Oh hey it’s my main primary weapon! here are some tips for folk: the gun has multiplicative CO, meaning it’s a good idea to run a damage source like Serration on top of Galvanized Aptitude! Shred is utterly useless on the weapon due to Punch Through not doing anything (at least from what I’ve seen when playing) so you’ll want to invest into a mod with higher fire rate (Speed Trigger) Speaking of fire rate, if you have a companion that can reach 1200 shields, go get the Reinforced Bond mod from The Business on Fortuna! It’s a 60% fire rate boost and helps Scourge Prime out a *lot*, although be aware that if your companion dies/goes down, you won’t get the benefit of the mod until they are back!

@@linkrafa8132 my build uses: A damage and multishot riven (can probably be substituted with heavy caliber) Galv Chamber Galv Aptitude Serration (technically banes would be more optimal) Malignant Force Rime Rounds Hammer Shot Vile Acceleration Terminal Velocity in the extra slot iirc I run merciless as my arcane due to the bonus reload speed, and I often throw it and immediately switch into a secondary so deadhead isn’t super useful (although, it does passively boost your secondary headshot multiplier as well)

oh, and be aware that I always use a Hound with Reinforced Bond, so if you want the weapon to be comfy but also don’t want to run it, you gotta probably take out a mod like Hammer Shot for another fire rate mod :P

@@brysonlyons7232 Sometimes I equip the Scourge on my Dante, who is one of the 3 Frames I take to Netracells, and Viral isn't exactly the best element for The Murmur.

I was waiting for you to add viral for 4 status effects. Heat, viral, corrosive, radiation. More damage from Aptitude. As well as increased damage from viral procs.

The good old Heretic staff. I love it soo much cause it reminds me of me when i was 3 years old playing Heretic. I built it for viral, corrosive and heat and made it my main weapon. Thank you for making a vid on it.

It's.... different now, since you actually get a copy to wield while the attractor is active. Before, you'd be reliant on a strong secondary to actually do damage once it was thrown

Pretty similar to my build. I go all in with Viral to scale the DoTs though, since Deadhead and the multiplicative GunCO on direct hits scales them so well. I also have a HM and crit damage build for use with Harrow, specifically. It is his weapon after all. He should be able to use it!

Will DEFINITELY rejigger my Scourge Prime with this setup! I've adored it since it arrived with Harrow Prime and while it's been OKAY, this will probably let me start maining it proper!

Ah my favorite Spear gun, right next to the Tenet Ferrox. I hope one day DE will give us a speargun that's a straight up full Auto gun. Also we need more Arm arm cannons!

​​​@@dominiccolon3465Honestly, should have had both his exalted grimoire AND a staff speargun primary as his signature weapon to use when you're not using the book. Or just more actual grimoire weapons. God, please more grimoires, and not as useless primers or mastery fodder.

Little warning about putting punchthrough on a speargun: the weapon will sometimes (but not always) go through terrain when thrown. This will result in your thrown weapon either going through a wall you wanted to plant it into or become embedded into the ground too deep for the effect of it to be useful due to line of sight requirements

And now we combine this Alt Fire with Hemorrhage Sniper Epitaph for... *reasons* Better yet- Bullet attractor effect combined with a Heavy Attack Quassus.

the mirage deluxe agile animation on this weapon is awesome, I came back to this weapon when dante came out cos a wizard needs his staff and was surprised by just how well it performs I went in just looking for a thematic status primer with some additional utility but found out what you did, that it can deal some solid damage and as someone who likes to play meta adjacent this is one of my new favourites and I feel bad for sleeping on it

I miss when you will automatically swap to secondary on throwing the staff, I wish DE would add an exilus mod that automatically swap to a secondary.

I should preface this and say that I don't like Breach Surge usually, as it tends to be annoying to get for me to work right...that being said Breach Surge works FABULOUSLY with Scourge since your alt-fire garunteeing headshots makes things go brrrrrrrrr. Which is why its my go-to weapon for Wisp.

I had trouble using this with anyone except Harrow. It seemed like it needed his crit buff to be good on its own, or to be paired with the Knell to make the attractor effect worth using as more than a gimmick.

hey yeah, lets get a look at this. Edit: you could also trie it out on Styanaxa, as his passive is doubled for speargun.

Wonder how this works with something like harrow or arcane avenger bumping its crit chance up? You'd only need to slot in some crit damage that way and then you're getting an extra multiplier in there

I love this thing Especially with a Laetum or other incaron secondary (Dual Toxocyst my beloved)

Well, right now the relics for this weapon are vaulted. So, good luck getting it. I'll stick with the normal version for now.

It's actually a good weapon when people realize the difference between physical damage and non-physical damage. Weapons that emit energy/element damage take no buffs from piercing, impact, or slash. They also take no buffs for headshot or crits. The only thing you want on energy based weapons is elemental power and status effect. The more you do that, the more you realize the weapons not mediocre. You just keep slapping the same idea onto different guns. And yes im positive about that. Ive seen guys use plasmor and use impact because the see impact procs, which is intrinsict to shotguns. Just because its there doesnt mean the gun uses impact, it just means youre using a shotgun. Its energy based projectiles so you arent causing any physical damages like impact or slash. That impact you see pop up is just the intrinsic impact. So please stop calling guns crappy when its because you cant build it right due to preconceived notions of which damage types are the best. Maybe instead of clinging to the idea of meta, you just learn the functions of every gun and learn how they work differently. Im sure they wouldnt make an arsenal of weapons using the same damage concepts. That seems stupidly tasking and uncreative.

oh! you should be running viral instead of doubling corrosive. that way you get MASSIVE upfront damage that just melt everything while still keeping decent armor strip chances for anything that isn't dead in 2-3 shots. i personally also use heavy caliber where you're using hellfire.

Don't have emerald shards and still want to have complete armor strip? Use Hydroid. I may try this build out. I wasn't exactly a fan of it when I first used it, so its been in the back of the closet since I first maxed it

I looove running viral corrosive rad and heat, paired with aptitude it feels really beefy

What about a toxin build? Since you have corrosive innately, taking advantage of toxin means you can deal with armor and shields.

Punch through is bugged on the Scourge so it actually doesn't work at all. Better off doing vile acceleration or anything else

i wonder how the infested warfans feel with tennokai since they have a toxic ranged attack on heavy

I have a multishot, toxin, - status duration and i feel like the - status duration is just too big of a minus to run the riven and it makes me so sad

Next challenge is to make a melee weapon with even ips decent with no element mods other then ips ones.

No punch through hurts this bc the explosions hit behind everything and the range is too low.

You think getting the gun part to work is tricky? I am still waiting for the day we can get the spear part to work. Even with more Javlocks to throw around, now that we don't need to go pick them back up, modding for the gun bit is still easier, more effective and I hate it.

I use this with Dante... just because Dante looks weird with a gun.

I really don't understand why you don't like Deadhead more. All you need to do to get dead head rolling is like, 1 single headshot kill vs. all the hoops you have to jump through to get merciless going.

I really want a good speargun.

They moved a bunch of stats into tooltips recently, so I think you should be able to see reload speed if you mouse over the magazine capacity stat.

*First off:* You see a weapon with innate corrosive and somehow don't consider putting viral on. Whatever loss of damage you'd get from not having +120% pure corrosive modded in would be immediately recouped the moment you have the first viral proc immediately doubling your total damage output, not to mention the viral's damage itself or the heat damage. *Second off:* You put _PUNCHTHROUGH_ on an _AoE ON IMPACT_ weapon. That's hurting the build threefold: 1. Scourge's primary fire isn't affected by punchthrough so you're just wasting mod capacity for no benefit; 2. Even if it was affected by punchthrough, the AoE is like half your sources of status effects, why would you want the projectile to go through the enemy; 3. Punchthrough does affect the throw, so now it's capable of going straight through floors or walls that you may have wanted it to latch to. *Third off:* You have have _LOADS OF HEAT_ and are using neither Viral nor Faction to enhance it further, what are you DOING??? You're leaving so much DoT damage on the table! *Fourth off:* Serration on top of Deadhead is redundant. If you were using Merciless, I could imagine you using it for ramp-up and to offset how quickly Merciless decays, but Deadhead has a dang 72 second full decay window, 24 seconds for a single stack's loss. It's baby easy to get one headshot kill within 24 seconds, especially with a weapon that has a headshot magnet. The moment you headshot kill a butcher, you've got what amounts to 4 merciless stacks instantly, for the duration of 6 merciless stacks. *Fifth off:* As others have mentioned, Scourge is one of those multiplicative CO interactions on the direct hit, so it's actually doing significantly more on the direct hit than the stat screen would imply. In the case of 3 status effects (which pathetically easy to achieve with Scourge,) you're getting functionally 5.8x direct hit damage compared to aoe damage.
