WAM Show Journal - OVMS Show of Shows, Louisville KY, February 2019

It's the first Show Journal of 2019, and what a better place to start off than the Ohio Valley Military Society's Show of Shows in beautiful Louisville, Kentucky.
This time around we've got old friends, new friends, a lot of great militaria, and... horse mannequins.
Many of you asked for longer videos, and the squeaky wheels are about to be greased; this one runs just a hair shy of an hour.
Many thanks to OVMS! If you are not already a member of this fantastic organization I suggest you join immediately:

Either going this year in November for my birthday or next year in february. Being a youth collector this is like the holy grail for me, especially for my birthday. I live in Louisville so having this here is awesome. Great time for me and my Grandfather.

Really enjoy watching these. Tom is such a fun and knowledgeable guy. I loved Tom's reaction to the kid telling him about his 3,000 dollar helmet. 😀 Lana's website is one of the best on the internet btw. What a beautiful classy lady! 58:17 "made in 1833 wow! Plainly says 1863 😁

Love your videos Tom. I’m pretty much an expert on WWII history but I never collected any militaria. I have learned a lot from you about all the German knifes ,dagers and swords. I collected handguns for many years but non military. If I was younger I would love to collect some of the German and American WW II handguns but living in CA with the screwed up firearms laws we have here now makes it almost impossible unless I still held a FFL,even getting another now is a pain in the ass. ,

First time I've heard a man of Whittman's knowledge question Carinhall being blown up. Everything I've ever watched or read stated that they demolished it. Was it resurrected in some way? Carin Goering was entombed there. Her body was exhumed and was moved there from its original location to Carinhall in a bit of a ghoulish ceremony that Hitler took part in. I don't recall whether it was moved again since the demolition, which was apparently done so it wouldn't fall into Soviet hands as part of their scorched earth policy.

Actually, these things are to be treated as looted art. They belong to members of the German army ... or their heirs. But in the entrance area you justify yourself with cardboard signs: "their Victory their Souvenirs" and tell something about: we preserve history.

The Political leader(Nazi party) rank is Oberabscnhittsleiter or Senior section leader, Above middel high rank .But I am not sure about the color on the insignia - only seen it in grey and gold ??? A quite rare uniform and very nice. If it is an original and no fake ? And the blade on the Marine SA ..... just wow....
