runway that you can capture. In some runway capture missions there are four runways, A, B, C, and D, so the D point means the D runway in those games. Also, they don't want to bother changing it.

How about a similar video on why the balloons on Normandy show up in the kill feed? For those who don't know, back in the day you would get a very small amount of SL and RP per every balloon you shot down. There was always a race to kill as many of them as possible in the beginning of the match. There's a lot of new players in the game and I'd bet some old ones may have forgotten about it as well. It's a similarly useless but interesting tidbit as the D point.

I remember when the Carpathians has bots charging with you, Kursk had AI anti-tank gun batteries and a swarm of bots, Gualdacanal has a fleet of landing ships and landing boats with AA guns, and the D point still exists with the cargo plane airdrop. These AIs really added to the battlefield atmosphere of the game, but of course they deleted all of them because greedy bastards don't want you to kill AIs in order to grind through stock parts and FPEs - "it's like giving out a free Abrams". P.S. The D point was also used in Helicopter arcade battles (remember that shitshow? LOL), along with E, F, and G points. The UI still only goes up to D though.

There is D point in game actually, you can sometimes see it in air battles(simulator battles)

Oh man this brings back memories. I don't remember it it vividly but I do definitely recall playing Carpathians when there still was a D point. That was in the early days of my War Thunder career.

The D point on Carpathians was a smaller capture zone, large enough for around 2 tanks. Inside the zone were some actual supply crates with maybe some cargo netting covering one of them, this was a long time ago so I can't describe 100% how it looked like but it gives you a general idea. I don't remember what triggerd it to appear. Still remember capturing it like it was yesterday.

Based on the structure of the video its one of the best ive seen in a while. Nice intro, sections are split into parts, sources in the description. Very nice. Only way to improve it is if you time stamp the different parts within your video. Anyways great work.

The D point was also on Kursk, i have capped it a few times myself, it was a random chance for a plane to go down with intelligence, that you could then capture for tickets

There used to be a D point on more than just the map mentioned, in Air Arcade, quite early on there was a couple maps that did have a D point runway to capture. However, since I've not played AB in so long, I don't know what happened to them.

I recall camping in a spot on Carpathians a few years ago when the crate spawned right on top of me and I ended up capping the D point by myself without even moving.

There also used to be a battle mode called Break, where each team held two zones and they had to be captured in succession: Team 1 had zones A and B, and Team 2 had zones C and D. Team 2 would have to assault and capture zone A before B became available, while Team 1 had to attack and capture C before D became available.

That D point feature really did and easily could turn the tide of a match for a clutch or a stomp.

I remember a lot of bots on Carpathian and Kursk, thats was a great time...

The D point also existed on the kuban map, where a Yak-9T would shoot down a Do-217 above the battlefield, and where the crash site would become the D point, with the objective of capturing the secret documents the plane was carrying. It also existed in heli arcade battles for a while, alongside the A, B, C, E and F point (

Don't have any footage of it, but I was playing War Thunder back in the days when the D point existed. Capped a few as well. The capture circle was tiny, and an actual supply drop of sorts (models of what looked like long green rectangular boxes stacked into a cube) was spawned for it. The cap circle around the crate was just big enough that only a single tank would fit between the crate and the circle border. The crate was about the height of your tank's hull, but it didn't have a hit box so shells could just whiz right through it. The spawn was supposed to be random but it seemed to only ever spawn on the hill that overlooked the entire map when I was playing. Usually on the side of a near-vertical hill.

when i play carpathians i always try to remember to hit attack the D point at the start of the game. old players get it and i do sometimes get people responding saying it should be back in the game. i only ever got the point three times. to start with i didn't know what it looked like (it was a pile of boxes if you didn't know). but i soon stopped going for it as everyone would drop arty on it and you could be sniped from the rocks by both sides. the number of times i got killed crawling up the slop. it was a fun little extra and would be nice to see back in the game.

The D point is in air RB and you can call out attack the D point to highlight one of the four bases (on the 4 base maps)

I've never even realized this was just on carpazi. I haven't seen it for long enough to notice that, but I do remember it

bots themselves quite had changes over time, with map variations. (they lasted longer than D) one were they would spawn later, at the outside area of the maps and drove in a group, with one tank being a "commander" with a mission to kill it. another where they would spawn early and drive to the middle of the map.

I can remember that D point was existing (or exist) in low-tier naval battles, in this type of battle you need to capture 2 neutral points, then capture enemy point

I remember there were three bases for the bomber in the ground rb, which were quite similar to the old D point.

The title : "Guardian of the D point" would be awesome

i remember the D point and the frontlines mode which had multiple changing objectives and moving spawns where there were a total of six points (3 for allies to capture and 3 for enemies to capture). it was chaotic because the spawns would follow the points so it was pretty easy to accidentally start spawn camping so gaijin removed it. I really would like to see them bring it back though

i've seen that on one air arcade map (airfield cap) there was a fourth airfield marked as a D point. i've only played on it once and i've never seen it again as i no longer play arcade.

By the way, the D point (as well as A, B and C) are bases, bases in air battles, i once tryed to type attack the D point and it marked an enemy base.

The D point exists. in 2018, It was a cap point on sim sands of sinia, sim sands of tunisia and sim fields of normady. The map configurations would contain the sections which would be split into 2 different maps in RB and AB. But were 1 big map in sim. Unfortunatly, these were removed right when gaijin added MBTs which would benefit from large maps. The same time they removed BR bracket maps.

I remember point d very well and where it spawned, it spawned between the modern points B and C. I miss this mechanic with the point D I've been playing since the Spring March update and I was always surprised by the appearance of this point

You posted the video in February, and we actually got a D, E and F points in the Cyberpunk warfare event

The D point existed on other maps too. I remember on Kuban there would be a Pe-2 AI that would crash and that would be the D point. The objective being to rescue the pilot and Intel or capture them depending on team. I believe this was also on another map but I can't recall. Additionally the D point i believe still exists in Air game modes and Enduring Confrontations.

Ah the old D-point. I had forgotten it was on carpathia, had seen it capped by both friendly and enemies, even captured it myself over the years since I begun playing early 2014 until it was removed, took a long break before it was removed and didn't find anything odd before it was pointed out now

I believe there was another D- Point on the Kuban map where a Pe-2 would crash during the battle and you had to recover documents from it.

I kinda like the idea of a new point or something else coming in dynamically in a map to give an advantage to the team that captures it/destroys it or whatever. It would add a little bit of good randomness, and something that players will really want to fight over. That’s just my thoughts on it though

I had this on in the background and someone in War Thunder sent an "Attack the D point" message at the start of the match

Basically it was a basic regular airdrop that had a cap circle around it and if you capped it it would disappear if i remember correctly

it could just be my imagination but i for sure remember that some arcade air battles map had a capturable or bombable d point too.
