Great walk through, thanks for the effort. Liked and subbed. I'm a fan of TAL so I know that crack feeling from an absorbing game experience. I'll be looking into this one for sure.

When you rolled the bullet dice and instead of stopping it the bullet dice rolled back out of the camera view , I laughed like I was watching an episode of Curb your Enthusiasm hahaha so funny

LOL...Yeah. When I first started playing the game I tried using the bullet dice. One actually rolled off my table, down my driveway and into the rain gutter. I immediately grabbed some good old D10's and a D6 and put the bullet dice back in the box!

I really wish DVG would apply numbers to the rule book sections in order to allow for a proper index, for the Warfighter series games and for the Leader series games. I have 9 of them altogether and if I could fix one thing, it would be the organization of the rulebook.

Great overview! My son (17) was really interested in this but I have been on the fence about it. Base game plus expansions is an expensive proposition but I can always start with the base game and see what happens. On another note, I will be purchasing TAL once the money fairy comes and visits my house.

Howdy Jeff:) Agreed, base plus expansions is a bit pricey. You'll get plenty of bullet-spraying, grenade-chucking fun from the base set. Expansions will still be around when said money fairy visits. Enjoy TAL! It's a winner:)

I’m new to the war fighter series and bought the WW2 version. Would you say the mechanics are very similar? I ask because I’m still looking at vids trying to make sense of things. Your vid helps.

Great review! and a big fan of yours, you've helped me purchase this game. Question, foes the expansions come with extra mini soldiers or just the starter ? And hopefully if you purchase "Fleet Commander Nimitz" love to see a review. Thanks buddy

Howdy Jason:) Thank you for the kind words! All three of the expansions come with additional minis and bullet dice. Funny you should bring up FC: Nimitz! It just landed on my doorstep yesterday. It will definitely be my next review:) While unboxing vids aren't my thing...I may actually do one for this.

Excellent play through / review / demo ...I picked up second edition and most of your issues seemed to be addressed ...I also picked up the foot locker which has a much better board and also graphically redesigned. I love DVG games but strangely on the odd occasion their QC seems to slip ...I suspect that's not Dans fault but the printer letting him down. Btw where did you get that stunning dice tower ? Best Ric

Howdy Ric :) Yeah, the new board that comes in the foot locker is much nicer and more practical. The dice tower comes from Dungeonwerks. I review it, and the larger dice tray here on this channel. Just look in the "Gaming Accessories" playlist. Here's a link for Dungeonwerks: dungeonwerksga.com

Thanks so much for the review. I agree that the map is disappointing and I don't see it standing up to repeated plays but I am really looking forward to trying it out this weekend. I donated to CSW, so I got this and the expansions and Dan included FC; Nimitz for free.

Pete Martin Not sure, but I think the Wave #2 expansion due out this year is to include a larger, mounted map.

Hostile deck back graphics are take from computer game named "Arma 2" by Bohemia Interactive Studios. I wonder how legal it is? Did DVG bought those images from BIS, or are those unprotected as part of the computer game? It's not a question to You, SHW, I'm just wondering.

When you are paying to move Samaniego (soldier #3) to the Wetlands , don't you have to add +2 entrance cost because of the Look Out ?

That's right, J. I should have paid 2 more for the Look Out. At 27:17 I pointed that out at the bottom of the screen.

As a longtime fan of DVG, I purchased this game and the expansions as soon as they became available and I love the game, but I have to agree that the overall production quality was quite poor. The thin paper "board" makes it difficult to keep cards in place, and mine made a horrible noise when I first unfolded it, although it was undamaged. My counters were cleanly punched, but there were several rows of counters that had lamination issues, which I did my best to fix with some white glue. I also noticed color registration differences between the different counter sheets. The figurines are a joke, but they are also completely unnecessary, and while the dice are fun to look at, I can't imagine anyone actually using them. And while it is a minor issue, I wish that they had used two different color schemes for the middle east decks to make it easier to visually identify them. DVG has always produced high-quality games (I rate both PLD and TAL as 10/10 for solo wargaming), but I worry that this might be a sign of things to come.

Yeah...not sure what happened here. I think the problem is on the printer's end. The replacement counters I got look just fine, though.

My fear for DVG will be that they become a "Turn the handle, crank out another similar game" company. I looked at the Tiger Leader play videos here on youtube, and I fear that this may be about to happen. Huey Leader may be yet "more of the same". They may turn out to be great games, but they will have to feel VERY different from what's already available in Thunderbolt / Apache, Phantom, and Hornet leaders to make it worthwhile giving up time on the other games.

An understandable concern, Paul, but, there's reason to be optimistic. Partly based on what I've heard from others, and part on my own play of a few of these titles, even games in the same series tend to have a VERY different feel to them (for better or worse;) To have a recognizable thread running through all the games in say, the "Commander" series is to be expected, and welcomed as long as it's implemented properly. Kinda like siblings who are noticeably related, but obviously different people. As far as TL goes, we'll find out soon. I have TWO copies on pre-order (hint-hint)

  • @ggrant1189
    @ggrant11899 жыл бұрын

Your copy of Warfighter is not "an aberration." This game is cheaply made...which would be fine, if it didn't cost $60. I don't know how the devs thought that the bullet dice were a good idea. It turned into "Bowling for Game Pieces." I've played this game, and am really ambivalent. At a much lower price point, I'd feel much happier. However, at $60 or more, I kind of feel like I got a bit ripped off. It's not just you.

That said, I don't denigrate the gameplay itself, at all. Enjoyable gameplay, and I'm looking forward to taking the training wheels off and trying those Mideast missions. LOL!

I wouldn't say the cards & counters are cheaply made. I'm quite impressed with them. The replacement counters I held up in the video are clipped and sorted and look awesome. The bullet dice? Yeah...like I said, an idea that sounded good, but just not very useful. I would've preferred perhaps custom standard dice. Those Middle East missions will go down to the wire every time:) Suggestion: check the prices at NWS ;)

Great review. The game looks fantastic but the components and presentation are another story. I never owned or played any other DVG product so I don't know if this is typical DVG quality. For $60 I expected a bit more production value wise.

  • @SingleHandedWarfare

RayLancer Component quality has never been a deal breaker for me, unless it's so bad it renders a game unplayable. The value for me is in the game itself and whether the system delivers what's promised. As far as Warfighter goes, the cards are AWESOME. Feel I got my money's worth with them, which is a good thing. The cards are really the heart of this game. The bullet dice and plastic men are unnecessary, so didn't really care that they weren't so good.
