Wanted A New Approach to Funding Treatments for Drug Defying Germs

In this episode of the One World, One Health podcast, Dr. Ursula Theuretzbacher, founder of the Center of Anti-Infective Agents in Vienna, Austria, explains the need to invest in and ensure global access to new antibiotics, vaccines, and diagnostic tests.
Antibiotics were once considered wonder drugs, but now they're becoming less effective because bacteria are getting better at resisting them. Also, very few new antibiotics are being made because drug companies don't see much profit in them.
Dr. Theuretzbacher, helped write one of a series of papers in the Lancet medical journal looking at the problem. She discusses solutions proposed in the series, which can help develop new treatments and support healthcare in countries most affected by antibiotic resistance.
