Old warframe really shows how they wanted to make a much grittier game from the start by the audio design. It's certainly gotten sleaker, softer and cleaner over the many years

Probably because their previous game, Dark Sector, is much more grittier in terms of gameplay than current warframe.

Even though they are place holders its almost as if it makes sense. Like these guys started off as these normal grineer then over time became what they are today. Like Hek or Regor.

@@Drakrylos Warframe, as of now, is trash in my opinion. They've removed all of the fun/competitive elements of it. Now it's just a buggy mess of a grinding simulator. Game had so much potential though. This is what happens when the dev team prioritizes "cute pets" and "fashionframe" and collectibles over actual gameplay.

The only thing "competitive" about it is the abandoned shitfest that is Conclave. And yeah, it has its bugs, a lot of games do. But I'm not gonna call the narrative behind the latest quests shit.

I don't think Phorid needs a change, it's kind of like an alpha infested, so it suits that look.

This brings back so many memories. Old star chart, old placeholder bosses, mag being able to use crush to smash J3 Golem's legs so he couldn't move, and when abilities were mods not just built into a warframe... Damn, has it really been only three years?

My biggest complaint is not having the old voice lines as an option. Like "combat formation bravo". Or "leave my mother out of this". However, guaranteed BP boss drops... So nice

Violet Dirge raptor is forgettable. Only reason I remember ambulas is because he is that pitiful. Ambulas should be getting a rework soon along with the hyenas.

Youve marked me twice for jackal and nef anyo and u havent come after me for either yet so im marked twice over.

This was the good old days when they basically reused the old Dark Sector demo assets. You could tell they had something special going on. And then they turned Vay Hek into a fucking turkey. This game has only gotten better.

I love how the old space mom sounds like something you'd hear in a N64 game 😅

Yea my reaction aswell. I just started two months ago, and have completed the Star chart.

I miss the old Lotus in-game transmissions. They felt more realistic, like you're on a super serious mission. Now I feel like someone is just talking in the background while I do the objective.

I like how old Ambulas is just the world's angriest MOA

Interesting how some bosses remain unchanged, for the most part. Krill: harder to kill and in a different location but otherwise the same. Jackel: unchanged for a long time. Anyo: just renamed the sergeant. Phorid: still just a scaled-up charger but at least with the infested it makes more sense.

Watching this, really makes me wonder, I took a huuuge gamble on sticking with this game and getting founders. Also I miss the old grineer talks. Also THOSE PURPLE DROP ORBS.

When warframe powers used to drop as mods and you needed to farm then to get the others. Ahh man... nostalgia

I really miss the old transmission voice filters. I wish we still had that 'radio' feel when Lotus talks to us.

Lmao I like how the Ambulaus before is just a Black Moa while the one we have now is buffed version of it.

Obviously the change in visuals is pretty noticeable but the biggest sign of change was the evolution of the sound design, from dark gritty enemies to yelling obscenities in the midst of a firefight. It's really cool how the lotus has changed over time, from a picture that glows to a 3d model with much better voice acting from Rebecca. It's really neat to see how the vision for the game expanded into what it is today. Also somewhere in the game files the baton is still used just not on enemies.

so this was warframe years ago, I just recently started playing, and I've gotta say, I love the old gun sounds better. especially the gorgon sound, it actually sounded like a 50 Cal or gatling gun.

I like how The Sergeant (Nef Anyo is now a character, but the boss is still the same with different name), Lech Kril and Phorid are the only ones that haven't changed. I remember the old Vay Hek, the 2nd stage Tyl Regor (not shown in this video), old Jackal of course, old Kela and old Ambulas. This video is from before I started Warframe since I came in at the end of 2013 on ps4 and they released the Nekros and Valkyr update after this because the Alad V and Lephantis boss fight are not here yet.

Seeing Tyl Regor, Vay Hek, Nef Anyo, as just... Normal guys, it's so weird xd

Weird to think how bosses just looked like generic footsoldoers at one point. Lech Kril and Kela De Thaym are the only grineer bosses who still resemble their modern designs.

You know for all the shit we give bosses, they have come along way. I mean, look at Phorid- wait....

Gosh it's been so long I've almost forgotten about all these old sound effects. The radio effect on Lotus comms just tickles my ears.

they basically made almost every boss from EZ to kill as much as the regular units to something that makes you want to ragequit (talking about the first time i fought vay hek, regor, sargas ruk and kela)

Wow, what a trip down memory lane, and it hasn't really been all that long. Though, I do miss the old Vor et al when they spoke in Grineer to us, as if we weren't even worth translating to. It gave a better setting, to me at least.

When Phorid used to be the hardest boss

Lotus sounds much better here. I'm not talking about sound quality, I'm talking about voice acting and she sounds more seriously engaged in mission and doesn't feel too lifeless at the same time.

Sergent Anyo, Phorid, and Lech Kril are still the same after all this time.

I miss the old sounds and atmosphere. I love Warframe in its current incarnation, but part of me will always love its old charm.

All the people in the comments talking about how nostalgic this video is but they were all commented 2 years after the video. It has now been nearly 6 years than most of these comments :)

Another nostalgia. Most of these bosses were pretty generic but a lot of them still needs some kind of reworks. New bosses could be added long ago and the few which not changed a lot could have been changed like Segeant, Phorid. Good to know I play the game that timeline too.

Tyl regor officially creeps me the hell out now lol, the only grineer I've seen that sounds so intelligent AND menacing 😆

Pretty happy to see that Kril's sorta the same. To think that Ambulas was *that* for the longest time until I think it was, Summer 2017? Boy, times have changed.

Nostalgic. Game improved in a lot of ways since then, but some of the awesome old sound effects and gore animations went away over the time.

hmmmm, 10 years have passed already since the first time i have played warframe, with many other games, people have come and gone on the game, friends have gone off the game, others...well, they go off of life, the point is, a decade as passed and this video, brings back really good memories, when i was truly happy. i am 28 now, and life seems way darker today than 10 years ago.

Its just satisfying too look at the fire rate of the secondary weapon

Im pretty sure Lt Lech Kril is the only boss with its own special model

hmmm the old warframe has a different feel to it despite alot of it being the same. i think update 8 had an old filter that made everything look more grim and bleak, kinda liked it.
