i really don't like WT's business model, it's overly grindy and makes people want to justify buying modifiers/premium vehicles to get more in game currency/research pts. Thus, not fun, every wallet hungry or if you're f2p, you're going to blow too much time. A shame since WT the game itself is fun.

The way I cope with is that I just play as a casual. 6.0 germany rn and I'm having fun as f2p and I think that is what wt should have been, a game focused on all eras of vehicles equally not just focused to advertise top tier bs.

When I look at WarThunder it’s an insane game for what it is. People wonder why there isn’t a game just like it and the reason why is because of how complexed the game currently is. +2000 vehicles, major updates almost every 3 months. To keep that going it has to take a ton of money. Any other way you try to monetize the game I don’t think could keep up with this amount of content. Even though you have $75 premiums now it’s still nice you can catch 365 days of premium on sale each year. Which to me is really all you need to grind. Still it would be nice to have cheaper premiums but the reason they keep going up in price is because of inflation and then people keep paying for them at that price.

Premium time and mabye crews are really all you should probably spend on. Even if a good prem is on sale, 35$ for a mediocre top tier is absurd

How to best spend your money: 1) Set the rule for yourself that you should have fun from the 1st second. 2) In order to have that without too many issues or spending too much. Get 1 year premium at 50% off. THAT alone will give you best bang for buck. Buying a few medallions on strategic vehicles and you are set. What is a "strategic vehicle"? That is a none premium that is in a given point in the tech tree, is meta (very good vehicle in context of combat and user consensus of the best vehicles) and is easier to use and or something you will use often at that grind area. Usually that means a vehicle at the end of ww2 era to grind those, another at the mid tech area and lastly one at the top tier that is the best or something you will use every match. Example of fun: I have the CV9030FIN, pretty much close to what I served on (CV9030N), so I play it even if it kinda sucks. I bring it into top tier even. Play it as a proper IFV and get opportunity kills when I can or guide the team with the drone. No medallion or whatever and I currently only have half a module left, but that was never the goal. I just wanted to play something I thought was fun. That should be your attitude as well. Crew skills: Most kills in this game is not "twitch kills" were you spun the current and gained because you had slightly faster turret horizontal and vertical movement and shot. Most kills are you were aiming in that general direction and shot first or the enemy never saw you. Point is, the only crew stats you really need are loader reload for none auto loaders and gunner ranging for none lase tanks. Everything else is not really that useful and the funny thing is that on the lower end of the tech tree. Buying a silver badge for that vehicle only. Does not cost that much and will instantly give you just as much (3 points in each) as a full bar of universal. Linked with premium at the lower tiers it is actually worth it to get silver crew skill badge on lever end vehicles. That said at top tier, specially jets and G tolerance and stamina or main caliber reload on ships, you should spend gold on one or two slots to boost up the stats because the silver badge there costs a ton.

Well, as someone who has gotten profits from the small golden eagle things in the shop, I can say its only worth it if you have extra to spend (ex: you have 20000 ge and spend 2k on the eagle things would be of good value cause you can get even rank 5 premiums like su11 and others).

I had to preorder the Type 90B just for that decal, And It obviously wont get nerfed since Its just a TT tank made into a premium by just adding a cammo net.

well the thing with spending GE to buy vehicles in the tech tree, it gives me something i want instead of spending hours and hours getting 1 vehicle and i can instead just enjoy playing that said vehicle and then play other games, but thats just me

A talismaned vehicle is always at risk to get lowered in rank while a premium doesnt. With the big change last year i got 7 vehicles degraded from rank III to II.

To add to what the author is saying, just grinding out the vehicles increases one's playing experience with the vehicles they like to play (aircraft, tanks, ships, helos) which in turn tends to boost one's skill level with their chosen vehicles. I've been playing Air AB daily since March 2013 as an old retired guy and I've spaded all aircraft (never buying any mods!) for all nations well into rank 5 jets. I own all US and Swedish researchable aircraft. Playing this way has made me a much better player with my favorite vehicles -- aircraft. And it's allowed me to earn all the SL I needed to purchase those top ranked jets, which cost over 1 million SL a piece just to own. To place them in a crew slot is several hundred thousand more. So, I'm all for the grind -- it can make one a much better player, and becoming a much better player makes the game ten times more fun! Also, I always play with a premium account and always renew during Gaijin's 50% off sale. I play every day because I'm retired, but anyone who thinks they shouldn't get a premium account because they work needs a premium account even more -- it will speed your progress when you do play! I also buy Talismans (they only boost RP) for my most used, favorite aircraft when Gaijin has that 50% off Talisman sale. I do this for spaded and stock aircraft that I know I will use, such as the F-4 Phantoms that have a lot of researchable mods. A Talisman for a stock aircraft will allow you to spade it much faster. There are only certain fighters (the F-4 and F-5 for me) I will buy a Talisman for -- I usually get them for my favorite bombers (USSR Tu-2s, Swedish T18B are examples) and Strike aircraft. My favorite Strike jets have them because I enjoy taking out ground targets and bombing bases the most and I score really well doing so -- I have my technique down, especially for bombers. Anyway, great video! I already do these things. :)

I avoid market as a plague - prices there are insanely greedy and unregulated/unchecked and in the end GJ wins because they get cut from everything. Also ppl have lest and less money to spend since cost of living skyrockets but the prices going to insane levels i bet we will get 100$$ soon.

I had excess cash on me a few months ago and bought M1128 wolfpack. I was 5.3-5.7 back in the day. Since then haven't paid for anything but premium. Now I'm gonna buy the A10 because I like it. Because I have the financial stability to afford it. But I do not have the time to grind to tech tree A10 before end of the year. So paying $60 for that is basically a lifesaver for me. But I completely understand why people complain about stuff.

I think that the only money you should spend on WT, and what I do, is buy premium time during sale. Could be GE or direct premium time.

Here is what I did. Remember the old ebr event? Yeah I bought one of them for 18$ in the market before it blew up, I didn't use any of them kept it for selling when the price went up which happened and I sold the ebr coupon and when the moderna came I also bought it. So with that I got more profit than loss and when moderna went up i sold it like what I did with ebr and same happened with the German tornado, mirage 2k s4, vilkas, obj495, ags, qn5, ect.. Currently I have enough to buy a amx surblinde

I have the same strategy, if I want premium vehicle I wait till the sales events. The only thing I spend a waste of money on is skins, on console.

The only time I spend money is for the premium account (which I think is fairly priced). I only bought one Rank 7 Premium and that was the MiG-23ML which served me really well. Other than that I just play events and sell the vehicles to use the GJN coins instead.

Buying modif is really useful on SOME vehicles, like some f104 variant or the Helis, seriously is it IMPOSSIBLE to even get rp to get the modif when stock

I researched entire US tech tree with only two talismans, one for f104A and other one for f16a

i bought a talisman for the ja37d and i have no regret doing it i got the grippen in like 2/3 hours

Eow...use you ground crew as Helicopter pilots for PvE events...it's an easy cheap way to get Crew points. The other option for the US anyway, is that they become F-5C pilots for a bit.

My friends stopped playing for almost a year, so did I. Then I send them december sales and how premium time was cheap and they all bought in silence and are playing and I missed it. I was planing to stop playing, but after the silver change on premium. I decided to continue playing because it makes a BIG difference. The worst thing about the game is the silver grind and premium now takes that away. Not only that, but you can build super expensive decks (I for example have most of the "banned" Germen tech trees vehicles which has huge rep cost) and just waste it for fun and still more often than not gain silver. You can get stomped in a game, your spawn sorrounded and just spawn in the rest of your deck to get a few more kills and suddenly as huge battle loss, still grants 20k+ silver gain. Because you might have lost, but you still got like 4 to 5 kills while invulnerable against spawn campers.

Slight correction on the cost of premium per day if you buy a year at 50% off. You said rounded up is 9 pennies. My math whiz nerdge kicked it. It’s about 12 pennies rounded up. It’s still really low, but 33 dollars would be about 9 pennies a day.

I only GE modules when it’s at 1 for key modules ammo types or parts kits

If you plan buying modifications with GE atleast buy talisman and then its worth it atleast

I bought a talisman for T26s’ (E5 + E1) and it hasn’t lost many matches idk I’d say just find a good vehicle and try for a few matches, if you want - buy a talisman. I will probably get told to not do this

whenever i buy crewskill i spend it on all usefull skills like loading and targeting

I understand that this monetization system supports the game and enables the game to come out with consistent updates and new content but the game does need an increase of rewards. The rewards are in dire need of improvement, especially in ground vehicles because getting an average of 8k RP per game at top tier to grind several 300k RP vehicles is insane.

Gaijin has no incentive to do so as when someone buys a really expensive marketplace vehicle gaijin gets a massive cut

Every time I have a geniune interest in spending more money on war thunder, my winrate would get a massive dive. I would then rage quit and thought there is no chance I would ever enjoy this game. When I finally move on with my life, the new update would drop something interesting for me and I came back to grind that vehicle. This loop just never ends for the past few years, but the good thing is Gaijin's dogshit matchmaking keeps me away from any unreasonable spending.

Yes you can get some of them for free on the warbond shop sometimes.

Pay to progress , with no prem tank and no prem account it would take 1-3 years to get top tier in ground rb for average player

The wisest financial decision in war thunder u can make, is just not to spend any money and drop wt. As a player with 4k hours and playing since 2015, I can say that Gaijn is a very predatory company. 70-75$ prem are a scam hell no prem even top tier should never be more than 40$. Did not support those premiums, if you buy anything than get premium time and that’s it. It’s ashame no one is talking about the scam of vehicles they sell

im gonna be honest on the 4 dont i think theres some lenience to it. Why? lets put this hypothetical that happens very often you've been grinding a vehicle or a module for quite a while, youre tired yadda yadda yadda and you just want to have that already, after you finish the battle you look at your progress and see that you've been Snail'd as for you to get that vehicle/module thers only 6rp left and so you have the options of trowing a couple of GE's or just go do another 10-20m battle honestly i have the GE im choosing the first option every time

Best way to spend your money is to play any non gaijin/wargaming game and you’ll be set

If you have time you can always grind out the events they are doing and sell the vehicle for gaijin coin.

also don't GE those achievement vehicles, 9/10 times, they sell for half the price of the GE you bought a day after they go up on Marketplace.

It’s not much but it’s still nice you can get paid don’t know many games that even have a system like this. It’s definitely not life changing money but at the same time it can help ccs upgrade PCs or pay for subscriptions to like photoshop for example.

​@@Rempai420when I look at a premium vehicle I also consider what other TT are in the same br to use with it, and also what cas/heli can be used in that line up. Russia 10.0 literally has 3-4 premiums available in 10.0 whereas most other nations only have 1 maybe 2 in each rank.

Videos like these are a part of what's wrong with the community, people who are like 'I been playing the game for 11 years, I feel like I should be an authority on how people spend their money!' People take videos like this as gospel, and will actively pick on, ridicule, and otherwise be toxic to other players who want to do whatever to have fun. Let me give you another bit of information, the longer a game like war thunder runs, the more expensive it becomes, focusing on giving the snail as little of your money is fine, but don't attack those who don't care, because they're the reason you aren't wasting any money - because if the game shuts down, we all wasted money.
