Enjoying the chill painting vibes. I'm working on synthwave Necrons, coming together nicely! Excited to see the new Sylvaneth Kurnoth Bug guy painted in a video :)
if you want the bark to look flaky, you can put a cracking texture paint on the surface before you prime
Could paint the big beetle rider as the most dreaded of seasons.... Tax season
Other than pinning you could reinforce the sword with epoxy putty like green stuff or miliput

listened to this while priming Mortarion. Maybe add some brighter foliage to your bases for your summer/spring guys, the same bases having snow and dense coverage for your autumn ones?
Are you leaving most of your paint when you drybrush, or is it that your brush is still a bit wet?
The problem you are having with yellow being so thin out of the pot is simply citadel design. Even outside of the breakdown between layer and base paints etc, each individual paint has been thinned to different amounts ontop of having inconsistent pigment density. It's sadly one of the biggest downsides of their paints. It's designed like that for a reason to be more intuitive to newer painters (I believe), but it does have the downside of being less versatile as you could always thin the paint down, but thickening it up is a not really something you can do. Love the Sylvaneth scheme though, I do like the idea of having them represent different seasons and letting that identify each of the units. Big fan of the sylvaneth models, would love to do some up after back log is more cleared up, and the finances allow it.
