Various shots of man looking at used cars, he ponders over one with a deposit of £15. A salesman walks forward and starts to talk to him. Various shots as he shows the car to the prospective buyer. Two men from the British Safety Council walk into the garage and up to the car which is in the process of being sold. Various shots of the group together, the salesman is trying to get rid of the men from the Safety Council. C/U sheet showing things they test in a used car. The man it to the prospective buyer. C/U hand digging muck from the radiator, the man from the Safety Council shows it to the buyer. C/U of the dirty engine. C/U man from the Council scraping screwdriver along the rear wing where a patching job has been done, he makes several holes. C/U showing the screwdriver ripping the metal. C/U as the wheel is spun around, the tyre has a good tread but a large flaw comes into sight. C/U fluid running out of the brake drum. C/U man from the Safety Council checking the big play in a wheel.
C/U of a man driving along the road in his car. C/U as he makes an exclamation. Camera pans with one of his wheels which is rolling along the road and into the bushes. The man looks at his car, the front wheel is missing. M/S of the wheel caught up in the branches of a tree.

    Ernest Marples couldn't be a motorist's friend, but he was trying to not be they're enemey.....unlike the entire railway network.

    I suspect that it's called a "clipped" British accent. In that era, big wigs in the Australian government, business, and upper classes wanted Australia to be a card board cut out of Britain. As a result an Australian couldn't get a job in TV or the radio unless they could speak with a "clipped" British accent.

    @@mnbalfour1985 but in the 1980s& 1990s some Australians worked in British media, tv & radio without having clipped British accent 😄😉
