I happened to join TF2 in the middle of the worst of it: December 2021. I may have joined when the game was at it's worst, but I still have fun with community servers, and it's sad to see what people are doing to them.

I rejoined in even worse time:October 2020. I joined in 2018, in even that time, early bots started to show up and they were stronger than today's bots.

yeah i started to play in 2020 and like a month later f2ps were muted so i couldnt talk for 1.4k hours till i got a giftcard (i mostly play in community servers)

we dealt with hackers, bots, no updates, bots targeting MvM, we can do this, we can make it through this bullshit. People that play TF2 should try and get a job at valve and work on TF2. They may be able to fix all of this, also I know how TF2 could be fixed.

Okay, I did a bit of research following this video, and discovered that fake servers with fake players may been a thing since 2016 if not even earlier. While this situation may not be a “new thing” I believe the main difference is the fact that these fake servers redirect you to the same gravel pit server.

@@WAMOTF2 Spawn Camping is non-interactive and requires a disproportionate amount of effort on the receiving team to counter it than it is to be the one Spawn Camping. "ViAbLe StRaTeGy" or not, the non-interaction it promotes makes it degenerate and ultimately, unhealthy for the game. I never argued that it was game breaking, and never implied that botting isn't.

The community servers specifically are places ya gotta know where to look.

I've been playing tfw since gunmettle update. And i was young so that means I was stupid and never fully apretiate the updates that existed. Now that I look at the state of tf2... its makinv me sad... to the point of almost making me cry. This is my favorite game ever, and seing it being abused not just by assholed who host bots.(I would not be angry/sad [ even tho they doesn't deserve this, since there are worse crimes happening, and thes are still people. I am aware ofnthis] if they went to gulag at this point) but by the developers of the game itself. This is not something new, Developers forgetting about a game. But this thing has gone for more then a year, and something like this on that big scale (probably) never happened, period. Honestly this should go into the news, television, fucking everywhere so valve can finally stop fapping and actually try and fix this thing. Why is it every time I join a community, that the game falls in shambles or it already has. I, just want something not dying or well “dying” when I join it. Just please, valve, update the game and make us happy until I think I’m a bad omen to communities.

Two years ago I moved temporarily to California for a clinical trial to treat my disease. Five hours after we landed our car was broken into. A lot of treasured things that carried me up to that point where gone. I was devastated, but tf2 came to my help. The game helped me get though my time in California with all the doctors and stuff like that. I hate to see my favorite game go though this it’s just truly sad. I this game has made a huge impact on my life and I’d hate for it to be all for nothing. keep up the good work wamo.

Team Fortress 2 has always been a masterpiece in entertainment. From the wacky art style to the gameplay and funny moments, it’s one of the single greatest video games to have ever been made. Of course, when there’s something that’s gotten as big as TF2, or has been around like TF2, there’s gonna be those people who DON’T want to see it on their recommendations every 2 hours. And sometimes, we get that one cheeky prick who feels it necessary to go the extra mile to “get the job done.” *Someone wants TF2 gone.*

I remember in Counter strike 1.6 I joined an server exactly like the ones in tf2 rn, the server changed my entire binds, I literally couldn't even walk due to the wasd keys send me to the same crappy server, I hope these servers in tf2 don't change the keybinds because that would be crossing the line.

Guys we must mail valve ….not e-mail but actual handwritten letters. This may very well be our last hope in getting valve to listen to us and if it doesn’t then we will be going into uncharted territory.

I just barely got back into TF2 again and it sucks so much. Community servers are literally all 2Fort with exceptions of other maps and custom. And certain hours of the day have a player increase/decrease whereas if you play casual it can be played anytime of the day with an actual game or at least it used to. I'm also getting kicked out of the game TF2 when I join a community server and it says sending client info at the very last tick the whole game crashes I been trying to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem

What the fuck is going on ? Why is there so much energy put into running one of the best games there are ? Who benefits from it ? Is another game company trying to sink the game so it has free range to take it's place ? Is Valve self-sabotaging it because they are fed up with it ? Are humans just so inherently toxic that they would spend so much money and effort just to ruin other's fun ? Where is this coming from and why ?

as a person who has just recently stated playing in the past 3 weeks its been hard. playing mvm sucks because we cant find competent teammates without paying. i have found 3 or 4 servers but usually they are all full and me and my friend both cant get in. i also think ive only ever managed to play a single casual game without bots in they few times ive tried.

I've left TF2 cause of the bot problem and I am extremely sad about that cause TF2 is my favourite game.

For me, everytime I play casual, I join nothing but servers that have more bots than real players and that’s a problem because since every bot is programmed to vote no when a real player attempts to votekick them, we will never have enough real players to vote yes

i joined tf2 like 10 days before f2p's were muted, and i have to say, it's easily one of the best games i've ever played. i really hope something is done about the bots, at least enough so that the poor f2p's can speak again

I actually miss you WAMO and his voice within his tf2 footage. I legit don’t care about the subject, it’s just his fancy accent of English and his gameplay just fits well. I hope you come back someday!

what a wonderful era to start playing tf2

I feel like either this game will either die slowly or it will keep surviving no matter what. The bots can be outlived, but it’ll be hard…

It will die because VALVE! At this point, we tf2 fans seek no other option other than returning to tf2 on this game bundle pack called “The Orange Box” for Xbox 360. It’s also the same exact thing as what the pc version used to be like in 2007 since it never got updated for 15 years unlike the pc version

In the beginning , part about casual servers and mvm is overdramatized

If people keep joining these servers well there will be people playing on the servers

At least here in south america (chile, argentina,brazil, etc.) Oficial servers are still alive with active players, with something like one in eight servers raided by bots, and in the rest at least if there's players and a bot joins it gets kicked inmediatly.

Given that the community generally cares more about their servers, i think this issue will go away

Once me and my friend played on a community server where people were very toxic. My friend ip got leaked because his team won in payload😶

everyone believed that were gonna die here, i dont believe that mostly because everyone forgot that tf2's source code was once leaked and it was soon fixed.

I’m glad to let you know, casual is getting better, been able to play it constantly and even if a bot joins it’s kicked before anything happens.

TF2 is literally the gifted kid who sits by itself at recess and walks from school to home to be greeted by a softly drunk father and caring but spineless step-mum.

given that valve has attempted to update VAC a few months ago, I wouldn't consider TF2 dead.

Don't get discouraged guys. Keep playing the game on your own time. On other things, I as a casual only player from asia, just want to express my frustration by listing down only some of many problems: *multiple servers with barely any players *going from a bot filled match right into another and another one again *autobalance just not doing it's damn job having teams outnumber the other so many times *Lastly just generally servers being infested with or even emptied from sniper bots. On the bright side though: *Sniper bots actually kill eachother if they have different programming, making eachother's effect less impactful if two or several enter the same server *Bots are kicked so fast as soon as they are identified they immediately don't become a problem, even when they make up almost half a team they are dealt with usually before a match ends *People who do still play on casual can be very awesome still to play with *Hackers from my experience are actually pretty rare to come by, and most I have encountered are just pretending to be bots (which is kinda weird) for example a sniper with aimbot who decides not to shoot as I play hoovy and killbinds to me, or a heavy aimbot with gibus and pyro goggles jumping off a cliff after killing someone *Getting a game with no problems is actually pretty common, not as rare as an outsider would think Just wanted to put a little bit out there for the community
