Same here, man. Powered reel mower is definitely on the list but a top dressing is definitely needed prior for me as well. My lawn will never be exactly level, as I am on a hill. But all of the bumps and divots need to be addressed.

Yeah... You gotta reel mow way more often. You gotta power rake and dethatch so the gound isn't too bumpy. Makes the job easier, but its great exercise. Btw, mine is just a push unpowered and i only just started dethatching. I think the previous owner _never_ dethatched and grew the grass at least six inches between cuts....

Nice! Exactly the same one I was looking at for a while especially for the size of yard just waiting for winter to pick one up for the next season. Just sticking to the manual one for now. And definitely looking forward to the videos with it in use and how you like it good choice and after all the research I'm sure it wont disappoint either.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

That’s awesome!! Still haven’t made the decision to try a reel mower but it’s tempting. Question, what do you put down in the fall to prep for spring? Will spectracide with crab grass preventer work? Thanks for all you do neighbor!

Thanks man. I'll be doing a fall prep video soon. All I'm going to put out is a half rate of fert and the Spectracide pre-emergent. It worked awesome last fall and winter. More details to come. I appreciate ya!

Congrats! I wish I had Bermuda and could reel mow but I don't think it can't survive northern Illinois winters! Maybe one day I hope to reel mow KBG! Can't wait for more content on this mower

That it did. That it did...mad respect. Haha. I'm glad I went that route first. But every 2 days with temps in the mid 90s and double/triple cutting = too hot, too much time, and not very enjoyable. No doubt I'll enjoy the engine. Does the Instagram pic makes more sense now? I made sure to start on the worst side of the lawn in the back to play around with different cutting heights. I knew it was coming, but I'm still not happy about it. 😢Thanks bud!

😂Fertilized 5 days before, watered it good after the first mow. Temps in the mid 80s to 90 with nothing but sun. It'll bounce back fast. Ready for that carpet for sure.

If I recall, it was somewhere around 1600. Much more affordable than a lot of the other units out there if you're wanting new.

Curious how it is for marathon turf in California.

Marathon likes to be cut between 2 and 4 inches if I’m not mistaken. Reel mowing is best suited for shorter cutting heights - inch or less usually. Hope this helps. Appreciate ya watching and the question.

Ive enjoyed watching quite a few youtuber's like yourself whos channels focus on reel mowing and live in typical suburban usa. Your lawns are amazing and beautiful. I always wonder what your direct neighbors think when your lawns make everyone elses lawn on the block look downright bad in comparison. I can't help but think you have neighbors who secretly wish your lawn mysteriously died just so they could stop feeling so inadequate when they head out their front door. 😂

I've heard great things about it. The Earthwise 7 blade manual treated me well so far this season. Those little manual ones are great for the $$$.

Just moved into a new house. Funny you ask as I’m trying to find that out right now. Builder didn’t know what the landscapers use. I hope to have an answer soon. In the end, it really doesn’t make much difference to me. Imma make nice no matter what. Appreciate ya watching and the question.

It's a cleaner cut and looks better, in my opinion. The clean cut can aid in keeping the grass healthier. With all that said, the benefits and purpose really comes down to the homeowner. You can rotary mow and have a nice, beautiful lawn. So you don't have to reel mow to accomplish your goal, unless reel mowing is the goal, of course haha. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Do you think reel mowing makes a dramatic-enough difference in the quality of the lawn to justify the two grand on a new reel mower? Asking because I am interested in reel mowing but don’t want to spend the cash if I can get similar results with a sharp rotary mower.

It really does make a difference compared to a rotary. But, I would recommend getting a manual reel mower to start out if you haven't already. That will at least give you a taste of it to decide if you want to spend the money on a powered one. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Depends on your expectations. Some will tell you that it’s beyond a huge difference. For me, it obviously wasn’t big enough as I sold my power reel mower and have since gone back to rotary mowing and couldn’t be happier. Depends on what you’re looking for.

It's the most affordable one you can find new. You can get it without the Honda and front roller with a Briggs and Stratton engine for just over a grand before taxes and shipping.

My dad had an old skool power reel mower from the 50s, he used it forever, reel mowing isnt really that different than regular cutting with proper lawn care. If youblike the way it looks, go for it..no need to ponder and do a whole analogy on it...just do it..then you will know..

Nah, why would I deprive myself of something I enjoy? I'm a teacher, so I have the time in the summers. Plus, at my new house, I'm working on a lot of natural spaces and flower beds to reduce the amount of turf that will be manicured. That's my PGR. Big lawns of grass are boring in my opinion.

When i was a fourth grader…. The next door neighbor hired me to reel mow her gras…the grass was about 8 inches long and I didnt have the strength to push that old dull reel mower she had since probably the early 1920’s…….i only got a few feet of that grass cut and she ended up having some man come to mow it…..i think i just didnt even say anything just left and walked home which was next door …..she should have known I wasnt able to do that…..perhaps she was trying to get rid of me….maybe i bugged her or something…….augh, i dont know🤦‍♀️🥹🥺🥺🥺 ps…u have a nice clean neat garage!
