I think it was cause the guy was 18, plus it sounded like the victim was hitting him and he asked him to stop repeatedly before firing. He still caused the situation to happen, but whoever didn't wanna give his backpack and started hitting a guy with a gun on him (the victim) kinda played a part in his own death imo. Then the last guy went out looking for somebody, and shot him premeditated and gets 38 years? And he's much older? That's some dumb shit imo.

If this story had a happy ending, the thief wouldn't be breathing, but it doesn't always work out that way. Plenty of people have been harmed or killed even after complying, so if someone decides to stand on their principals, I don't blame em at all. Thieves and liars are scum of the earth.

Too be fair, the guy who said "too harsh" in chat isn't rexcactly wrong. If we look at empirical data from around the world, you actually see that those countries with the least repeat criminals are the ones that have a more leniant approach, with focus on rehabilitation to sosciety after prison. However, if you look at US law, you'd see that in many states, an act of random violence with a deadly weapon, leading to death of the victim(s), life in prison isn't really a harsh sentence for the crime.

Hey life doesn’t mean until death it means at minimum 15-25 years depending on the state and then you are eligible to apply for parole so realistically the last guy got the harshest sentence since he won’t be eligible for parole at all and will have to serve the full 30 years
