Push back on it. For my sins, I have stumbled into the music reaction/deconstruction KZread rabbit hole (Rick Beato, The Charismatic Voice, Geebz etc) and takedowns and strikes are rife there and it’s all basically fair use. From their videos on the subject it seems that if you put the effort in then this can normally be reversed, if only because companies automate this sorta thing and don’t have the time to argue about it: they just throw them out knowing most of them will stick. That people are too scared to fight. Also I wonder what the story would be here for people who do have arrangements with James like you used too: are they getting these things?

As I'm a painter and not a player since years (I went to the upper levels, playing RPG, not wargames ;-) ), I was only interested in the animation. Recently, various styles and approaches on the Net and KZread in particular were awesome. Due to the launch of W+, many shows or videos were cancelled or deleted. And so I was curious and was waiting the new arrival of GW animation videos. With the free trial, I discovered the first episode, and sorry, it was below any normal standarts (story weird, characters simplified, poor animation -not really animation, no real tension). Compared to a SODAZ normal video, wow, what a shame. Compared to a ultra funny and witty TTS, what a bummer. As for painting, well, much more artists and painters on the Internet are more interesting than the offical ones. I even prefer you guys of Midwinter Minis to the officla GW channel (funnier, cosier and much more honest), not to speak about the others (Trovarion, Nijon, Marco, Squidmar, Miniac...). The issue with thinking that people just want rules is that you forget why people get into the hobby in the first place. Plainly speaking, I know of no one who got into the hobby because of the rules or because they wanted to win every tournament, and I doubt this is the case for you Guy. In comes the lore, the fluff, the 50-90% of the army book (codex or battletome) that gets bashed for being around. The story of the setting, the characters and the horrifying monstrosities come to life through the lore. This is what makes people stay. Not the rules. Not the plastic. The stories.

I don't think pointing out the fact that all of the materials from a Warhammer+ subscription are split across multiple platforms is a 'nitpick' as you mentioned. That's honestly my biggest takeaway here. I'd be okay if, in charging Disney+ prices, they provided Disney+ type original content. They don't need to release "Avengers" level stuff, but at least charge for something more than a fan animation.
I get the feeling that Games Workshop are becoming (or are) like the Google of the miniature war gaming hobby, in the sense that they do what they want, whether something was popular or not they will go ahead or remove it because they want to. Personally I find the old painting charts very useful, the one with the Space Marine backpack painted up using either layers or drybrush, just so quick and easy to get some paint on there without having to think about it too much, but they were replaced by the painting app which is finicky and relies on having a screen to look at rather than just a few printed pages. It sounds like Warhammer+ will be the same - content will change, things that people use might be removed at any time, and I think that's the wrong way to go about such a service. If it had micro transactions for additional things such as access to the entire back catalogue of White Dwarf issues in crisp high definition with a print option, that would be good and might even entice me in, but being at the whim of the current management as to what they want me to see? Nah.
Dude, we need more segments of you playing a sith lord. You nailed it!

I haven't spoken to him recently but I know he's on the "protective" side when it comes to credits. I didn't know how he feels about GW removing all credits (they use to give them) but I doubt he'll be happy (unless they're paying him loads!).

Not only do I have my own pile of shame my Dad just found some boxes of napoleonic troops in the allotment shed, so now I'm having to work through his pile of shame too - one of them is from 1989, it's almost as old as me!!

it might just be me who noticed this but guy had some black substence in his eye my guess is that he filmed the cake bit first then recorded the rest and he must not have been able to remove all the makeup from his eyes
Don't worry guy, I chose the orruk boss as well. We can be orky together ❤

Fun to hear your opinions. Glad they didn't steal your music. I havent subscribed yet because I'll wait until Louise's series is all finished its first season so to speak and rhen binge them all in a month.
Great video, really enjoyed it. Honestly might try out plus just to see what its all about. I didn't know about that archive section. Looks rad!
Who doesn't provide credits? That is so odd.
The blood angels show has already made it worth it for me !! I fricken love it
Thanks for talking about Louise , what an amazing painter ! Cheers
Im dooing it! Im painting! Do not rush me! Love the content as always!
Also would 100% back a Louise Sugden mini-painting Patreon without even stopping long enough to breathe.
I think the reason they don't do credits anymore is due to the old SM codex and Matt Ward, he got death threats and IIRC he quit writing about 40k for a few years due to harassment and even today his name alone brings up a lot of vitriol. While credits are nice, and I'd love to know who did what at the end of the day if it means that people get harassed and death threats due to them? I'd rather they were skipped like they do now.

Thank you, I was looking for a comment that mentioned Mat Ward. Otherwise I would have written it myself xD And don't forget that some publications were "credited" to Mat Ward by the community even though hasn't written them.
You are absolutely right about IP law not being fit for purpose. This is a point that should be brought up and discussed more often.
I genuinely LOL'ed at the Space Hulk intro bit
i decided to opt in, took me half an hour and a reedit search to get on. some of the stuff is good, blood angels stuff is good, painting videos so far are great totally agree with you there mate. still need to give the bat reps a go :)

Can you tell me when you sub, how do you access all the "plus" content as I did a search in Play store and nothing is coming up for "Warhammer+", just the 40k app and WH-TV app. So I'm thinking it's a webpage not an app?

@@murraysminis9390 it's the fact they constantly refer to "The App" oh well I took the plunge for a year, just haven't had the opportunity to check it out. Downloaded WH-TV on the Fire Stick so I can watch content on the big screen 😁
I appreciate your calm and balanced look at Warhammer+, but I'm not convinced. The cons far outweigh the pros for me. Commissar Gamza is absolutely correct that they're desperate to get people to buy it despite it being fairly redundant considering everything they're offering with it can be supplied better by the fans. I would have said models are an exception but that ain't true anymore, innit?
I know it's a different business model and different sized company, but it's worth mentioning that Wyrd Games (makers of Malifaux et al) provide pretty much all of this for free, all of the rules for every model they've made in Malifaux, right there in the app, free. Audio-book quality lore podcasts, free. Actual real PDFs of the rules and cards, free. In depth painting tutorials, free. Of course this is at a lower volume, and for fewer games with smaller fan bases, but it's interesting to see that some companies view content as an advert for their game, and others see it as a product to sell.
The "Original Space Hulk Intro" made me almost fall of my chair and catch my breath. Perfection. I dont know if your eyes look like that because of the dark side clip or because of the Midwinter Twinnies, but it made the snippet so much better!!!!!!!!

I feel personally called out by your last comment. :( But I agree with everything you said about WH+: animation is meh, gameplay and painting is great, vault is okay but lacks features. But most of all… no full screen!!

Just double click the video.
I was so impressed when I saw Louise being interviewed by GW where she discussed both her art in various game rule books, then she showed off her Snakebite army, it looks incredible, truly 💜
Hey, there's some red and blue plastic in there too! And some yellow... and green... I think a few black... a tannish one I'm still building...
An honest review would have included a comparison to other streaming services. There is only so much a family can afford. Seriously. Compare the price to a years sub of Disney+ that will be launching full feature movies with equally (some would say better!) geeky sci-fi material. Book of Boba and Kenobi coming soon. It really makes Warhammer+ an overpriced service that´ll will unsupported for years, if going by how utterly bad GW handled the first year of the App,which is still ridden with bugs that GW refuses to fix.

This really is an important point, with the amount of streaming Services that already exists almost everyone I know is atleast subscribed to one or two. I won't increase my monthly streaming budget by a third for a hobby that mostly happens "offline" for me. No offense to anyone who wants to have it of course.

In the grim darkness of the future, there is only wonderfully sententious voice-over.
Very fine linework on that corpsepaint. Good to see you backing up those Black Metal claims.
Do you know if the copyright claim was launched by KZread's automated services or was it done manually by GW? Somewhat changes the morality of the issue.
GW doing shady shit? Nah that couldn't ever happen..
Honestly, for me, the only thing I was looking forward to from Warhammer + was the Exodite, and more Astartes....so..I still don't even know if it's worth it..for me, at least.
I took the Orruk model too, I already have an Orruk army, so I'll get use of him
For me, i dont care about the painting since i think i paint to a high standard already. I dont fancy battle reports most of the time. I dont care about the vault. Only thing i want is animations and there arnt enough
I think the reason for not giving credit comes from people like Matt Ward, who obviously had problems with their codex, but not giving credit in animation is worrying, it's not just one person it's an entire group effort
@VulpesScabiosa
2 жыл бұрын
Neither were those codices a one man project, it was just the practice for GW to print the lead designer in a prominent spot. A not very well thought out practice to be sure, a team effort should always be credited as such as is the standard in virtually EVERY other industry
@VulpesScabiosa
2 жыл бұрын
@@noblegalifreyan4551 In the codices they are giving NO credit whatsoever (not even for translations in other languages, which, having worked as a translator, is a big NO-NO). I am astounded that so many people are willing to glance over that but are even surprised with the animations. It's not acceptable in either area. What does the credit for "the team" say then?
I would personally hate to go digital or only have special edition physical codexes. Having a book is just a lot less “sluggish”, i guess? At least to me anyway

Personally I really enjoy it, admittedly the fact I could waste hours just looking at the vault helps (if Marvel did something similar I'd give them all my money lol). I get the animation isn't for everyone, but I like the styles (especially Angels), plus as an avid reader a whole episode in a library is right up my alley

thanks for the info . i was highly unlikely to subscribe anyway , but finding out how little content there is that i'd be interested in makes the decision super easy .
Guy. I dont know if you’ll read this but I found the piece of music that GW have taken the “chime” sound that plays when the sliding Warhammer logo plays at the start of every GW video. It is the first and last note of the piece titled Century from Really Slow Motion. I wonder if they licensed or ripped it?
