    I did buy a starter set in 9th edition. but it was the 10th edition that i really dived into the rules. in my opinion 10th edition rules are very pleasant to understand. So a great moment for new players to jump in the hobby of warhammer.

    I have to agree - the “simplified not simple” motto GW went for was a success on the most part. And having them actively balancing the game is a great thing to making it more enjoyable all round.

    I have recently returned to the game, I last played in 5th or 6th edition (whichever the last without a psychic phase was). Unfortunately I got rid of all my models at the time too, so I'm starting fresh. I've gone with Thousand Sons, as I've always found them cool, and they have some really nice plastic models now. I just wish it were easier to get the mutalith vortex beast. So far I've played one game over TTS, which was really enjoyable.

    Great video I was hoping you’d touch on base sizes; I have the dark vengeance starter but never got around to it. Now I’ve returned and gone heavy on 10th and would like to bring that set up to speed but; if you don’t have a 3d printer I’m not sure how you update the bases to the legal size

  • @Merrexz

    @Merrexz

    3 ай бұрын

    There are a lot of items available through ebay, Etsy, etc - for example MDF bases of the proper size, or base rings that you glue around smaller bases to increase their size.

  • @TheCommandPhase

    @TheCommandPhase

    3 ай бұрын

    Sorry I didn’t cover that, but its is a great point and something that has been changed a reasonable amount of time throughout the years. So my best bet would be to do 1 of 2 things. First of all you can get base extenders online from a variety of places which just slip on to make them the correct size. The other option is to purchase some new bases - plenty of stores do them cheap, including the likes of eBay if needed so you don’t need to print your own. Sadly this would mean doing a bit of hobby DIY to get the models off the current base and put onto the new ones. The games workshop website does have details on their store of what bases size they currently are/equivalent model. Else I believe there is a Warhammer Instructions subreddit which contains a large number of instruction books as pdfs that you can check to see what is being used. Hopefully that is some help to you!

    @@TheCommandPhase what's a good way to get your abilities sorted so they're remembered and used?

  • @TheCommandPhase

    @TheCommandPhase

    3 ай бұрын

    By abilities are we talking character ones - such as buffs for leading a group, auras and such? A lot of the time it's just practice and the more you use them, you'll start to remember what each do. I know I've played games where I've forgotten rules. Something I've found useful is having the datacards in front of me and a crib sheet of my units and what they have in bullet points I can refer to. Whether it's remembering a Lethal Hits buff, to making sure I remember an enhancement (as I've forgotten that a few times!) Getting the most out of character buffs for example is mainly just looking at the datasheets and the units the character can join and seeing which would gain the biggst benefit for that. Whether that's a offensive buff like getting [LETHAL HITS] for example or a defensive buff like an Invulnverable save or [FEEL NO PAIN] and what you need the unit to do on the battlefield. Pretty sure I go into this in more detail in the improve your army list video which may explain it better. Hopefully either of those answers your question.

    I hate their new policy with codexes and indexes. Not being able to peek at indexes or rules for my opponents army is such a step backwards. They think people are going to buy the codex for every army to view rules when batrlescribe exists? What a disappointment.

    Sooo confusing. I’m too old now I guess. Get something for free, but then have to pay for something else, so the free thing works. Buy a book, but its free, but its a card, no wait its a data sheet. No hang on, it all out of date, get something digital. Do it again three or four times a year.

    I’d love for all of the Warhammer rules to be free all the time as it would make the barrier to entry so much easier for new players. Plus they make more than enough from model sales to cover it. And honestly they’d probably make more with people being able to look at different army rules whenever they wanted to!

    I mean, it is not that deep. Use free indexes in the app until you get a codex, then use the code to stay updated. It is only complicated if you make it complicated. I guess if you are old school or physically only, I can see it as annoying.
