An item that actually messes up a quest line is the scroll you give to ansbach. If you give it to him before talking to freyja and getting the letter from ansbach for her in the specimen storehouse he disappears and you can no longer advance freyjas quest. This happened to me and I was pissed because you find the scroll before you find freyja. Wait to give him the scroll until after you’ve talked to freyja in shadow keep and delivered to her the letter from ansbach or ur just screwed.

There is still one more opportunity to get the Letter if you still have Leda's quest. Her second request involves Ansbach. If you assist her and defeat Ansbach through the summon sign that appears at his location in Shadow Keep, the letter will be there on return. You also get some talismans if you assist Leda both times.

I thankfully save scummed before burning the tree 😂 but I do feel that pain! I had a similar situation with the Milicent quest line 😅

You can then head to a Tower and talk to a puppet to get the Jolan and Anna summon as a duo summon, the tower on the right before the Metyr church, though you need to jump down to it from the area above it

I got the summons because i saw a video of jolan and anna reducing rellana's health bar to a quarter. Then i finally began to use the paired summons on other bosses and felt real dissapointed and saw that the performance wasnt consistent. Realized later that i shouldve gotten sword of night instead.

A commenter pointed out that if you have morgott’s shackle you can use it there instead of shattering the rocks. I tried it and it worked which was a relief because I was being stalked by a wickerman with no way out.😂

Yep, both Morgott's and Mohg's Shackles work for activating any environmental objects that work when you hit them, and because they're designed to be used in boss arenas, they have a massive area of effect both horizontally and vertically. I've seen them turn off two of the pillars in one cast before, and I accidentally broke a labyrinth puzzle where you kill all the giant blender chariots when you hit a pillar because I used it somewhere above the pillar and it activated it. They also work on invisible walls, so you can hit them occasionally as you go through an area and check every wall in a room at once.

You can use then in different places as well. From Queelign and also the Swordhand of Night Jolan . The occultation ones give you the weapons and the other gives you an ash summon. So theres actuallt two people you can use the iris's on.

This was interesting to see what I missed. But if people just want the Katana they can skip a large portion of all these steps, go for an eye of occultation and be done without facing any ulcerated tree spirits or bosses except for the invaders and main boss at the end during the church sequence.

I'm so annoyed. I did this whole quest without even realizing there was a second person in the room, talking to them, or doing all the iris things. All I got was the outfit and the mothering staff.

If you go out of your way to shoot the swimming tree spirit twice while the place is flooded, it will swim out to a place I couldn't see, then when I hit the switch to lower the water, I guess it was above the giant fall as it died and I got the iris without a fight

Got Iris of Grace for the secret area. I haven't used my current stock of either Iris at this point and my side quests are up to date prior to the Messmer fight. Just for the record. I wonder what the condition is. :/

Only thing i wish i knew when doing fire knight quest was you can get another eye on inoculation or whatever. Didn't get his weapon and just got the ash of war and i do have the sword of night which i used it for that quest.

I don’t know what happened but I got the second eye of occultation randomly while in the church district and the second ulcerated tree spirit isn’t spawning, so I think it died somehow.

When I first saw the UTS beneath the water, I dropped a hefty lightning pot on it and moved on. When I got to the rafters after the fire knight I received a bunch of runes and the second one never spawned after draining the water.

I ended up getting the summon wish I would have gotten the weapon I hear it's sweet.

Hmm, I think I might of went too far and screwed up this quest? I have made it all the way to the final boss, but haven't fought him yet. I swear I had more irises in my inventory before I got there. Also, when I tried to get the Iris of Occultation location #1 at 5:14, nothing dropped. I might have beat him earlier and maybe his iris disappeared while progressing to the last boss.

Guys. Please help. I consumed 1 occultation by accident and used the other on the other nonsense. But for the 3rd one which I still haven’t killed the tree spirit . He doesn’t spawn for me

Lol followed this guide got my first Iris of occulation in Fort of Reprimand. And Also my first Iris of Grace in Shadow Keep. But once I used the grace of Curch district entrance and was gonna take the lift on the left. I heard something die and got my 2nd Iris of Occulation for free :P? Did not need to kill anything for it :D

I haven't done either mission fully yet but I snagged 2 black Iris' and 1 of grace.

sorry this is going to be a long comment in my first playthrough I accidentally consumed the iris of occultation and found out it was tied together to get the sword I found out there was a way to get another one while going up to hit that lever to drain the water there's that ulcerated tree spirit that jumps into the water after the water was drained I wound up dying to something before killing the one under the ground in that circular area when I respond at the grace I automatically got the iris of occultation not sure if that's a bug or what not but if anybody has accidentally consumed theirs that they got in that castle after killing the Oni this is another way that I found I guess maybe it could have been a bug I'm not sure cuz it was kind of strange but hopefully this help somebody

Darn, I missed that door and I can't get the invasion or if I did it I don’t have the talisman. Ah well, that’s what ng+ is for. Kept watching, goals achieved!

I was also split recording that

I killed the sunflower boss and when I went to the gravesite to fight the second tree spirt I received the iris of occultation and no fight.

I´ve gave the Iris of occultation to Jolin and the Iris of Grace to the other guy. Then I found this room and looted the Iris of Grace at that Statue. That means, I have to enter NG+ unfortunately

Learned this the hard way

I didn’t know what the Iris grace was so I ate it

I dunno how to explain it but i got a weird glitch or something I got 2 eyes of occultation. I grabbed the first one from the omen killer part way through the ymir questline. And the used it on you know who. And then I went to the church district. Died somehow. Respawned and boom. Another eye

You can also technically use them as rune arc replacements

So, weird thing happened. After draining the waters from the Church District, I kinda didn't feel like dealing with the tree spirits so I left and did other stuff for a while, mostly exploring the map and trying to find more Scadutree Fragments. Once I ran out of things to do, I decided to go back and take care of them. So I fast travel to the Church District Entrance and _immediately_ get an Iris of Occultation. I go down and kill the tree spirit that gives you the sorcery, but the other one isn't there. It's just gone. I have no idea how this happened. Maybe it clipped out of the map and died somehow, but I don't think I got any runes.

You don’t ruin anything. It’s designed the way it is to have you do multiple playthroughs. Do your thing through your game. Have difficulty. Have fun. Have reward.

@PhillyBeatzGames probably pure strength because it's the only build I have yet to do a full playthrough. Normally, I do faith/dex. Or int/dex or dex/arcane. But this time I'm going big unga bunga dual great hammers or the newer black hammers but I'll have to see when I make a new character for a full new playthrough because I'm on journey +2 when I started the dlc and it's rough. I'm doing a fresh character this time

Very good and comprehensive guide, but for the love of Ranni please either use the lantern, or even better, equip a torch and hold it raised if you are not fighting, 80% of this video is so dark, still a quality video though.

I accidentally used the shaow iris before meeting the knight. You can find another one by continuing the story and draining water for the shadow keep area and fighting a erdtree dragon thing to receive it

​@PhillyBeatzGames I think it gives you the one you don't have in your inventory. I went through the church district first and only had the dark iris, which I gave to prayer room npc. Picked up the 2nd dark iris from the ulcerated tree sprit. I missed the first iris of grace and only had a dark iris. When i collected the item infront of the statue I got the grace iris.

There’s 2 iris’s each so it’s not end of world. Unless you get summons instead of katana lol

Got excited when I saw Queelign’s Greatsword but turns out it’s a spear 😞

I got an iris of grace at thr church at the end. I have 2 of each. Well, had 2 of occultation. Used it for blade of night.

Um....oops. Well, I guess I'll have to try this in the next playthrough. lol

Just give iris of occultation to both. Even if you care about spirit ashes, they are all trash compared to mimic and tiche
