Ok this is sweet!

So Warhammer lore is beyond bloated. It's too the point where 1 faction like the Ultramarines who you're playing as has a whole culture based around them. For example, our character is over 4 hundred years old, he's primaris, and he's a member of the 2nd company. You can get all of that from his armor and his service studs in his head. But if you want the basic view of the story, Tyranids have invaded a few planets. This is bad as they tend to eat every organism on a planet down to the smallest micro and leave it a barren rock when they are done. They also attack in the trillions, so the Ultramarines and Cadian troops of the Astra Militarum (basic space soldiers from [insert planet here]) are there to stop that from happening. If you want an overview of the world, again that's like a book to get through and understand it but I think this quote sums up Warhammer 40,000 well, " -To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.” This is a universe where there is no quarter given and people die in the billions daily just so their species can slow their inevitable decay into extinction just a little longer. Like 0:42 that was a firing squad for people that probably froze when the millions of space bugs were running at them, and for such displays of cowardness they deserve only a dishonorable death. You're a solider, you're going to spend your 18 hour life expectancy by either by being killed by the enemy or being killed by your friends. Either way that ticket is getting punch. Or you live somehow and get to do it tomorrow and the next day until your too old to fight and maybe you'll get a nice retirement. Although I can't really tell you because I only heard of 2 people living that long.
