Warm Springs Fire -- Air Tanker Fire Retardant Drop - Dubois, Wyoming
A wildfire on Monday, August 22, threatened the Upper Little Warm Springs Creek Subdivision near Dubois, Wyoming. This video was taken from our property on Sugarfoot Trail. The Dubois Vol. Fire department, National Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Fremont Co. Firefighters responded to the fire. Air Tankers from Rapid City, South Dakota and Pocatello, Idaho joined in the firefighting, dropping fire retardant to stop the fire. It was a neat thing to watch! Thanks so much to all those who helped in getting the fire under control and saving the subdivision! Not a single home was lost!

Oh my goodness........what a scare.....here we are putting up hurricane shutters, and preparing for Irene to come in over us at Caswell Beach, and watching this video. How close a call.....so, so, so, very thankful no one was hurt, and no property was damaged. Laurie, you are brave to be up there watching and photographing the fire! Would like to hear more about the fire in other areas.....hope everyone is safe. Will give you a call soon! Thanks so much, Fred. Max and Vicki
Right on, Sister! It was the neatest thing to watch. Especially seen all homes were saved! We felt we were all in dire straights for a while there, but the firefighters reined supreme!
Great footage! You did real good.
Thanks!
Yup the little planes are called guide planes the guide the pm-3 or in this case pm-2 planes that drop the fire retardant and they dont drop it right on the fire they drop it in front of the fire so it doesnt spread.. the fire thats burning north of gillette right now they are doing that too its neat to see
the small planes actually have an oil burning system that injects oil into the exhaust to mark the drop zone other than that you are correct.
cool video!!
da you think? one of thoes planes that drop retardant ? Think the was john dropping. T-10 P2V-5 Neptune
This first airplane is the old but reliable P-2 Neptune from many years ago as a sub hunter back then.
little planes drop water to mark where they want the retardent dropped keep in mind retardent does not put out the fire it used to allow crews on the ground more time to make surpression efforts
that plane is called if i remember a p2v! i fill those over the summer!
I loved the video. It's great to see another female liking the things I do.
