I loved Pastor W. Hawkins. He was a great singer and composer. He had a majestic voice and ministry. His honesty was a "light" to me. Grace and mercy covered him. Rest on Pastor Walter Hawkins. Your labor was not in vain.

There seemed to be a hint of sadness in Walter's voice when he said "...but a lot of folks are gone". I have the utmost respect for him because he was honest about the mistakes he's made and how he's grateful that God's grace covered him.

LoveForSure82 I believe the sadness was because a lot of folks that Walter Hawkins grew up on and people that mentor him while he was in the music business had passed away except for Andre Crouch. Then later on in the years a lot of the gospel artist look up to Walter just like walk to look up to the other gospel artist that were before him.

You can just feel the love there!!! I'm so thankful for this "previously unreleased" video. You see his humanity so clearly. His modesty at his Milestone of his Ministry as well as his compassion of those who were gone on before him. You feel the love and admiration to him for her in how she looks at him after handing her the mic. This is Priceless!!! These are the reasons it was so nice fellow-shipping in service honoring God. He's brought us a people a mighty long way!! Gone but not forgotten.

Bishop Walter Hawkins is such a humble and repentant person. He makes honest open statements on his struggle in his walk with Jesus all the while acknowledging God's grace and mercy THEN thanks him for his love and holding on to him in spite of at times not walking in the Master's will. That is what God wants from all of us. God could have taken the Bishop at anytime he desired but instead gave him time, grace, wisdom and strength to overcome this world and leave here being right with God. Critics of the mistakes, critics of his choices, don't miss what happened near the end! On a video the Bishop is telling LC that his only purpose for living is to glorify God as he was talking about his surgery. Something happened. A change, a change.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Thanks for posting your heart @lovedandforgiven. I've been telling people this very same thing! You could hear Bishop's repentant heart & broken spirit in his music..the sound of God's gift of grace that so many gospel artist lack today. They may have talent, skill, and, I must say, even an anointing but that sound of grace is clearly absent in their music ministries. Nothing but the "melody of grace" emanated from Bishop Hawkin's compositions, especially "Marvelous".[WHEW!!!] I believe that this inherent gift of grace that the Father kissed his life with is why his music was so prophetic and still reaches & transforms lives today! Bishop was definitely one of God's broken & yielded spirit-truth worshipers in the earth. As I've followed his music ministry over the years, he reminds me so much of King David in the Bible. Yes. To me, the music ministry of Bishop Walter Lee Hawkins reminds me that God isn't pleased by great singing, preaching, teaching, etc, but what pleases Him is the sacrifice of a broken spirit, and a broken and a contrite heart." Many of us "Christians" in today's society have a lot to learn from this man's Journey with God...just like we're yet learning from King David's life today. I will forever give God all the praise for the life & legacy of Bishop Hawkins. Amen. Shalom.🙏🏽 "Psalm 51:16-17: 16 You are not pleased by sacrifices, or I would give them. You don’t want burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifice God wants is a broken spirit. God, you will not reject a heart that is broken and sorry for sin."

Luke... Hold on to Jesus and NEVER ever let go my friend. The enemy is a liar! You will live and not die. God knitted you into your mother’s womb. You were created before the foundations of the earth to minister to the nations. You use this test as your testimony to help others. Love you my friend there’s ALWAYS HOPE in Jesus. Read your Bible spend time praising and thanking him for your life. This life will perish but your spirit will spend eternity w Jesus where there’s no darkness. That’s the goal. satan wants to steal that from you . Don’t ever let him!

How can you compare the two of them. Kirk Franklin is a commercialized, Gospel Music Artist and his MUSIC reflects that fact. Walter Hawkins is a minister of the Gospel and his MUSIC reflects that fact.

I get what you're saying. Kirk's music is still timeless. And like Walter's "contemporary" music for that time, Kirk's is the same. You can probably walk into any church and listen to any mass choir/p&w team and hear either of their songs. What church don't sing "Jesus is the Reason"? They might sing Edwin's "Oh Happy Day" the same night. I get it. Andrae's music was also before his time, but we alllllll know "The Blood" and "Soon And Very Soon"
