Went through onboarding in Garland in Mid October. Everything you said is dead on. Leave your ego at the door . Listen , do what they do . Thank them after they critique you after every exercise. Have a positive attitude . Yes it’s hard , but if you’re willing to listen and have a positive attitude, you can do it !! Trust me when I say it’s worth it . Best job I’ve ever had !! Very rewarding!!

Hey Randall, Bernard here.. I sat two seats down from you in that orientation, small world lol.. I didn't make it on the first try but I'm going to reapply and I'm confident I'll make it in next time. Either way, I'm glad that the job seems to be as great as they say it is, stay safe out there👍

After hauling 40’ containers out of the rail yards and ports for 3 years, the backing was different for me, but it’s not bad. I haven’t been to a vendor or a store yet as tight as onboarding was. I agree with you that it’s tough because you want it, and you are being judged. Check your ego at the door and be willing to do things Walmarts way, or you won’t make it. It’s that simple.

Actually, it's easier now back then when they requires you to be able to drive stick you had to shift perfect with no grinding or roll-backs and multiple interviews. And you used to have to build the truck(naming all truck components) in the onboarding process. Their quality is been going down because they are getting bigger and bigger so it's quality over quantity.

These are things we should have been doing in the past...drivers have become complacent..

I'm averagin about 2500-2800 some weeks more but depending on weather and if I get stuck doing grocery DC might lower my miles but up my activity pay.

where do they have your tandems when backing and driving road test?

I was fortunate enough to get through onboarding in Garland a couple of months ago. Leave what you think you know, and check your ego at the door and you will be fine. Those are a bunch of really good guys in Garland. Best of luck!

Hey Crespo. I have onboarding on the 29th in Dallas,TX I heard you now have to pass Driving and Backing 3 times now instead of just once is that true?

I think you can fail it once. But they will demonstrate how to set up and perform the backing just pay attention when they are explaining it and you will be ok
