“We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today.” - WAR
WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day.

I think the snare drum accidentally goes off the 2 and 4 beat at 3:24, but is quickly corrected. It all adds to part of the charm of this song. I just listened to an episode of Song Exploder about their song Low Rider, and as they created songs out of jams in the studio, it would make sense that their vibe is relaxed and a little mistake here and there is no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future!!!!!

Once in the late 70s, a local radio station spent a day counting down the top 100 songs of the decade. I was 11 or 12 years old, and my pick for top song was Why Can't We Be Friends. Since I was quite young, I took the countdown far more seriously than I would take such a thing now. I figured this song would at least be in the top 10. I listened all day long. Finally, when it got down to number one, I figured this had to be it, since it had not appeared on the list all day. But no. The top song of the 70s was: Feelings. This song was not even in their top 100. It was a real learning experience for me.

I may be a youngster (age 37), but this is a classic song 🎵
WAR belongs in the hall of fame .

This has to be an all time point blank,to the heart playfully done song!Timeless!!!!
Best decade for music! The sound is unbeatable.
People today talk as if the 80's was the greatest, they just weren't around in the 70's which were just as great and a prelude to those great 80's!!!
this song will never get old cuz it's a masterpeice
Vamos Homero tu puedes ❤
I love WAR, thanks to my father. He would play me low rider in his 82 Supra when he would pick me up from the bus stop after school! Good times. I wouldn't know of this band if it wasn't for my dad.
Canción apropiada para estos tiempos oscuros que estamos viviendo. NO QUEREMOS GUERRA. PORQUE NO PODEMOS SER AMIGOS? febrero de 2022 y siempre.

Saw them last night in Immokalee FL...Lonnie is still rocking! Superb

This message is what we need now more than ever in 2021.
Violence and intolerance will never end, but i found another sense by this, that no matter how worse the world is, everyone can live in harmony and love each other unconditionally and vibe for a song together.
