Just when I thought nothing in Kenya could shock me, shock on me. It is not even the amount that was stolen that shocks me, it is that the heist was not even covered up cleverly. Like just a smash-and-grab job, with evidence being left lying in plain sight, so that a guy with internet can download zip files, save them and present them on "live TV". That's shocking. Wanjigi is very clear in the maths. His emphasis is on the inflated amount of the self raising fund from ksh47.5 billion to ksh 644 billion. According to auditor general report the total contribution from the self raising fund is ksh 644 billion instead of ksh 47.5 billion. Note:47.5billion is 10% of the total SGR cost which is ksh 475 billion.Thats the amount that kenya was to contribute then EXIM bank was to contribute the remainder 90%. So his point is,according to the agreement treasury should have paid ksh 47.5 billion but they paid ksh 644 billion instead The question to govt is why did they pay more and why was the huge extra amount not accounted. Payments were done in installments according to stages of the project so he is referring to the total payments by the end of the project according to the financial statements.

The SGR contracts with China total about 5 billion dollars. An amount that the Trade and Investment Bank could have lent to Kenya in one month like they did in 2019 February according to Jimmy Wanjigi. So why did Kenya need to bortow from China? No wonder Tanzania built their railways without external borrowing. After all Kenya paid more than the Chinese paid for 90 percent of the cost of the SGR. That means we have paid for 2 SGRs. This indeed is a damn crime scene. Warudishe pesa za Wakenya. Pap! Spice FM please bring an accountant to do the calculations simultenously and show the panel to avoid confusion.

To my understanding we owed china about 500 billion KES for the construction of the sgr. Kenya was supposed to raise 10% of that amount around 50 billion KES to kick start the project. The treasury raised 640 billion KES instead..paid the 50 billion KES and the rest of the money disappeared.Basically Kenya didn't have to borrow money from china in the first place since it could finance itself. Also 600 billion was stolen from the treasury while Kenya is still been asked to payback the 500 billion SGR loan. Yani in short Uhuruto stole 600 billion from the treasury in the guise of SGR financing.

Even if we didn't major in Math, we can at least say Jimmy, Okiya O and COB have seen something that needs addressing. It's not even possible for COB to raise her concerns the way she did just for clout. Anyway i keep thinking Kenyans, we think we are immune to economic collapse. Maybe not today but one day with all these matters...one day

Why pick on politicians? Such thefts are facilitated and enabled by public. Let the public/state officers who appended their signatures to these documents be called upon to account.

My biggest worry is our population is 40 million but only 38k have actually viewed this. But at the same time the above 18 year olds are busy on tik tok watching silly things, watch women shake assses. Adults are playing video games. If i was a journalist, i would love to meet every single Mp and ask his/ her view of this. I would also like to hear from the president and raila about it.

@Jimmy, have you taken into account things like commitment fees, drawdown fees and interest? Not to mention perhaps letters of credit costs? All of which would be over/above amount paid to CRBC for goods and services.

If CRBC actually received 644B Kshs + 5B dollars and they 'kept quiet' then they are implicit in this crime ! They were signatories to a contract that required receipt of 5B dollars but they received more than twice that amount and 'kept quiet' !

Important issues raised. Granted. But I think the math is not mathing. 10% of 4.7bn$ is 470mn$, not 47mn$. But since the approx 5bn$ was 90% as claimed, then GOK was supposed to pay 555mn$. I understand the need for accountability, but let's get the figures right as we debate these important issues.
