Was at this game as a young lad, would give anything to see the ground like this again

As a Stokie it's a painful watch but hats off to Walsall that was a cracking performance. It's mad the crowds that both teams used to get for saying it was division 2 (the 3rd tier). Some great memories of that era around the end of the Victoria ground and start of the Brit. Great atmosphere at the Bescot there as well.

Walsall enjoyed the night but Stoke have had much better times since.

Was standing behind the opposite goal when Wardy 'chucked one in' nearly died with laughter! From then on we kept laughing everytime he touched the ball and taunting him with chants of 'Wardy is a sadler' and 'dodgy keeper'

left after their 3rd. Was a real good Walsall side. Ward's mistake changed the game

Yep, totally.. It went from 1-0 Stoke to 4-1 Walsall in the space of about 10 minutes (not including half-time). Stoke disintegrated after the Ward howler

It's funny that Walsall won the final and left Stoke behind; now look where the two sides are!

Dark days indeed. Remember thinking that I would never see Stoke in the top flight again. Fair play to Walsall, a decent side back then.
