it's so incredibly frustrating and disappointing to see Sally stoop to this level. it never fails to disgust me to see this kind of behavior, especially since I've been groomed in a similar way before. I hope the victim is doing okay and has broken contact with Sally and anyone involved in keeping this under wraps

Can’t believe how creepy Sally went about it. Grooming was the true issue- telling the victim to hide it until they turned 18. Someone who’s 21 is at an age to be finishing college if they went- and starting a career. A 17 year old hasn’t graduated high-school. They’re just at different life stages. As we get older age difference matters less because the younger person hasn’t had the life experience to recognize the weird patterns of behavior. I certainly didn’t at 17 and I got into several concerning relationships because of it. Now that I’m older I look back in horror and wish someone could send me a video like this one. Thanks for spreading the word.

Also hey, to anyone watching this video, I understand this is a very overwhelming and upsetting situation for a lot of people, especially those like myself who looked up to Sally as an inspiration. However, something people are doing that they should NOT be is just saying things like "noo omg she was my fav animator/why are all my fav animators weirdos??" we should focus our attention on the severity of this situation. Your primary concern should be the well being of the victims and the people who are at risk with having people like this in the community, and the hurt and pain caused by these situations. We should be holding people accountable, and keep focused on staying safe and doing better, as well as making sure the victims/potential victims are comfortable and feel supported in this community. Not Just being upset that you cant watch your favorite cat animations anymore. Of course you can voice your disappointment in Sally, especially being someone so many people were inspired by, but please make sure your treating this as a genuinely serious and upsetting situation, and not an inconvenience. Very nicely put video.

As someone who was gr//med as a minor, it breaks my heart seeing someone I looked up to as both a teen and young adult turn out to be someone like my own former abuser. I can only hope those affected by Sally's actions are in a better place and can find ways to move on from this now that it's out in the open. I never got that chance, and I try my best to let those in my own small community know what to look out to and if they are a minor and that if a adult in my own community space makes them uncomfortable to tell me so I can do my best to get that adult out and reported while giving them the tools to reach out to a adult in their irl life, as its so important for kids online to have those tools. A lot of newer generation kids don't seem to be getting the same kind of internet safety lessons anyone around 19-22 as of this year did, it's more accepted to let kids wander around freely and only after they find or get into a dangerous situation is it delt with (and sometimes very poorly), it should be the adults in these very kid oriented fandoms/communities to be aware of the minors around them and give them the tools and resources to keep them safe from people like this, because we should know by now that every community online that so much as barely touches kid oriented content will have a large amount of minors who won't have the resources or knowledge of warning signs, and even still when it happens it can be hard for young people to realize at first whats really happening...

1:55 I would like to highlight this message, specifically the part of "a 17 and an 18 having the same mindset". The phrase itself it's not wrong, there's not much difference between the two, wich makes the 18 year old *still very young to be with a +20 year old*. People usually dismiss any kind of abuse when the victim is 18 or a bit higher, when in reality you aren't wiser because your country sees you as an adult, you're still vulnerable to people older and/or with more influence than you. I feel really sorry for the victims of this person and I hope they manage to recover properly. I wish we all knew about this a long time ago.

There’s some science behind why this is true. In terms of human development, the brain is undergoing significant cognitive changes through at least age 20. There’s not a specific age at which a person is mentally an adult, but the brain isn’t there until sometime after 21 and usually isn’t there until around 23-25. So people over 18, specifically people who are 18-20/21, not being much wiser than 17 makes sense. Because, at least in the US, 18-20/21 is considered to be part of the final stage of adolescence. While a person is legally an adult at 18 in most places, they’re still an adolescent for a few more years and are at risk of manipulation.

I know many here are going to mention how upset they are at one of their inspirations being terrible, but please, know that this isn’t the time or place to be doing that. It’s completely fair to be upset about it but rather than focusing on the “loss” of another animator, we should be focusing on the victims and making sure situations like this don’t happen so rampantly in this fandom, as stated in this video. Right now, what’s needed is support for the victims and a very clear uproar against this kind of treatment of minors in the fandom and it’s perpetrators. Don’t go around making memes, don’t make any jokes about this, don’t solely talk about losing another artist. I know this happened a year ago, but I still thought I'd put my two cents in since it occasionally gets discussed to this day. Some people are mentioning that there was only a 3-year age gap between Sagutoyas and her partner, who at the time were 20 and 17 respectively. This small age gap is used to justify that the situation is being blown out of proportion. I can somewhat understand this sentiment, because sensationalism is definitely a growing problem these days. But the problem is that there is a LOT of growth and maturing that takes place between 17 and 20. As a matter of fact, a quick Google search will give you many sources that say people typically reach full maturity at age 25. Much of our natural and mental maturing takes place during our late teens, and this makes age gaps around that period larger than what the raw numbers say. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to undermine the maturity of Sagutoyas' victim at all! But I think 17 and 20 are different enough in maturity that Sagutoyas had the upper hand, for the lack of a better term. I don't have any experience with being groomed besides getting molested in preschool, so maybe I'm not the best person to voice my opinion. But my point is that the outrage towards Sagutoyas is, in my opinion, completely valid. It's a shame to see more groomers being unearthed. I didn't become active in the fandom until 2018, and even then I wasn't too familiar with Sagutoyas, so I don't have that sense of betrayal that other people do. But the fact that such an influential figure can have that kind of drama easily hidden behind closed doors... it's very unnerving.

As someone in their mid 20's who remembers being an older teen very well, *i cannot stress* how much the age gaps between a 16 and a 19 year old, an 18 year old and a 21 year old, or a 21 year old and a 25 year old matter. They sound like really small gaps when you just consider the numbers themselves, but there are massive differences in maturity there; they are literally developmental milestones, and it's extremely hard to explain until you've grown and experienced it yourself. The most important thing to understand, though, is that *no normal adult is going to be emotionally or physically attracted to an 18 year old.* As a teenager- even if you're 19- you are a smol child to someone in their mid 20s. You can have some really good older friends- and in communities like this you almost certainly will!!- but there's a difference between someone being friends with you and someone turning their filter off because they know they can convince you that it's okay. There is literally nothing more important I can think of to reiterate here than *trust your gut.* If someone is making you uncomfortable, if you feel anxious, if someone is telling you things that sound off to you, *trust yourself,* don't just brush it off. Even if you don't jump immediately to blocking, talk to your other friends!! Ask them if you can vent for a moment, tell them what's going on, and get a second opinion from someone who isn't besties with the person who's making you anxious or weird-feeling. If something sounds wrong or weird to you whether its subject or just tone, please trust yourself. Stay safe kiddos, nothing and nobody in this community or online is worth sacrificing your safety. (Edit for clarity's sake: I am Not saying that it is impossible for some of the aforementioned small age gaps to have a healthy mutually-respectful relationship. However, it is still important to recognize that people like Sagutoyas exist; people who seek out less experienced company because they know they can get away with things with younger peers that they can't with people their age or older. She wasn't some 35 year old creep, she was barely in her 20s, and she still behaved in manipulative and even predatory ways toward her victim because she knew that as long as it was kept quiet, the teen wouldn't say anything about it. The point of this comment isn't to scare anyone, and I'm not saying you should isolate yourselves completely to avoid this kind of thing; just be aware that not everyone has your best interests at heart, and even younger adults can take advantage of teens like this, even if you're not legally a minor anymore. Know your boundaries, trust your instincts, and expect others to treat you respectfully. Keep yourselves safe out there.)

@@humanbeeing4780 Never said they couldn't. This isn't about autonomy. It's about abuse and social dynamics. Being a legal adult doesn't mean that a 25 year old wouldn't Easily have power over someone that much less mature than them, and no regular 25 year old would have any interest in a romantic relationship with a 19 year old. Like I said, it's hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it. But the way high-school seniors see high-school freshmen or middle schoolers is just like how someone in their mid to late 20s sees someone in their early 20s even, let alone younger. My point still stands; even if the law says you're an adult, it is VERY easy for even seemingly small age gaps to be a problem at this age since teens/young adults brains and lives develop literally That quickly. Be freaking careful, none of us are invincible and nobody thinks straight when they're being manipulated, whether you can drink yet or not.

Totally agree, the Warriors community is very young on average so I know most don't know this personally. But I remember back when I started college (18-19), the idea of dating anyone still in high school (typically 18 or younger) was unthinkable. Even though the number difference was miniscule, there's a huge maturity difference since our brains do a lot of developing at that time. Even now, having graduated college a few years ago, pursuing a relationship with anyone still in college would feel equally unthinkable even though there wouldn't """technically"""" be anything wrong with it legally speaking ("technically" is in HEAVY quotes there). Knowing there are people in this community who are old enough to know better and still don't see a problem with pursuing minors is really troubling, though I don't blame anyone who's younger for not understanding just how big of a difference a few years can make when it comes to emotional maturity and power dynamics.

I'm so angry and heartbroken over the victims in this situation. I was groomed as a kid multiple times from people I lived with, as an adult since then, I've found way too many of those once comfort creators turning out to be the same as the monsters who hurt me growing up. The worst one was Cryaotic for me, because during the worst of it, I went to him for comfort. Warriors WAS my comfort as a kid too, so I can only imagine how some kids feel when they finally get to talk to an idol and it turns out they are only being used for romantic and sexual desires of an adult they are supposed to trust. It's so disheartening and frustrating that people are doing this still. I've been there, it ruins your perspective on trust and tears you apart. I'm just so tired of it, why can't people just stay into people their own age? Every time this stuff happens, there's an uproar for a little while, but then it isn't long until somebody else is revealed again. It's genuinely heartbreaking to know that a lot of the victims of this stuff look up to these people and feel like their worth is only out of the selfishness of their peers. It's not even an understatement either, people like to just think "well if it were ME I wouldn't let it get to me I would just do this or do that" but it isn't the case. As a minor your brain isn't developed, you trust and lean on people for support. To this day, and mind you I'm turning 25 in March, I still cannot talk to people in real life, I cannot look people in the eyes, I am terrified of people. That was thanks to the monsters who hurt me in real life and online as a kid, who taught me that unless I am beneficial to them in some way, I am in danger. I hope to god that the victims here have support groups outside of this mess, I really really do.

Thanks for this video, it really fills me with hope to see such a strong movement to keep the community safe for the kids and teens that own it. I have been in the same position as the victims in the past and I can confirm, in the past the community was full of groomed kids and irresponsible adults taking advantage of them, I had to private so much of my early warriors content for having proof of the abuse I went through in it that deeply triggers me, yet sometimes I still see people in this fandom acting like the things I and some kids and teens go through to this day are completely normal and don't need intervention, sometimes I see people giving the incentive for it. It's so so painful to see and I'm genuinely scared of speaking out sometimes because I have been harassed in the past for speaking out against these things in the community :[ but maybe I won't have to keep quiet for long anymore. Again, thank you, and may every victim heal and everyone shutting them down never be allowed near children's media and their spaces again.

I never even knew this happened in the warriors community before I am a grooming victim, and I’m open to talking about it as I’m very lucky that it didn’t hurt me as much as it’s hurt others, and the least I can do is share my experiences so others are less likely to fall into the same or similar situations. I was given all the advice needed, but it was ages ago. I was uncomfortable, but I didn’t leave. I knew what was happening, and I didn’t tell an adult. I wasn’t isolated, but there was a third person who was somewhat in on it. It hurts seeing this happen to kids. I was 17. I will never get justice for what happened to me. As a DM of a Warriors RP, I have one major thing to say. (Note: DM = Dungeon Master, this is a DnD term, but more broadly means the owner of an RP) DMs, it is our job to ensure that our roleplays are safe spaces. If someone comes forward or someone seems to be going through something difficult, I want you to talk to them. Be kind. Allow them to open up to you, and do not betray that trust. Help them, in any way that you can. Most importantly, report predators and other monstrous folk to discord directly. We cannot sit by and say, "That's not my problem". Even if it's not your RP, you have an obligation to ensure that the young people within our community are cared for and protected. If you would know of something like this happening and simply let it be, then you do not deserve to call yourself a DM. Lastly- if you are a minor in the RP community and you feel like you are in a bad spot, please talk to one of us. Any DM will do. If you come across a jerky DM then I do apologize, but 99% of us will bend any predators out of existence if we catch one whiff of them. Yes, even if you have never joined one of our roleplays, even if it is completely and utterly out of nowhere and random, we will try to help you. If you are a minor and you are DMing, then you've got a rough road ahead of you. Find your fellow adult DMs and ask them for help if you need it- the same as above applies. We were all young DMs once.

While it should never be on the child to protect themselves, I think it's so important to still spread awareness and talk about ways for them to be able to protect themselves from dangerous people online if they have to. No matter now pretty their art is, smooth their animations may be, or how popular or famous someone might be online, that does not mean that they should be able to get away with causing any pain to a child. If you are a child being groomed by an adult and see any of the signs, please tell an adult, a moderator, and block the individual in question.

So thank you, stay safe out there everyone and always be vigilant when it comes to your own safety.💛

I feel like all these creators ending up as pedos and grooming minors is a sign for a lot of kids (like me) to beware of the internet. I was like, ten when I first got discord. I joined so many discord servers of my favorite animators. I thought I was super mature, so I’d be able to easily navigate everything. I am so damn lucky I never got into a situation like this. The worst thing that happened to be was just server mods getting frustrated with my dumbassery lol.

Yeah as great as Discord is for organization from a map host perspective, that kind of direct, often relatively private communication really has its downsides, especially for younger members of the community. Not that Discord is the only platform that has direct messages of course, but just that it's so commonly used in the warriors map community

When ordering warrior cat books the thing that always catches my eyes is the amount of comments that says children like reading the books and going on animations. I want more children to see this and stay safe. One time I saw that 9-8 year olds also like to watch the animations! I’m not saying they can’t enjoy the animations but I’m saying that surely if they watch the animations they could be a pedo’s victim. I think as soon as children go online no matter what they are watching they need to be warned about all of these things. When I was a kid they didn’t even tell me about how you shouldn’t keep a password and always use it! I found out 2 years ago (not gonna say my age) when I called my dad to fix my comp cause it was hacked. But that’s not the point the point is that we should be learnt about this. I don’t have anymore to say really expect the fact that maybe even kids might be animating and that’s another chance for pedos. Years ago I had a kid in my class and this happened to him. He liked the fact that this one can gave so much support to the fact that he gave his address. That’s when things got serious. I don’t want to say more because it might be out of their comfort zone plus I don’t know them anymore so yeah. Sorry for the long comment I couldn’t help it

Im very confused about this, so a 20 to 21 year old dating a 17 year old considered a pedo? I heard such things varies through each state. However, I do think grooming can happen at any young age and it sounds very wrong and manipulative. Though it is confusing because when I think of a pedophile there attracted to like kids who are 15 or under. Anyways I would like to know about it as it's very confusing to me as everyone has different views. There's even been incidents that 18 year olds date a 17 year old but are not considered pedo, probably because it's only a 1 age difference.

In the UK the age of consent is 16, however adults and minors aren't allowed to do that kind of sexual stuff, but it's perfectly fine for that relationship to be normal over here as long as there's no sexual intent from the adult until the minor is an adult, I myself, wouldn't call a 20 eyar old dating a 17 pedophilia cause like, shit I'm 17. I also see pedos as people who are attracted to kids below 15, the internet has just watered down the word pedo so much that it means literary nothing anymore imo

Call it what you want, but there is no doubt that Sally was engaging in predatory behavior with a minor. A 4-5 year age gap might not be bad at all if both parties were older adults, but when both are that young there is a large imbalance in the emotional maturity of each person, making any relationship inherently toxic. Additionally, and this has not been proven yet, but it is very possible there was a power imbalance between Sally and the victim. Sally was a very prominent figure in the Warriors community and held a lot of power. If this was a relationship in which the victim was a fan then that would also make it inherently toxic due to the power imbalance. I hope this can help you! Stay safe

Ah that makes sense, it is pretty sussy that she didn't make the victim confess there relationship. Sounds like predatory behavior, and yeah I can see different age has different emotional maturity. I never thought of it that way that they could be using there power imbalance to there advantage. I just was confused why people call it pedophile behavior but yeah technically at 17 they are not a full adult but are still a teen. Sally is an adult and sounds like they know what there doing. I do think someone being a pedophile or a predator are very two different terms though. Consequently, predatory behavior is also very unacceptable and I hope the victim heals well from it. I've actually myself been a victim before of a predator on the internet. Very sad how people take the internet way to far with these kinds of things.

Technically no. 17/18-20/21 is considered late adolescence so 17 and 20 or 21 would be in the same developmental stage however it can be predatory because 17 is still in high school and 21 is an age in which people are getting ready to leave adolescence and college. Neither are children nor fully adult, but they are in very different places in their journeys to adulthood which makes it easier for the 20/21 year old to manipulate the younger person.

Ok I need to know a few things before I make a judgement here: How old was the victim exactly when they met and how old was Sally Aside from an age gap, what evidence is there that this was grooming? Were there any signs of a power imbalence or any kind of manipulation at all? What has the actual victim said about this issue? Sorry, I've seen way too many innocent people be accused of grooming all over an age gap (often times a legal one) with nothing else to back it up.

As someone who has experienced sexual abuse both as a child and as an adult, it really upsets me to see people trivializing the meaning of abuse like this. Sagutoyas and the alleged "victim" were only three years apart in age. A 17 year old and a 20 year old carrying on an online 'relationship' is at worst, an exercise in poor judgment. This is not grooming, it's not predatory behavior and it is certainly NOT abuse. She probably didn't want anyone to know about it because she knows how drama-thirsty this community is and that there would be plenty of opportunistic people out there eager to exploit the situation for views. This fan community in particular has a thirst for drama and frequently makes a mountain out of a molehill and this is a perfect example of blowing things way out of proportion. You would be hard pressed to find a court in either Sweden or the U.S. that would be willing to prosecute a 20 year old for dating a 17 year old online. That's only a three year difference. Sally was barely past her teenage years herself. They're practically the same age in the eyes of anyone over the age of 30. The point is, NO ONE besides a community of drama-thirsty teens would credibly label this situation as "child grooming". Please, out of respect for real victims everywhere and to preserve the power of the term so that we can catch the real predators, STOP calling things abuse when they are so clearly not. The problem with applying serious labels like "child grooming" and "predatory behavior" to trivial situations where they don't actually apply is that it creates a cultural environment in which it becomes easier to say "oh who knows if he's an actual predator, people will call anyone that for the smallest reason" and then the real predators are able to evade detection more easily. Ever heard the boy who cried wolf story? Same message. So please, please, out of respect for real survivors everywhere, please stop calling trivial teen drama like this 'abuse' or 'child grooming' or whatever other serious term you're willing to throw about in order to make a salacious video. This is not grooming and it's not abuse. Please show more respect for actual survivors.

Finally someone showing some common sense. People are really blowing this out of proportions, considering the limited scope of the reproaches and also the little amount of definite evidence that are being presented. Concerning the accusation of sending nsfw content, please note that for the moment i'm not considering Sagutoyas as guilty or innocent, i'm waiting for more information and evidences from both parties and will not form an opinion until then (other than i think it's better to wait before unreasonably jumping to conclusions). As for the other stuff that are being denounced as horrible and gross, such as the age gap... this is what we call an exageration. We are talking about an age gap of merely 4-5 years, and about a relationship between an old teen and a very young adult : 2 people who are both on the threshold of adulthood, and who are supposed to be considered mature enough to conduct their relationship as they intend to. Even though i can understand the worries behind the whole nsfw content thing, we can see a lot of over-reactions too as always with these types of drama. Let's let the drama and heated reactions cool down for a bit, so that we can analyze more coldly and reasonably the evidence at hand, once more proofs and materials have been gathered.
