    I thought the same thing. It's off topic, but they should have baskets for groceries like most stores even our dollar store has them. Walmart doesn't want them, because they want you to use a cart so you buy more. Their crooks.

    @@AStylz28 They might cost you five dollars but when you buy in bulk things get cheaper. The paper displays break easily too, but don't allow for automation. The paper displays don't stop someone from changing the price of an item. These digital displays allow the store to relocate this labor to other places like stocking or service. You can't stop progress, stores just aren't going to function like they do in the next five years or so.

  • @scarpfish

    That's usually how it works, but when you consider the cost of printing the paper tags, plus all of the labor changing them, it's kind of a wash.

    When it rains umbrellas double in price. When it's sunny and hot pools and ice cream will go up 20%. It will get worse because it can be programed to increase the price when it hits a high demand of any product. Think about when TP was selling out, and now imagine them jacking up the price once their systems notice a lot of people buying them. Trying to buy groceries on a budget will be very hard from week to week.

    Kohls has been using this for many years. There is no controversy to the digital signs. If Walmart wants to change prices regularly it can and has been done with the paper signs. An associate just prints out a new price walks over and replaces the old sign with the new one. There is nothing sinister by going from paper to digital.

  • @John-bs5ug

    @John-bs5ug

    Expect at Kohls everything has a sticker price on the product. At Walmart, you'll never know if it's really a "rollback" if you can't look behind back the rollback tag to see the regular price. Besides, clothes aren't going to fall on the digital tags and break them, but carts bumping into them, and falling cans, soda bottles and anything that's heavy will.

    Okay Walmart better hit the mark they wont but if they listen they will. Make sure these have pixel change tech. So we can add cool discounts and flash deals that could be live and instant. Also GPS with someone in the aisle to be getting them recommend items they may need for items in there cart. Or you could have colors indicate when an item the customer is searching for is on the shelf for easy access. Also sell marketing space on that same shelf for coupons from manufacturers. This can pay for itself if done right. As well again for Uber shoppers it could be a guide tech for finding items fast. Lots of potential use if done right.

    As per the digital pricing, do I think it is a cool idea to save time on changing prices with one click of a button in the stock room or the main office as like an update, yes but I do think that there should be a 7 day waiting period before the price can change again... So none of this... Monday $9.99 Tuesday $10.99 Wednesday $11.49 Thursday $8.50 Just my honest opinion

    Look like they are likely battery powered with bluetooth but really they should be wired. Setting them all up may take longer but would eliminate the need for battery changes and the problem of dead/dying batteries causing them to not work or not work properly. Also being bluetooth makes the whole system more accessible to hackers. Also if wired it will lesson the chance of thieves trying to walk off with them. Honestly overall this could be a good thing as paper tags get lost and it's infuriating to not know the price of something. Without a price i will just walk away from something especially since walmart did away with the scanners that used to be placed in many locations within the stores.

    If they can easily change the price with an app, wait until someone learns to hack those price tags and change the prices to their liking. With devices like the flipper, it shouldn't be too hard.

    Whats the range? If you have to walk to every tag and do it by hand it's not really better. If they do it from the office, then sure. Also why is this major news?

    Because the employees are not putting the right price tags on items nor or they correctly changing the price tags when the swap stock out. So $500 dollar items get sold for $8 when i come in the store. That what happen when you hire a bunch of people and only a few correctly do the job. I believe if everybody hired to do a job did the job, there would be no jobs. It's a shame that instead of changing the curriculum, you go to an option that changes not the way a job is done but to assist the inefficiency.

    But will the upc be readable so you know which tag corresponds to the item in your hand. You know how people just huck things back ANYWHERE if they change their mind. One thing....where are all those millions of watch batteries powering these displays and how do they knowwhen its battery needs replacement I dont know why so many are bellyaching. Restaurants have these. Mcdonalds has these and the economy hasnt crumbled. People arestill going there to gain weight.,

    How many jobs did that just destroy?, Since now I can program all the prices from an office.. Soon you only need a couple workers at the store because you’ll have wider shelving and people will be inside and it’ll be fronting the shelves automatically

    If they can afford to do this, they can afford to hire cashiers and lower their prices.
