yikes... you should look a little further for a musical genius. charlie is cool but some of this isnt even correct. Like in the biggie song.... those notes arent necessarily in F# (they can fit in a few different keys), he just analyzed it that way and then said they're out of key when in reality the song is all in key... just not the one he analyzed the melody in

Make sense why the fire alarm is so awful sounding. The point is to get you to run from it or do whatever it takes to stop the alarm from going off i.e. put out the fire, take the food that is burning off the stove or out of the oven, etc.

Another example of this is when a synthesiser has multiple “voices” that are detuned (some slightly sharp, some slightly flat) which creates a really nice wide sound, but it’s technically out of tune, similar to how he described people singing out of tune

Funnyly enough, the same goes for birthday choirs. I once invited a friend who is an amazing singer, but all the others were straight up terrible. Surprisingly their voices layered very nicely, while my friends voice just sounded out of place (and way to high), eventhough she was technically singing way better than everyone else.

  • @panfriedegg5048

Genuinely really wholesome stuff! Worth noting that singing with soul involves lots of singing "off key",and off key doesn't mean bad or incorrect. Take Bill Withers Ain't No Sunshine. No serious person could argue that he's a bad singer, or that he's singing his own song incorrectly, but if you listen he's not always on a perfect note, and that's part of the style of music, what gives it impact and soul. Other genres too. Could you really say punk music would somehow be improved if everyone sang in lockstep with a scale? It would rob it of one of its most foundational genre defining features and clash (lol) with the rest of the instrumentation, and not in a desired way. The already existing dissonence is part of the experience. Embrace off-key singing as a feature, not a bug.
