The little girl who played Cooper’s daughter was an amazing actress for her short role. The look and delivery nearly made my cry I was so shocked how real she was. Of course Walton brought the scene home but she set the ground work for his reaction. What an amazing little girl!

@chrillex91 "Casting deserves a raise" Notice the comma afterwards and how it continues to "each cast member did a great job." In the first part, the term "casting" is in reference to the act of casting an individual. Therefore it is clear that the writer is talking about the person that casted each cast member. In the second part, "each cast member did a great job." The writer says this to provide reasoning as to why the person that casted the actors should receive a raise. For if the cast did a great job, that means the person casted did a great job as well. Which is why the writer said this because they believe the person who casted deserves recognition and praise as well as the cast.
"Is it your thumb or mine?" Even being an old Fallout player and fan, that simple line from that young girl just chilled me to the bone. And then Cooper's horror as his brain catches up with what his daughter said and follows the direction of her gaze. Because his daughter is scared of something she doesn't understand. Cooper is *horrified* by something he very much *does* understand.
Imagine all that acidic pickle juice in contact with his massive exposed wounds. His last moments must have been agony. 😅

Also, not really related to Fallout and probably a coincidence, but the sliding doors in, I think Vault 4, had the System Shock 2 door sounds. I'm not entirely sure if it was in Vault 4 but definitely somewhere in the last 2 episodes.
_"-for all of humanity"_ Walton's reaction was *on **_needle_** point!* Lightning in a bottle. The piercing white noise/ear ringing froze my entire family as Cooper Howard's face went white. For me it's that glance at his daughter's thumb when she's holding it up before catching her eyeline and looking off into the city to see the rising mushroom cloud. He knows they're fucked at that moment, it's the worst nightmare in the world come true, and to have his daughter be the one there witnessing it makes it all the more painful
I saw exactly what Ella Purnell described in that first scene, first relief when her father started to save her, then the shock at seeing her father this violent, after all that naive sheltered vault life. Such great acting/directing/writing.
2:20 music: happy and whimsical, scene: Goggins lamenting about the horror of imagining the bombs dropping while he's out in the open surface with his daughter peak fallout lol

The bit that killed me was just him sitting there explaining the thing with bombs and using your thumb to measure a detonation. Like the actual horror of just having that conversation with your young daughter because it's a fact of life stuck with me all the way through the opening credits. Telling her not to bother running, even. Almost worse than when the bombs actually did drop. The "Is it your thumb or mine?" was gut wrenching.

I find there is a lot of comparisons between Fallout and The Boys. Same dark humour, same level of graphic violence which sometimes adds to the dark humour, and very similar, messed up characters who are constantly torn between doing the right or wrong thing. I cannot stress enough, how excellent Kyle Maclachlan and Walton Goggins were cast for this specific series. I don’t mention Lucy because everyone knows Lucy is great, she’s the star of the show. Ella was cast well too. Very well. I just want to give some praise to the people who thought of Kyle and Walton, because I cannot stress how much they fit into a world like Fallout. It’s more than just their specific characters they play in this show, it’s in their filmography as actors. These are character actors who are 100% tailor made for Fallout, looking at their past work. If you’ve seen them and a significant amount of what they’ve done, you know what I mean. As a long-time fan of both, kudos to those involved, and to Kyle and Walton.
The Fallout tone is present. All actors nailed it, at level of the tiny reactions and expressions... amazing. But the Ghoul, the Ghoul is a masterpiece!

I posted on my FB "I don't care if the rest of this show is shyte, at minute 6 in ep 1 I'm hooked." It so embodies the tone of FO--that 50s/60s Pleasantville thing with weird tech advances while other things are still socially "backwards", with its faux-cheerfulness in the face of alleged "everything shortages" and a war happening off the mainland, and then everything going t*ts up in an instant. I've been playing the games since FO1 dropped and i think it was pretty damned good. Even the way the 3 main characters embodied the 3 different styles of players just.... so good. There are other shows/movies out there that have done excellent openings but then didn't go on to fulfil the promise of the opening (the first Wolverine movie springs to mind) but this show's opening completely fit the subject's and the source's tone and then it followed up on it. Very glad; this is a show it would have been too easy to get wrong.
"You think I'm going to go dig some corn but no..." love how he just lets that go when she misses it.
This show birthed a new obsession for me. I had never played the games but had a decent bit of knowledge on Fallout because loads of my friends love it. I just finished the main story in New Vegas for the first time and WOW. I now understand why this franchise has so many fans. After I finish a second playthrough I'm starting Fallout 4 because I'm obsessed now.
"theres violence and then some funny stuff where he gets drowned in pickles.." yep thats fallout

Also in that scene betwen Cooper and his daughter i found it touching when she asks him a little earlier about the thumb and he starts lying, to protect her, but she sees it trough, and we see him for amoment not knowing what to do, until he decides to just tell the truth.
Cool to hear one of the actors talk about the practical effect of the physical power armor props.
I absolutely loved this show, the creators truly understood the material and created something for the fans. Walton, Ella and Aaron were incredible, I think that the Ghoul and Lucy are my favorites!
So glad they used scenes only from Ep1, keeping the fun of the rest of the season for future viewers to enjoy without spoilers :)
Walton and Teagan (the daughter) both nailed that bomb dropping scene so well, I actually broke out into tears. Like, I was sobbing. I have never seen a child actor portray fear so accurately and doing it alongside Walton, who just as well embodied the realization of imminent death, was a legendary feat. Season 2 can't come fast enough.
"Is it your thumb, or mine?" NGL, her delivery of that line *wrecked* me, the fear clinging to hope. I didn't get to see Cooper's reaction until my second watch thru, and I was *wrecked* all over again. Walton is just phenomenal.
The show was 10X better than I expected. Have watched through it twice, and will watch it again just to scope out the cool references. Great job. Ella was hands down the best part of the show. The ghoul was the next best. Those two made the show.
So great, all these interviews show the casts genuine love for the work they put out. We need interviews with art dept set design
Walton nailed his role in this. Also wondering what the significance is that the show began and ended in the exact same spot (you can see the observatory as he's riding down the mountain).

I would litterally do...anything to just be in the background of this show. Fallout is my world and my comfort and to see these people care about something I've been so passionate for, for years and to have them sit and take the time to learn the characters and the environment made me really happy. If I can't be in the show I'm glad these guys can do such a wonderful job!
The prewar intro is everything I could have ever wanted as a Fallout fan since the beginning, The bombs dropping and getting to see how people handled it and what their lives were like leading up to was brilliantly done.
This show has brought my existence some substance. Literally everyone did a great job on this, from Amazon, Bethesda, actors, everything. The show is awesome.
I love the beginning of fallout show before the bombs the way it look and the furniture and city and the nice birthday party
So happy Walton Goggins is getting the flowers he deserves
you guys deserve all the praise, amazing show!
Kyle Maclachlin Rizzing up Ella Purnell lol
have to agree with Walter, showing the bombs in the first episode, the dulled audio, his reaction, the little girl's reaction.. they did it *perfectly*, same feeling you get when you see the bombs drop in the intro scene to Fallout 4 or even seeing them drop in 76, feeling never goes but in the show, its amplified cause it feels more real - insanely good job, every single person deserves praise and I'm an avid Fallout fan, thousands of hours across all Fallouts

I love Kyle MacLachlan as an actor, ever since his Orson Hodge days. The whole cast did a phenomenal job. Loved the show, love the games, very excited for season 2.
That's such a great point, having that reaction for all of humanity.
I'd really love just like an hour or two of these actors talking about the show. Fallout is beloved by so many, and it's SO fun to watch so many people experiencing it for the first time like this, in such a different way. And these people did a phenomenal job of depicting the characters inside of this particular setting. It really felt like Fallout. From the lethally pragmatic, to the naively heroic, to the downright insane - I really have no complaints about any particular performances, even from the side characters.

"And the cast of Fallout?" They have NAMES too you know.
Everything about this show was amazing
Something that has bothered me about some of the discourse about the TV show is that it seems really nitpicky. The show is good, really good. It can not be to someone's tastes of course. However, how many video game adaptations are anywhere near this good? Honestly I think it is even more impressive than the Last of Us (another amazing show), because it doesn't rehash a game's story. It tells an original story. It got so much right. Even the lore additions or changes still can fit with the overall setting of Fallout pretty seamlessly. I am not saying it is perfect, but I saw people loss their minds over a date on a chalkboard.
@UnspeakableAxeRecs
23 күн бұрын
Enjoyed the hell out of it. Nitpicking is the lowest form of fan engagement. Reasonable criticism is fine but it feels like some people just want to ruin things for themselves, and don't allow writers any wiggle room at all. Funny enough, Tim Cain (main creator of the original Fallout) is totally fine with their lore changes and liked the show--because he has a healthy perspective on this.
@GothicGali

@@UnspeakableAxeRecs Nitpicking means the fans think everything else is good except for a few small things, and point those out so everything can be perfect. Saying it’s the lowest form of engagement is frankly insulting to anyone who’s ever given a shit about the lore of their favorite universes. People nitpick because they really care. Even I was confused when I saw 2077 on the board. I didn’t recall Shady Sands being referred to in New Vegas as destroyed. I accepted it as a retcon, but other fans don’t, and I get why.
