I am playing this game and I am struggling to enjoy it after spending so much time on battle brothers. Its the same as when I played dark souls I couldn't get into skyrim. Its not that I think the game is bad and I like the studio north guard is quailty. I'll spend more time and see if my mind opens.

I was a good 10h in on my first save before i realized you could actually assign party members to "stations" in the camp. Could not for the life of me understand why i didnt get those extra points. Absolutely love the game so far, takes me back to the good old pen & paper days.

Am off to purchase Dead Island 2 for my next review, if it drops midnight then review will be Friday evening or early saturday.

One of the main reasons why I love your channel other than giving me a good laugh, is because you recommend these gems that I would never have heard of other wise. Even if its not really my kind of thing, I still appreciate the review.👍

Battle brothers is my favorite game and I really like warband. I am happy to see more great entries in those kinds of games.

The indies are cleaning up the game scape! I wish we’d have more indie voices in other media too…

Enjoyed the longer format and classic Mack production (intro, music, etc)!

Can confirm this is a lot of fun for the right audience. This game, at times, harkens back to CRPG's of the 90's and even 80's. It's a major slow burn but quite rewarding - the challenge might blow your mind if you're primarily accustomed to modern games. I hit the second zone after maybe ten hours and, whooo-boy, is it hard.

@@GangsterFrankensteinComputer Pretty thin to be honest, I’d say it’s deep enough for the games stronger suits to hang their hats upon. The game does have atmosphere. This is one of those games that I recommend to some of my friends, but not all of them.

This is a gem of a game and your review was spot on as usual. The customisation is great and the ability to play bands as diverse as cannibal a..holes, champions of the downtrodden or enforcers of the law makes it very replayable. Slight learning curve and some fiddly minigames with some of the professions, but nothing really irritating.

Lovely little game. Sunk hours into it in EA. If you can stream it or do a series playing this I will watch

Based on you review I (confidently) recommended this to 3 mates and turns out 2 of them already had it but never really played it so the 4 of us played it coop today and it was brilliant. Thanks for this one Mack. I would have never even thought to look had it not been for you.

Game is incredible. Saw it on steam early access but forgot about it. Now it's on pc gamepass and wow is it worth it. Been a while since I've enjoyed a game. This game is a breath of fresh air.

Wartales is a wonderful game. A must have for any turn based strategy enthusiast. Suprises around every corner. So much fun.

Noticed this game a while ago and was hoping for a review as it looked quite interesting. For sure on my wishlist.

Played this very early on when I was craving a tactile build your party RPG. The open world, music, and different builds ticked a lot of boxes for me. Here's hoping the mod community steps in to create new worlds from other movies/games too

Imagine someone doing Cyrodil from the elder scrolls, but not oblivion's Cyrodil. The Cyrodil from lore, massive overpopulated cities full of racial tension, different religious orders, monasteries, chantries, knightly orders, mercenary bands, thieves, rogue wizards. 😮 😅

Glad you enjoyed this one. I have been having a blast with it. I am doing the same thing and exploring every little bit of the first zone.

Something about it reminds me of Darklands from back in the day. Definitely going to buy. Thanks for the review!

This looks great, loved your review. I just recently started playing Divinity HD and it’s got me hooked, I’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time playing it over the last 10 days, staying up into the wee hours! I love isometric style RPGs more that first/third person (over the shoulder view). This’ll be on my wishlist and I’ll pick it up after I’ve completed Divinity 1 & 2 😂

Divine Divinity is a kick-ass game also!! It's one of Larian Studio's first games, but it's a good one!!

This feels like the Darkest Dungeon but in 3D and deeper than that. I think I will check this out soon.

I got the early access when it came out, couldn't believe how hooked I got on it! With the full release out I've recently jumped back on. Such a good game 👍

I just purchased this one 2 days ago. Since it was on special 25% off- man what an awesome concept. I am loving it to bits. Reminds me of Wasteland 3, Xcom and Bannerlord 2. I agree the map is weird as there is no natural north - just the way you are facing with the camera. Frame drops here and there are real. Love it to bits. I like the semi uphill nature of the battles sometimes

I really like this game as well. Have had a lot of fun with it so far.

Got 20 something hours in the game and really enjoying it. Such a time eater, when I am not playing it, I wish I was playing it. Certainly wish you could zoom out or in a bit more but have learned to live with it. Hopefully they will continue to make improvements here and there but man I really love this game so far.

Great to see a gem come out the rough.

4 minutes is all I need to be convinced to buy this. Most honest reviewer, I am so glad you do this Mack.

I think this could have benefitted from being set in a high fantasy setting. I love low fantasy humans-only stuff, but for a video game I like a lot of variety.

Yeah I’m getting kind of tired of the “dark grounded medieval fantasy” or just straight up medieval stuff by this point. We need whimsical fantasy with all the funky magic and elves and shit again.

Only a matter of time before someone does this in a fantasy setting. I've played Battle Brothers, but I find the battle map strangely hard to figure out visually. It's too "flat".

1:22 oh hell yeah they put an option to get rid of the Oblivion style enemies leveling with your party system. That's what put me off from picking this up sooner when it was in early access. Definitely have to give it a go now.

This reminded me of Battle Brothers. Also a game I imagine Mack would enjoy.

Been watching this on Steam for a while. You may have just tipped me over that purchasing edge.

This is a great game, fortunately I've not had any issues with frame drops. I started where everything levels up as you do instead and I didn't like that so I might restart and make a new game where you have to unlock regions instead.

That is possibly the best Photoshop job yet

Nice. Think I'll have to pick it up as I've been looking for something to move onto from Battle Brothers.

I did a series of small changes mainly I can think of disabled Vsync and some tweaks in setting and DPI and the fps drops are like 85% down. very much enjoyable now.

Such a great game for the price. I run it on my Steam Deck and I swap from handheld to docking the Deck and playing it with M/K and monitor. Runs great! No complaints at all. Thanks for your awsome review!

I’ve been playing this game since early access and playing it with my gf when the coop update came out. I recommend this game to anyone who loves medieval Strat games.

sometimes the tutorial not existing is a good thing. Those games you have to figure out for yourself are always the ones you remember

buddy of mine picked it up and we were playing co-op for my 1st few hours.. then he went to work.. and i cant stop playing it since then lol :) you forgot to mention you can have up to 4 (maybe more) player co-op and each person controls thier own people

The only problem I had with this game is trying to find who is who at the start of battle to place them. If it had a list of all your guys at the top this would be a perfect game. Only other issue is xp scaling after level 6. A lot of grinding but the devs are aware of this and said they'll balance it.

I really hope they will make it for the consoles and / or for Mac.

How is the experience with this compared to Battle Brothers? which is the nearest experience I've got.

Now, I just want a bit of this and a bit of Bannerlord romance with RTS/SpellforceIII alike combat (with RPG characters but in realtime strategy formula).
