Looks great. I’m putting this in my reference file.
Ironically I'm currently planning a trip to Grasslands National Park which does not have trees actually, at least not at most of the trailheads
Definitely going to incorporate these stretches into my warmup. I day hike and neither my pack (camera gear) or myself are ultralight. LOL
I really liked the 3d muscles being highlighted for this video, it was really helpful.
I lead guided hikes and had terrible tightness in my calves on my last hike and someone on a hiking forum recommended this video, I did these before a guided hike this morning and I felt much better than I had; calves felt fine, hips didn't hurt, these really really helped me out
Love this! My body feels so much better when I warm up before a hike. Great video!!
I just want to thank you very much for all these videos. I have a "knee" issue creeping up on me a little (I'm 55) and I found that stretching my legs almost always alleviates that, whether it's my hamstring, quads or lower leg. I'm confident that my knee is not the real problem although I'm having it checked out just to be sure. I also do self-myofascial massage on a foam roller and other methods, as well as follow some of your videos. Strengthening all of these areas is key and is helping a lot. Thank you for making me and others aware of all of this. I also did phys therapy for tendinitis in my elbow and the PTs confirm what you are saying. Thanks again!!!

Foam rolling is the best, sir. I agree

I have had knee issues and am older than you. Strengthening the muscles got rid of most of it.
I’m a newbie hiker (only 5 miles today) but this warmup made it feel incredible and I didn’t have nearly the same amount of strain on my lower back/hips. I’m overweight, though, so hopefully as I increase my distance I’ll also feel better.
Going to try it today for a little day hike. Remembering stuff like this a mnemonic works well for me. 🌿
Try this before your next hike and get back to me with a comment ;)

Everybody this works, do it.
Love this. Short and easy to follow. Just in time for my 40km hike tomorrow love ❤. Thank you!
Pretty much what i do for mobility warm up before training my legs and hips 😊 thanks brother!
This is excellent. I'm definitely doing this next time I'm headed out.
This is a great warmup! Especially first thing in the day before a morning walk, the body sensation then as the muscles warmup is amazing !
I can’t believe I’ve never thought about warming up before walking and hiking! I’m trying this now, hopefully will help me with overall stability and less pain after!
Hello Chase. Thank you so much. I just started your Elements 101. Wow. It's a banger and challenging. I will need to do 3-5 rounds before moving on to elements 102. Thank you, legend.
Another great video
This make so much sense but I haven't seen a single hiking video on this. I do several of the exact same dynamic stretches for running, but never thought to do them for hikes. Key is that they're dynamic not static.
As a former varsity long-distance runner at the university level I have been around long enough to have done some of these, and those that I hadn’t done before I understand why they’d work. Thanks!
Great. I will pull up the video next time I hike. Just what I need.
I had an issue with calf strains about ten years ago and ever since then I've done a pre-hike routine which includes massage of the calves plus several exercises which loosen the calves.... and the hips especially. I do a core strength routine twice a week which has helped a lot.
I have just finished the Nijmeegse 4Daagse (a 4 day hiking/waling event in which you walk 50km a day, in the Netherlands so it is mostly flat haha), and this warming up together with some of your stretch video's definitely helped out a lot! thanks!
If I ever in my life see anyone do this routine before walking a long day with a backpack - I will buy you a cake. 😊
I'm doing this at the gym tonight, I don't do near enough warmups. TIA
About to embark on 475 mile hike. This is useful.

are those good for biking as well ?
Are those Xero shoes. What do you think? I have the terra flex and wear them for day hikes, but have been hesitant to use barefoot shoes when carrying a heavier pack

@@ChaseMountainss the sole more flexible, than those from your old VivoBarefoot? Because I tested the VivoBarefoot and found it to hard and not really flexible (at least for me). Thx for the good video.
what do you do if there’s only cactus to lean on?

Great warm-up exercises, I will try them on my backpacking trip in about 2 weeks.
Never think to do this before a hike, but I use most of these moves before I run. Looks like you switched to the Xeros in this one. How do you like them compared to Vivo? I had Vivos, but they got destroyed in 2 months of wearing them and I've been using Xeros for the past 6 months now. From what I remember the Vivos felt a little more well built and sturdy, but the Xeros feel softer and more flexible.
Is the Xero Mesa better for trail running than other barefoot brands?
When you say “tuck the pelvis” do you mean an anterior tilt or a posterior tilt?

You let the engine in your car warm up before you drive so why wouldn't you stretch your legs and body before starting out on a hike. It just makes sense to stretch and warm your muscles up to help with movement and get the blood flowing before you set out not to mention it can also help prevent pulling a muscle and ending your day early in pain. It makes things so much easier when you are warmed up and ready to go specially if you're heading straight into a steep incline or decline at the start of your hike. Nothing worse than feeling that muscle tightness early in your hike as you then tend to compensate for that muscle and cause injury to other muscles as a result of overuse. I don't necessarily do all the stretches that you've gone through but always stretch the main muscles in my legs because I've experienced the joy of shin splints in the past.

With modern cars you don't need to warm up the engine. I agree about the stretching part tho 😉
This looks really good, thank you as ever! I always warm up in some way, but not this systematically (not to say this is complicated). Oh, is this the present shoe you've fallen in love with? ;~) Looks like Xero?
Jesus your calf's are bigger than my quads
