    Fun fact, the blade spindles are actually not greaseable despite having zirk fittings, the bearings inside the spindles actually contain SEALED bearings, so you actually gotta take them apart and pop the inner side of the bearing seal off to grease will actually touch the bearing

    Use " Green Slime Tire Sealant " , Use Tire plugs like You have ( keeps the dirt out of the hole ) . got to give a " Twist " Two to Three Turns to make a Knot on the Inside of the Tire , before you pull the plug install tool out .

    Powerwashing a deck is a good way to force water and contaminants past the bearing seals... use an air compressor / blow gun instead... every rusty / rotten deere deck out there was either stored outside (horrible) or power-sprayed regularly (can be almost as bad)... particularly the shitty Tennessee-made decks

    Just a bit of advice, break loose the filter to make sure it will come off then hand tighten again. Take a punch an put a hole in the filter so it drains in the pan and not on your frame. Saves clean up and helps prevent sludge build up.

    There is a common misconception when airing up tires. The "max psi" stamped on a tire doesn't mean that it's the correct psi you need...it's only what it says, the "max psi" that can be used. The correct psi needed varies depending on what the tire is on. (The tire manufacturer doesn't know if the tire will be on something that weighs 50 lbs or 500 lbs.) An easy test is to wet a spot of concrete and drive thru it. If the track going out of the wet spot is less than full width it's over inflated.

    PS to my former post (I ran out of space). The former tip from me was a general rule of thumb technique for tires with "square" sidewall/tread areas. For more "rounded" sidewall/tread areas you obviously wouldn't try to get the full tread width in the ground (since part of the tread is actually on the sidewall). And when I say "full tread width" I mean the "majority". Meaning....you don't want your tire to be running (leaving a track) on just a small percentage of the width of the tread.

    Careful washing the deck. A friend of mine deck washed his JD after mowing a few times, then went out to mow one day and heard a loud BANG! accompanied with a hard thud feeling under his feet. The bearings under the deck are water resistant, not waterproof. The washing allowed too much grease to leak from the deck causing the failure. Ritchie told him that washing the deck would void his warranty, even though the fittings and hose connector are included with the machine!

  • @StanWilhite
    @StanWilhite12 жыл бұрын

    You should always check the "manual for machine that the tire is on" for proper air pressure. The tire manufacturer has no idea what the tire will be used on so all they can do is give you "maximum tire pressure". For instance, I have a large ZTR and the proper psi for the rear tires is 8 lbs....but....the maz psi printed on the tire is 32 lbs. If you inflate to that it rides like a log wagon and only runs on the center of the tread.

    PSS I own a commercial zero turn mower that operates nicely at 6-9 psi on all 4. This provides a much, much softer ride than if I aired them up to the max (stated on the tire) of 28 psi.

    17 hp kawasaki looks a lot like a kohler though. that one has the proprietary star bldes on them with the cheap ass craftsman spindles on them. looks like she ran it really low on oil. i never use the goop the plugs are usually good enough by themselves.when you put those plugs in there you are supposed to twist them around a few times before you pull the "fork" out so that it hels form a knott and plugs the hole better

    When check oil level on that Kawasaki you not suppose to screw the cap down. You just touch the cap to threads on the dip stick tube, there isn't a lot of oil in that sump. and the amount of oil that came out of it wasn't much. You said that been 2 years since last service, I have 25hp Kawasaki and it takes almost 2 quarts of multiple grade oil. I don't care for the small oil filter that Kawasaki uses. I really enjoy your video's great work very time consuming.
