I always smile seeing Curt. He is such a nice man and superbly gifted at organ maintenance. Anything he touches is better for it. This video is such a delight! Well done!

As incredible as this sneak preview is, and the full DVD it attempts to describe, nothing beats actually being there! If you can make it to Philly even for just one day, be sure to take in a concert - you will never forget it.

A treasured instrument deserves to be preserved by any means necessary . I'm most definitely getting ( 2 ) copies , I'ts best to have a spare copy , especially for something like this.

And as the videos inside the pipe chambers demonstrate, an organ is horrendous sounding in the wrong conditions, it is the environment it is in that makes or breaks an instrument.

You can't forget the physical space! Shamans tooting on bone flutes in the resonant bowels of caves have known this for tens of thousands of years!

That is partly true (the room is the best stop in the organ) but the instrument includes quality materials and workmanship throughout and is voiced in the chamber for its effect in the room. For example, as reeds get down to the 16' octave, inferior metals are used in some installations resulting in degraded tone. Not here.

I didn't even know this existed until that neat movie, "Mannequin". I just had to find out if that place was real. And now I'm planning my 3rd trip out fall 18. And for SPR 19, its a visit to the steel pier.

Being a "nit-picker," I would caution anyone trying to blow wind into a pipe with your lips. Many pipes have lead in their construction. Not likely, but too much lead could affect the body. This has been advised by organ master builders. If you want to hear a pipe's sound, use your hand on the toe of the pipe, cupping your hand and blow into your hand. Thanks to everyone for caring for this beautiful instrument!

PS . And I have been prepared to hear the instrument live, sit at the console, and a private tour of many of the chambers. I’ve built my own 6 manual imitation in Sydney Australia
