Wanna see a cable jointer struggle with 3cx4mm? This is the video for you!

I had myself a trip to exeter. It's a long way from everything in the world. Got some stuff done and had a laugh doing it, that's what counts in the end.

Good evening, i have been watching your videos. I can't believe the work that you do alone. I know that for my self, i could not handle that by my self. You are like a gently giant, with a sense of humor, Joe Capo.

CK do a nice little armoured scoring tool, not bad for up to 25mm glands, has a small hacksaw style blade in it. not as good as the exhaust cutter, but will do the small cables consistently.

+1 for the pipe slice. Cottoned on to it when we did SWA (and conduit) at college as I knew that no matter how hard I try, that id have a battle to cut/slice so that ends are square for glands and couplers, it now my go-to tool. Need to acquire a (N) decent exhaust cutter, because you never know 😂

Armeg do some hole saws called Aceller8, you can get them from 16-40 I believe and they’re magic for going through boards or trunking, especially if there’s cables inside already and you’re worried about going too far. Saves getting the old bit of wood between your hole and the cables as a safety measure.

I agree... it all looks the part and well thought out apart from the 50mm cable into 75mm trunking lol was that meant to be a 3phase dB position?

Use the electricity analogy, that finds a path of least resistance, would be more fitting than the water analogy.

Nice work bud. I would like to know where these switchgear designers get the ideas for cable access, I always find this task challenging, it doesn't help having French loaves for fingers though more access is available if they put their thinking heads on.

Hi just started watching your videos. But can you please wear glove when your glanding armoured into trunking. Few years ago I was glanding 4c 25mm into 75x75mm trunking on a step ladder. but the inner had to run along trunking to DB about 3mtr in distance. So I gland it off the push end of cable into DB then as I was tucking the excess cable into trunking the cable decided to fall into place rather quickly and took the fingers along with it. The little lip on the trunking is like razer sharp. So my index finger got sliced open big chunk of skin got ripped away. So please wear gloves

I've never understood why UK sites use large multi-core submain cables? It's a heck of a lot easier to install single core cables (ie 150mm2 in either flat or trefoil) rather than a 4 core 150mm2....

I cant get my head around why the Trunking was done like that. It's no wonder they have someone subbed into terminate the big stuff obviously none of the sparks on site have experience with it. It's not a done thing in Ireland to sub in lads for that kinda work either we just do it ourselves, usually theres a couple of lads that are always at the kinda work.
