The questioner is perhaps confusing what traders do with what Warren and Charlie do - these are as different as bowling balls and kangaroos. The latter will decide on buying a business (or portions of it via shares) based on their assessment of 10-50 years future earnings. The trader is looking to enter a business on a hunch that it is priced at a value that will go up for some reason (a liquor store’s weekend receipts in a city whose team has just won the Super Bowl) and EXIT this company at a value which they believe is its peak performance. Two entirely different creatures - Warren and Charlie are looking for marriage and the trader is looking to feel good for a very quick moment.
