had a smooth run up but the thing that distinguished him was the late swing. See many deliveries how late they swinged. I have not seen many or rather any bowler swing it that late. How he did it was a surprise. That is the reason why the accusations of "bowl tampering" began to surface when Waqar Younis started swinging it so late.

What so many people don't understand is what a fine batting line up England had in the 90's. Alec Stewart, Mike Atherton, Graham Gooch and David Gower is wonderful batsman, and Waqar ran through them like a hot knife through butter. Extreme pace.

@wonderwall S Alec Stewart is one of the finest openers England ever produced. He averages 40 as an opener in bowling friendly conditions. Most Subcontinent openers average the same or in early 40's with the exception of Gavaskar.

It means 20 runs per innings. this is not considered best through any specs. Also why did you compare ones home ground stats with other batsmen away stats?

@wonderwall S you clearly haven't seen many matches that took place in the 90's' nor do you seem to know the role of an opener. Opener is the hardest position to play is often times openers have the lowest averages. That coupled with batting in bowling friendly conditions against the greatest bowlers who ever lived. These were not Indian pitches that give almost no help to fast bowlers. There were finer bowlers who peaked in the 90's than at any point in history.

Wasim and waqar combo was the most devastating in test history. Swing, Genuine pace, quality, even on dead surfaces

He was the greatest of all times if lived with the same vigour without shoulder injury...

Waqar’s magic is also complimented by Richie Benaud ,Geoffrey Boycott, Dickie Bird and David Shepherd. Super classy commentary and umpiring.

I remember watching Waqar and Wasim as a kid and being in absolute awe of the speed and movement.

Wiqi, a real Legend.. One of my favorite attack bowlers.

Ran through such a formidable top order with the new ball and then the typical late swing with the old ball to get rid of Malcolm. Absolutely marvelous bowling !!

A speel to be remembered and a lot to learn for youngsters

Now everyone who has been fortunate enough to have seen this guy in his prime. You will all relate to his genius talent and speed. People talk of the Shoaibs Lees and Stayens. This guy on song was express and absolutely fast back in 92. Even though he already had a stress fracture of his back. To me if they had used speed guns then this demon was clocking 97 98 99 or even 100 mph then

Waqar did tamper with the ball a known fact. He was called a cheat by Mohammed Asif the best new ball bowler Pakistan produced up until now. Waqar used bottle tops used his nails scratching the ball transferring the weight of the ball helping it swing like a boomerang 🪃.

Really deliberately dropped ? 🤣🤣🤣 chutiyaa he suffered 2 stress fractures in his lower back/ he was fortunate enough to recover well but he also lost his pace due to the severity injury/ most players never recover from 1 lower back stress fracture let alone 2 stress fractures!!
