🇩🇪 WARNEMÜNDE | GERMANY | 4K | A walking tour in the village center
Warnemünde is a seaside resort located in the Hanseatic Town of Rostock.
It was founded in 1200 as a fishing village. Due to its strategic location at the mouth of the river Unterwarnow, Rostock bought it in 1323 to control the entrance from the Baltic Sea into the Unterwarnow.
In the middle of the 19th century, it became a famous seaside resort, and the small fishermen's house gave room to some big hotels.
Nowadays it's a perfect day trip from Berlin. It's a 3 hours train ride. Due to the 9€ ticket, it was well-visited in the summer of 2022.

It's an amazing place for a day trip from Berlin in the summer :)
I know Warnemünde, but i went in winter of 2019/2020, is very nice. In the summer is better.

In the summer it's definitely more suitable for tourism. The water temperature goes beyond the 25°C.

The front street (Am Strom) used to look like this, as well. Wealthier fishermen used to live on the front street (Am Strom), but their houses were demolished in the middle of the 19th century to make room for the tourism industry.
You can no longer catch the train to Rostock. Its been worked on since August 2022. You have to go to Schwann trainstation and then catch a bus that comes irregularly to Rostock. It can be a long trip here.

Thanks for the comment and for the information sharing. Are you sure of it? I just simulated the journey on DB App there is still a direct connection from Berlin to Rostock with regional trains.

@@twinwalks some trains are still running but those that go past Schwann will take the bus from there to Rostock

Leider DB hat viele ostdeutsche Orte abgehängt. Oder solche Unterkünfte buchen die Shuttle Service anbieten

OMG wo ist denn meine Wilma ? In Boltenhagen habe ich sie nicht gefunden. Vielleich gibt es da KLEIN Wismar ?
