Nestled within the prehistoric Nakawan Range, the village of Wang Kelian stands as the northernmost human settlement in Peninsular Malaysia.
Here lies the final opportunity to refuel before reaching the Thai border and capture a fleeting image of a picturesque Malaysian kampung, bidding
farewell to "Selamat Pagi" and welcoming "Sawatdee".
However, there is much more to this unassuming village and its environs than what initially meets the eye. Concealed within these ancient limestone hills are a myriad of caves, subterranean streams, indigenous flora and fauna exclusive to Wang Kelian, along with enigmas and enigmatic secrets long obscured by the passage of time. Stretching all the way from the Thai border to the Andaman Sea, the 370 million year old Nakawan Range is the oldest and longest uninterrupted limestone range in Malaysia, measuring 36 km in length. In addition to its impressive geographical features, the range also serves as a natural boundary, acting as a great wall separating Malaysia from Thailand in the north.

Diselubungi dalam dakapan dan kelembutan batu kapur Formasi Setul yang penuh bersejarah, terletak perkampungan Wang Kelian nun paling utara di Semenanjung Malaysia. Di sini merupakan tempat terakhir anda boleh mengisi petrol sebelum tiba ke sempadan Siam. Di sini jugalah merupakan tapak terakhir anda untuk merakam potret penuh memori berlatarbelakangkan kampung yang indah dan permai di Malaysia, sebelum tinta berlabuh daripada "Selamat pagi" ke "Sawatdee".
Namun perkampungan kecil ini dan sekitarnya menyimpan sesuatu yang tidak mampu dilihat oleh mata kasar. Pergunungan batu kapur yang berdiri teguh di seklilingnya memegang erat sekumpulan gua-gua, air terjun bawah tanah, flora dan fauna yang endemik serta unik hanya terdapat di Wang Kelian, menyimpan segenap misteri dan rahsia sepanjang zaman. Banjaran Nakawan yang dibentuk sekitar 370 - 490 juta tahun dahulu adalah pergunungan batu kapur yang berdiri teguh dari sempadan Siam ke Selat Melaka. Banjaran ini merupakan pergunungan batu kapur yang tertua di Malaysia, dan terpanjang dengan jarak sejauh 36 km. Banjaran Nakawan juga adalah sempadan semulajadi yang memisahkan Malaysia dan Siam seakan dinding mega terletak di Utara Semenanjung.

i have no words to describe what an amazing documentary this was, wow. from the start to the end i was connected with every part of the story and the lives of the locals. i even felt the emotions when they were talking about the loss of his friends and also about the way they spoke about preserving forest. hope this brings more Malaysians to Perlis and more opportunities for them to get more funding into their research of the forest and share with us on the beauty that is Perlis, Malaysia.

Tahniah kepada semua yang terlibat dalam penghasilan dokumentari ini. Dokumentari yang membuka mata, minda dan hati dalam hanya 34 minit. Walaupun tak kenal siapa arwah Ayub dan Amsah, tetapi hati ini sama-sama luluh dan airmata bercucuran mengenang nasib Mak Milah, ibu yang kehilangan dua orang anak. Bak kata orang Barat, no parent should have to bury their children or outlive their children. Kisah Mak Milah ni sama macam kisah ibu bapa saya. Sebab itu saya sangat empati dengan beliau. Menulis ni pun masih tersedu-sedan. Terima kasih kepada semua subjek dalam dokumentari ini kerana sangat jujur dan candid dalam berkongsi kisah lampau anda. MashaAllah. I never knew Perlis had an uncovered history that truly surprised me. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't watched this documentary. Everything is top-notch from the beginning to the end. The locals are genuinely hospitable. A poignant quote from the Cave Guide: 'Apa guna duit banyak tapi tak tolong orang 😢' Not to forget both Arwah Ayob and Arwah Amsal, may they be granted Jannah.

Wang Kelian memang cantik, 1st tempat yang buat saya jatuh cinta dengan alam sehingga sampai ke semua Puncak G7 di Semenanjung, gua kelam, kemudian panjat Gunung Perlis di Wang Kelian masa 2011 sewaktu belajar di UiTM Arau, trail yang unik betul2 di laluan sempadan Malaysia - Thailand. Tengok video ni buatkan saya nak kembali ke Wang Kelian. Baru tau pasal beruk ketoi dan kawasan prasejarah dekat lembah ni Terima Kasih atas dokumentari yang terbaik!
