When he was pointing out what needed doing, he reminded me of my architect husband touring a job site with the building crew. :)
I think that wall above the double vanity in your primary bathroom looks like a giant piece of ART and it's so cool you're keeping it! Maybe put some trim around it about 5-6 inches away from the walls it touches, paint outside the trim the same color as your bathroom, and then it will REALLY look like a piece of art. 😍 So freaking cool.
So happy you saved the peonies. We had them at our house in western New York where I grew up and I loved them. Moved to Texas 40 years ago and they just can't thrive here. Too hot 😪
I hope the peonies bloom. The paint and everything is looking great.

@@Schoolhousehomestead It's true though! Blue light wakes us up, red light doesn't affect our brains the same. I've read online that it's good for kids' nightlights to be red (we use a programmable one -- Hatch). So maybe he's heard about that before!
Little dude has his own punch list on the construction. Love it ! He's adorable!
I am so invested in this family and their school house. I love it all. May God continue to bless you all. 💛🙏🏾
Oh man!!! How cool is this old school house turning out!! That Up primer looks like it covered way better then most typical primers. That will save some time doing final coats. And if Arlo has anything to say about it, he'll be all over making sure no mistakes are made in the process. (How adorable is he, BTW!!) Can't say enough about the respect you show the trades, and how well they have done your project!! Being kind to the trades goes a very long way in getting your project done just the way you envision it as well. Painters look like they're a pretty fun loving group. One thing that can be said about peonies is they aren't easily taken out. They transplant well and seem to do well wherever they land. Plus they like to spread their wings and spread themselves around, so you should have lots of them again in a few years. Thanks for continuing to share this project and showing the updates. It's a lot of work to do all this and keep up with the project too. Strong work all around!!
I just love how you’re leaving that beautiful old piece of plaster as a reminder of what your home used to be, in your bathroom. The doors look amazing and the colours, just beautiful ❤
Cutest construction manager ever!! LOL!!! It IS amazing what a difference drywall and paint make -- one of my favorite transformations. Your construction manager is a man who knows what he wants! So cute and funny! I LOVE when children get to witness things like this -- it makes a lifelong impact on them and the way they feel about the built environment, and I think it's really important to have an appreciation for it, rather than taking every space you enter for granted -- created spaces take work and creativity and having this type of experience solidifies that for them.
I love this woman. The camera loves this woman.
Thanks for using recycled materials!! As always, thanks for taking us along.
Peonies are delicate _looking_ strong flowers. ❤ love that you found them coming back!
Your old school is coming along amazingly into a true home for you n your family. I’m so excited when the time comes to see the paint colors you have chosen for the hallway, your kitchen n ect… I think that’s fantastic that you’re using recycled paint. Oh, how I wish we all would do that. I think it’s a wonderful idea. I noticed how much of appreciation you have for all the people that are doing much of the work. I’m speaking of gentlemen who did the bricks. The guys who are doing painting n your election who will be doing all your pretty lights n all the others you speak so highly of them. You n your husband are so happy n proud to have them n that’s wonderful. Looking forward to seeing more n all the doors hung. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟 🔔
We built our own house. I was wanting to put in a kid’s indoor spiral slide from top story to ground floor but the AC guy said he needed it for return air. Broke my heart. Your kids would love that!
I love that you’re saving a piece of the plastered wall. It’s gorgeous and def a piece of art. You can’t replicate that sort of randomness and age that only comes with time.
This is really cool. Love watching this slowly buy wonderfully all come together
Can't wait to see it finished! Love the new windows.
Those high ceilings are so awesome.
Grass....creeping red fescue....drought resistant and only gets 6 inches tall, and deep green! We used it in 4 of our homes we built, and the lawns still look great years later!! Low maintenance, they don't go dormant in a month like Kentucky blue grass. 👍❤️❤️❤️
I’ve never learned so much about paint until today’s video. You have done a wonderful job you don’t drag it out you come right to the point about the product how it works out why it works. I really am impressed by how you put your videos together.
Love your videos! I live in a small village in SW France. I have wonderful next door neighbors. They are sisters and their house was their father’s house, their childhood home. They are school teachers in Normandy and currently come here for holidays. They are getting new windows! They are not here so they have asked me to keep an eye on the workers.
Thank you for sharing the "Old Schoolhouse Renovation" news. I enjoy all that you share as it increases my knowledge about renovation. Your job there is admirable, sustainable, and becoming beautiful.
I’m absolutely loving this transformation 🥰
Haha! The interview with your son was adorable! I hope he got more to drink - lol. I love how you're strategically keeping some of its original walls and charm. Such a massive project!
Very exciting!! You have made so much progress. I love seeing it come together. Thank you for sharing ❤
All the hard work and dedication is beginning to pay dividends, which helps quell the thoughts of "What the heck were we thinking?" that I'm sure you had on more than one occasion throughout the entire process.
I am impressed with how much you have accomplished since last video. Love the looks of the living room. And your fella is adorable.
I just love everything you are you doing. Love your commitment to sustainability, recycling, upcycling. It’s great to hear right from the experts that the Up paint is great quality. And those doors are fabulous. All the time you spent on them was well worth it. They are beautiful as is the lovely sealed brick! Love it all. I would love to see a floor plan in a future video just to refresh memory on where everything is.

Well you will lots of space for the children to explore and grow into. I am amazed at your tremendous courage in taking on a project like this. You are both doing so well at keeping it together.
The project is going along nicely. The walls are looking great. It's also a plus you got quality recycled paint. You have plenty of reason to be proud of your progress and it will really look especially nice once you get the floors in. Your little boy is so cute and wants a red bedroom. Wonder if he'd like a firetruck painted on his wall instead 🚒. 😊 This is an exciting renovation. Can't wait to see more. Your refinished doors are beautiful. Love old doors that are refinished with all the grain visible. That was a huge accomplishment. ❤
I think it is awesome how you making this school into a home . I always look forward to seeing the progress you've made in each video. I know when it's complete, it will be beautiful.

I always love and look forward to your updates. It's a monumental journey you have graciously decided to share with all of us. Thank You so much.
It is looking so gorgeous already. What a privilege that you are able to restore this beautiful historic building. I do hope your family squeezes every bit of joy and beauty out of it when you can finally settle in. After all this hard work, you certainly deserve it! I have a feeling, when all is said and done, that you will let out the biggest and most satisfying sigh of relief, and then quickly realize how much extra time you have! 😆
I just found your channel. I totally love what you’re doing. That was one of my dreams. The sad thing I sometimes see is people start and run out of funds and the building gets demolished. I’m so excited how beautiful it looks and far you’ve gone. I’m from California and for a few years we lived in Marion county Indianapolis. I loved it but for family reasons we had to come back.😢 I hope to move back someday. Good luck, and god bless your family❤
Wonderful progress, with a diverse amount of information. Inside, outside, and all around!!!!! Blessings!!!

This is so cool to watch come together! I love how you’re keeping a lot of the history along with modern renovations. You’re working so hard to renovate everything WHILE being a mom to young children and it’s inspiring.
I can relate to your thoughts on your journey with your new / old home. I restored the Lyric Theater and its sister building the journey was definitely worth it.
Awesome house! When it's time for you guys to move in, you might want to carry a GPS so you don't get lost in all of those hallways and rooms! Anxious to see the finished product!
Totally understand why you're excited about seeing the primer. Really stunning, like the brick and paint color choice. How much paint will you guys need ? 🤔 Anyway, it's a good thing your son is on board to do the inspection 😅

I absolutely love all of this, the doors, the brick, the idea of making a school a home. The little guy is so adorable ❤!! Thank you so much for sharing your process, so cool and I'm totally jealous!! ❤

I am so excited for your project. This is amazing! Thank you for letting us see this journey! Great job!! 👏♥️😍

I’ve been following for the past two years and the house has come such a long way!!! I’m so excited for you guys! This house is going to be incredible!!
I am absolutely hooked and sold on this project. I have no idea how these good folks are going to be able to afford to heat and cool this monster but i love it.
I'm so glad to learn about the paint
Congrats on all the progress you've made. We bought a 3-room schoolhouse in Ontario that was in decent move-in shape 18 months ago and have been making incremental updates (HVAC, soffits, ramps, etc.). It's an adventure, and we're surrounded by older folks who were once students here, so we understand the desire to honor the past and balance caretaking with owning. Cheers.

💙💙💙Peter! I think exactly like you think and I am just as particular about my calendar books. If you’re looking for another one look for dated and the year versus undated, which is the one you got. 🙂 it’s good though especially for a journal because, if you want to use it for a month and then put it down. Use it for two weeks and then put it down. You can use it without losing any of the pages to time. It’s also kind of cool to look back on if you, do it sporadically versus daily. I have done both. Love ya! 💙💙💙

WARNING! about laying hardwood flooring in the summertime (if that's what you're doing anywhere in your wonderful project). I'm sure you've been told about humidity. And I'm sure you've been reassured by manufacturers and installers that THEIR product is stable because it's triple titanium diamantine deadlock sealed (or some such marketing lingo) so of course it won't shrink once the heating goes on. They'll say that bringing the wood onto the site and letting it aclimate in the setting will work some kind of magic. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM about any of those claims! The planks will shrink. And you will forevermore have gaps and over-large cracks in which dog hair and sand and goobers will lodge. I speak from bitter experience in 2 projects because I'm dumb and didn't learn the lesson in the first site and got flooring laid in June and in August. Woe! Truly - wait until September's first crisp days - or better yet, until you turn the heating on. THEN bring in the product and let it sit a good week. Then lay it. (Flooring guys, if they're honest, will admit this is a good idea - but it leaves them twiddling their thumbs in the summer so it's hard to pry this admission from them.) Good luck. I love seeing what you're doing.
Are you going to bury a time capsule somewhere on the school property? Might be a fun project for the entire family.
Love driving by and seeing the progress
So the story about the repurposed paint reminded me of a friend's experience with "repurposing" some paint from his workplace (30+ years ago). He worked for the Department of Highways and "acquired" some white paint. Used it to paint his front porch. That porch reflected headlights like crazy when you drove into his yard after dark!

Hi, your son is adorable. Even though he wants red on the walls, you may not want to but to make him happy, you can accessorize the room with things that have red colors, red lights he can use when he feels like seeing red walls. If you feel its too much, you could use it sparingly. Just a suggestion since you asked him. Otherwise, if he forgets, you can still use some red with toys?
I’m near reading PA. My kids and now grandkids went/go to a small Christian school that is that exact building, a previous elementary school. My daughter in law is the 4th grade teacher. I love seeing what you’re doing but I’m lost. I just cannot figure out how to get around in yours now it’s so different than it started. Our school has very straight and square walls and hallways. Great work.
There is an embroidery pattern called turkey tracks that you can do in paint form.
