How could He have not foreseen the madness to come when it was He who made it happen? Or did He even care, so long as we spilt the blood that He needed spilled to expand His realm? If you desire to cast fault for the path that the XII Legion embarked upon, the true blame could be placed nowhere other than at the Throne of Terra, at His feet." -Khârn the Betrayer

We aren't meant for the world that is coming, the new world that will rise from the ashes. Guilliman made Warrior statesmen not bureaucrats. Bureaucrats don't kick xeno ass they get eaten. People tend to Mistake Ultramar's Society as roman(Probably because of all the nomenclature they themselves used) But in fact it's more closer to Colonialist europe. When generals where also governors in the colonies they've established.

Angron's story is, in my not so humble opinion, one of the saddest parts of the whole setting. He never stood even the slightest chance, and even after they destroyed his mind he did what he could to save his "family". That scene in his primarch book where all the slaves are curled around him touching him because of his power to take away their pain kills me.

Imagine if instead of pulling him off planet and leaving the rest to die, the 12th legion descended to the planet, bolters blazing, and Angron fought alongside his father, turning the tide and gaining a corps of veteran warriors, some of which would undoubtedly be able to become astartes. Instead of a depressed, suicidal, angry and lost son of the emperor, Angron could have found a new purpose and been unwaveringly loyal to the emperor, even if the butcher's nails couldn't be removed.

So not only did the Emperor expect and encourage Angron to betray and abandon his men to save his own hide, but was actually surprised when he didn't, even after observing him lead and fight alongside these men for some time. And even though the Emperor and whatever Custodes and Astartes forces he had with him aboard his ship could have mopped the floor with the army attacking Angron's force, he decided to abduct Angron instead, knowing full well the psychological effect this would have on him. Wow... I'm kind of inclined to say the Emperor had it coming.

Doing so is simple enough, just as one can trust fire to burn. In this regard, our Legion is the foremost of all in trustworthiness. Because across the length and breadth of this galaxy, no matter where you might find him, you can trust that a World Eater is doing but one of two things: he is either making war, or he is readying himself to do so." To me Angron is one of my favorite primarchs, just because he is the personification of what is wrong with the emperor and the empire. I still read the story about his "return" as a flaw in the emperors ways: He left the human factor out his considerations and made the return of one of his generals a pure logical exercise. To me Agron cared, as much as he was capable of, despite the butchers nails for the slaves fighting alongside him. By not only not helping the rebellion, but forcing Angron away the emperor showed, in my eyes, to Angron, that the nice talk about a futur for humanity was nothing but a nice talk, for the very person who talked did not care at all about humans. How can the greater picture be what is promised, if the preacher of this bright future already fails on such a small scale? I strongly credit the whole story around Angrons fall to the rotting corpse on a failing throne.

The World-Eater's used to be one of my favorites until I read the primarch book by Ian St Martin. That book was really bad and actually I think hurt the overall image of The World-Eater's lore. There were several things that were done in that book that were just written poorly and the ideas behind it sucked. I would have much rather heard a origin story about him in the gladiatorial pits making comrades and building alliances with the other gladiators.

I find it funny how many people shit on Angron, for being captured, enslaved and not being able to unite his world. Yet there are similarities between him and Russ, this might be old or unreliable narrator style lore but iirc Russ was captured during or shortly after a raid he staged with some fenrisian wolves, I can't rememeber if they were a pack of proper apex predator wolves or if they were some lesser breed, but I'd be surprised if even a lesser breed pack would be a pushover, yet they were killed and Russ captured by men armed with axes or spears, whereas Angron managed to kill a group of probable eldar. Then I think the human leader could have killed Russ there and then, but decided to adopt him or whatever people tend to do with primarchs, but it seems that Russ' life in that moment could have been ended on a whim. Then as for uniting the planet.. I don't think Russ ever really bothered with that? So I guess he never failed. That's not completely uncommon, other primarchs have allowed feuding between tribes on their homeworlds to encourage competition. But space wolves seem to take the non hands on approach to the next level, where fenrisians have stories of mythical sky warriors that are sometimes glimpsed, usually to spirit away a warrior deemed worthy to fight with the "gods" But ultimately Angron is a broken primarch, I do like how in the heresy there are glimpses of what he could have been (between bouts of pain from the nails)

@@abelbabel8484 that does not make any sense. when he simply thought angron to be a lost cause, why not just leave him there? he took him and gave him a legion of spacemarines instead, so he wanted him to lead his legion nonetheless. and when he wanted him to lead a legion it would have been wise to get his loyalty first by helping him out instead of planting hatred towards the emperor in him. i even go so far to say that angron never would have gone traitor in the heresy when big e would have fought along side him there.

@@Shawaeon that makes no sense; angron was pissed off enough to begin with. i think how the emperor handled this situation was one of his biggest mistakes. had he commited a substancial force here or even fought alongside angron hiimself, angron would have been fiercly loyal to the emperor later. that would have changed the complete horus heresy. horus only started it because he was sure that angron was on his side due to his friendship with lorgar, the only primarch other than horus who seemed to care about him

I normally like these vids as I like heqring the origins of the primarchs, but this one didn't do angron justice, as other creators that did a similar vid. You didnt get into the details of why he rebelled on the world he was found on and he didn't have the nails put in as soon as he was caught. And you didn't tell how it was kharn that got angron to accept his role as leader of his legion, which I feel is very important to his story. It shows his human side, and that he wasn't just a bloodthirster in a human-ish form.
